The nurse at Homestead -- Steve -- was fantastic. He took us around, we talked to a few of the residents, and it was just a really homey environment. I knew my mom would fit in there, so this is where we went. Their fees are quite reasonable from what I have seen. They are a great facility.

THIS IS AN UPDATE REVIEW from February 3, 202 My mom has been there since 2012. It was wonderful for the first 5-6 years then it started to decline. This last year has been the worst. Short staff, no cleaning, laundry was horrible, food was horrible and it's been a revolving door for staff, including nurses and directors. As this wasn't bad enough, cooperate decided to close do do a remodel; during Covid! All residents were moved to other Homestead Facilities. We were lied to and the move was a nightmare. Staff packed and things were just thrown in boxes, stuff was broke and lost and they didn't care. Homestead of Lenexa is where my mother was moved to and it's probably worse. Missed showers or our loved ones being left alone in the shower. Medication errors. NO communication what so ever. My mom fell out of her wheelchair because she didn't have a brace on that should of been on and was taken to the ER. And they still haven't put it on! All of my emails go unanswered. My advice, stay away from any Homestead facility!

We opted for my mother to stay at The Homestead of Leawood because it was closest to our home. There were about sixty rooms and of good size. The facility appeared well-staffed and they seemed well-trained. The staff dispensed medicines, they were well-organized and kept very good records. It was a small facility so we knew all the people that run it. They seemed to be attentive to any questions we had and they took care of anything we raised. There were activities like crats, church services, execises, singers came over, they kept the residents pretty busy. I had not tried the food but my mom seemed pleased with it. I would recommend this facility to other people.

They had a really great facility! The staff was friendly and able to deal with all of the extra visitors and seemed really energized. Their food was actually good too.. I had expected a 'cafeteria' experience. I was able to visit with my aunt and have some adult time as the staff offered to take my siblings off my hands to do some activities. My Aunt Cindy actually had good things to say herself, she had had lots of reservations about being in an assisted living unit but she says she still gets to be pretty independent. Their decor is a little bland, but their great staff make up for that. Alot of the residents seemed to be really good friends too, so it seemed more like a friendly get together than an event. Overall i'd say that Homestead has created an excellent balance of independence and a sense of community for all of their residents.

The Homestead of Leawood in Kansas was in the same vicinity where we were visiting the area to look at possible places for our uncle to live. The interior foyer like a country home - very inviting, with plenty of space, nice furnishings and a lovely color scheme. The restaurant style dining area offers many delicious choices. The lunch we saw was like you might find in an upscale diner. They also had a private dining room for friends and family to enjoy that could be reserved. The staff takes residents on weekly outings for shopping, culture and entertainment in the region. The exercise area was well equipped and offered regular classes. There was also a lovely outdoor walking path. The private housing options were all lovely and looked like they had been personalized. The facility offers plenty of amenities - like social enrichment activities with the community, Homestead of Leawood is one of the nicer assisted living facilities in the region that we have visited thus far. We could see that the residents really enjoyed living there.
