Sage Lake Senior Living at Covington

Sage Lake Senior Living at Covington is a beautiful place to live. There are lots of areas to socialize. There are lots of activities for people who can do it. They have religious services, arts and crafts, and bingo. They keep residents very involved. Everybody is extremely nice and pleasant. No attitude. I tried the food, and it was delicious. The facility is beautifully decorated. There are chandeliers and a gorgeous dining area. The rooms are nice and clean. Everybody is well taken care of. They have church and take them shopping if they want to, but my mom hasn't done that. They take them to Walmart or Target occasionally if they want to go. As for value for money, I was paying much more at another place and this one is much nicer.

My dad moved to Sage Lake Senior Living of Covington. One of the reasons I selected it is because they have assisted living and memory care. It doesn't matter what stage you're at, there's a place for you. They have staffing issues sometimes, which is not their fault, but it is an issue. They don't have enough caregivers and they don't have enough people to run all the places that these people need. The director even stepped in to help out by serving the meals at lunchtime or something like that. She's a very hands-on person and she's not afraid to step in there with her staff. That's one of the reasons why I thought it was a good place because I could see that the director was very involved. The gourmet food is delicious. They've got a trained New Orleans chef who is cooking for them, and she makes some wonderful dishes. They have daily activities sometimes two or three times a day, games, art, and music. They have people that come in on a weekly basis several times a week. They've had piano players, singers, and a harpist. They have church services several times a week and a storybook hour, something called morning mindfulness. They've got a happy hour. They've got exercise. My dad has participated several times. Although he's not an activities person, they've encouraged him to come out and he's enjoyed what he's been involved in. I've checked out these other places and there were a couple of them that were much more expensive than this one, and I like this one better.

We're on their waiting list at Restoration Senior Living. We toured both assisted living and memory care. I like everyone there. The whole staff greeted us upon arrival, whether it was walking in the front door or walking down the hall. It was very warm and welcoming. The entire place was very light and airy. The windows were almost like floor to ceiling. It's very lightly colored, so it felt very spacious. It did not feel institutional. It's a little homey. We had lunch there, and it was delicious. It was lasagna.

My mom has been in Restoration Senior Living of Covington. The facility is very nice and her room is really nice too. The staff is very caring and very good. My mother has a lot of eating problems with the stomach, so she is having problem with the food. The layout is excellent. I think the staff is very interested in getting her to adjust to her new environment. For the food, it's hard for me to say because she just has a lot of issues. She has congestive heart failure, she's got some issues with her stomach, so it's not really fair for me to say if there's something wrong with the food, 'cause it probably isn't, it's probably her. A lot of times they are confined to their room right now. She has been going to the doctor a lot, so when she comes back, she's quarantined for three days. As far as activities, I can't really give a mark on that right now. It's expensive, but I guess you get what you pay for.

My mom is staying at Restoration Senior Living. It's only five minutes from my house, so their location is great. Also, I like that it's a very friendly, very clean place, and it's only two years old. The staff has really taken good care of her, and they're very accessible -- like you can talk to them and ask them questions. They're very helpful and just great people. They have a hair salon, manicures, and all kinds of games and activities that they play. They have arts and crafts and church services, as well -- whether you're Protestant or Catholic -- and a whole lot of different things. My mom has been very pleased with the food, too. She said it's very good.
