My mother has moved into Summerfield of Hammond. It's a fantastic place. She's in memory care. It's immaculate and clean. Everybody is well taken care of. I'm glad she's there because they have a nurses' station there. They're always helping her with her medications and anything she needs. It's expensive, but it is a first-class facility. I'm paying $5,000 a month. They have bingo, they have people come in and play music for them two or three times a week, they take them on outings, they take them to Global Wildlife Center, and they ride on an open train, and they ride around amongst all the animals. The dining room is very nice, and the food is pretty good. I was surprised when I got a copy of the menu. The landscaping is all well-maintained. The building is well-maintained. There's no trash or dirt or anything anywhere. They're constantly cleaning that place. My mother said some of the food is pretty good. They serve them a lot of seafood and crabcake and shrimp. If my mother doesn't like what they serve, she can request, and they'll make her a hamburger or a grilled cheese or something else. She gets three meals a day, plus they give them snacks and they're always popping popcorn. Everybody's always eating popcorn. You walk in the place, and it smells like walking into a theater. It's kind of unique. It's owned by a husband and wife and their son and they have, I think, three facilities. It is spot on. It's a family-owned business and that means a lot to me.

Summerfield of Hammond was the one that I liked the best. They probably had a more reasonable price for an efficiency room than any others. So, I was happy with them. Tina was nice and helpful. At the time when I was there, they didn't have the more reasonable one open, but that was not an issue. We weren't ready to jump on it at the time, so it didn't make a lot of difference. The people were nice. They gave me a price list of all the different sizes and floor plans. They talked about a lot of things. They said they have crafts and different stuff and all of that was nice, but it's not a selling point for us because our brother is not very mobile and we may have to get away from this assisted living completely. The staff was great. It was Tina whom I mostly dealt with, but before they got me to her, everybody helped me get to the right person. The building looks new. I actually saw it when they were building it.

We're planning on moving my wife to Summerfield of Hammond. We visited the entire facility, but my wife will be going to memory care. The facility was extremely nice. The staff members were very friendly and they seemed to be very knowledgeable about senior care. They also have some nice activities for the residents. They have arts and crafts, music, and gardening. They have a rather large pond on the premises where they can go fishing. There's just a lot of things to do there. I was very impressed with the staff. They knew all of the residents by name, and the residents seemed to be genuinely happy to see each person. It gave me a feeling that the relationship between staff and residents is very high quality. Everybody says the food is excellent because the chef used to be the chef at a high-end restaurant here in town and they had excellent food, so I'm assuming that the food will be good. Everybody I've talked to said the food is quite good. It's a fairly new facility and it's kept very well and extremely clean. It had nice lighting and it's well decorated and cheery. It had the feeling of a nice house. However, the memory care section is upstairs and the residents cannot go down and mix with the other residents unless they're accompanied by either somebody on-staff or one of their friends or family that have come to visit. I would like to see them be able to go anywhere in the facility on their own, but they can't do that unless they're accompanied. That's the only issue I have with the whole facility.

I toured Summerfield of Hammond and they're very friendly, very clean, and have a lot of activities. They show a movie every day. They also put on different functions like for the Cinco de Mayo that's coming up, they're going to have a luau with lots of music and that kind of stuff. They have a game room where they have all kinds of games. If you just want to get out of your room, you can go there and color or play a game or whatever. Some of the residents get together and play cards. The rooms are very nice. I'm just not used to the part of them without a stove in it. But of course, you don't need one because you get three meals a day. The apartment is fine overall. The grounds were very clean and very neat. Inside the facility was very clean and very neat, too. The staff is very helpful, very informative, and polite. She introduced me to some of the residents. She goes beyond and above. They have a dining room, and then they have another room for private functions, like a birthday. They have a very nice room for that with a table and very nice linen. When you have your birthday and you want your family to come to celebrate, you get the room, and the chef will cook for you.

Everything at Summerfield Senior Living of Hammond was nice. The staff was friendly and they were informative about everything. It was a place that we considered. Their rooms were nice, spacious, and it was really good for all the things that it had. They were private rooms. The dining area was nice, it was clean, everything there was warm and inviting, and was assured of the patients care and safety as well. Everything was well-maintained.

The staff at Summerfield of Hammond assisted living is just very knowledgeable, very caring, and very devoted to their clientele. I haven't eaten there, but my dad always says the food was good. The upkeep is excellent too. There are a couple of patios and there's also a little lake in the back. They've built a place to sit around by the lake and read. When you first walk in, there's a great room, with a fireplace and it's all very nice. They have bingo and they get people involved. They also have little exercises you can do, like sitting in a chair to try to keep your upper muscles in shape. They go to different stores, to the movies, and different things like that too.

Summerfield of Hammond is very clean. It's a new construction, so it's very nice, and the staff is very friendly. They're more than willing to work with us on everything. My dad said the food isn't that bad. They have lots of activities like bingo nights and arts and crafts.

Summerfield of Hammond is my second choice. It came highly recommended. It was at our price point as well. The staff was very nice and very helpful. The rooms need to be updated. The cabinetry did not match the cabinetry in the bathroom. They seemed to have a lot of activities, which was nice and I mean they had a calendar of activities which was good. There was a courtyard, they were building a golf tee thing, they were getting ready to add fish to their pond, they were getting ready to add a walkway onto the pond, a pier so that you can go fishing. We didn't see it, but they were doing that.

My mother-in-law is currently in Summerfield of Hammond. She's only been there for only a week. So far, we're very pleased. It's a very pleasant place, my husband's been mostly dealing with them, but it sounds like the people who work there are very friendly, and they're willing to work with you whatever needs to be done. So far she seems to be happy there, so I can't really say anything bad about them. When we were getting everything set up to get her in there, we had no problems whatsoever. They were very detailed on what we needed to do, they helped us when we ran into a problem, and it was really very nice. She said the food is great; she loves the food. I think it's only been open for about five years. Everything is bright, and everything looks brand new. They do have activities, but they don't make the residents clearly aware of them, it's almost like you have to find out on your own.

My mom has been there for over a year. We believe God put it there for us. Facility is nice, her apartment is spacious, and handicapped accessible, the food is good for institution food, but the personnel is what makes us love it. Erika and Sheila stand out as loving caregivers(some are better than others). Gloria greets me with a smile every time I walk in (and I go frequently), the gentleman (I forgot his name) that transports the residents tries to accommodate them, and make sure they’re safe. Many activities, parties, crafts, etc. Different levels of assistance available. Nothing’s perfect, but it’s a good place for our mom.

Summerfield of Hammond gave us a tour and lunch. It was very nice. They showed us the sitting areas, and they took us to two different apartments. The one-bedroom was empty but very nice. We had seen a studio. Someone was living in it, but she had given permission for them to show it to us, and it was very nice. The only thing that my parent did have a little problem with was the walking. It was hard for them to walk a distance. We stopped every now and then. We got my dad a wheelchair, but they had several small rest areas along the way. We had lunch, which was very nice. We didn't see anything happening; we were there at lunch time. They told us about different activities that they do. My parents were impressed with this place. The staff members were very friendly. The food was very good. It was excellent. It's a new building only a couple of years old.

I moved mom into Summerfield. The people seem more upbeat and the room is bigger than other places, which I like a lot. However, it could use a little more natural lighting. There's happy hour on Fridays, music, and she occasionally plays Bingo. She used to play mind games, and she's played Wii bowling. They go every week (or every other week) to stores and restaurants. They offer a lot more than what she needs. They have laundry facilities and a 24-hour nurse on staff.

I visited Summerfield. It was very good, spacious, and the people were really nice. It was my favorite of the facilities I visited, except that it was a little far away. Some residents were doing a type of craft while I was there. The apartments were spacious, and we saw different sized places.

I went to Summerfield for assisted living. The facility was really nice. I think they were open for about seven months, and it was very clean. They were in the dining hall when I was there. They had a walking trail, they had benches on the outside, they had a pond, and a gathering hall for the residents. I could move in there. The staff was very informative, very cordial, and she introduced me to a lot of the residents there.

Everything at Summerfield of Hammond has been outstanding. My parents like the food and there are multiple activities every day. The staff is very caring, friendly, and shows genuine concern for my parents. I have no complaints at all and neither do my parents. They have a 1-bedroom apartment with a completely accessible bathroom, a full size refrigerator/freezer, a microwave oven, a sink, air conditioning in each room, ceiling fan in each room, and a nice walk-in closet. They have regular meals prepared every day, but they have an extensive menu, which they call the bistro menu. So, if you don’t like the main meal they have prepared, you can order off the bistro menu.

We visited Summerfield of Hammond. The lady that showed us around was very pleasant. The space was great. I like the fact that it is in Hammond, so I can be near my friends. The lady staff there was very good -- very pleasant and very informative. I would recommend this community.
