My mother-in-law is a resident of Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community. It has a very big walk-around and stuff. It was nice. I've had good nurses. I've had bad nurses, polite nurses, caring nurses and quick, and rude nurses. So, there's a mixture. The staff there that I have dealt with has been pretty sound. They have a little cafe sandwich guy who works there in a little cafe area. It's the best cheese sandwich I've ever had. My granddaughter will even eat it. They have a therapy room. The main dining room is connected to the cafe area for seating. The cafe is a run restaurant. People have their friends in and do all that. The facility is very clean and very busy. For the activities, their stuff is educational and fun. They have a room dedicated to activities. It's worth the money.

About Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community in Buhler, Kansas
Welcome to Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community! The Sunshine Home provides a place where older persons may live with the companionship of others and provides a setting where involvement is planned and encouraged both within the residence and in the community-at- large. The Sunshine Home believes that elderly have a right to live with dignity, independence, and security in a safe, wholesome Christian environment. As caregivers we believe in doing more than just giving care to our residents, we care about them.
The Buhler Sunshine Home history started in January of 1945 with the vision of the Buhler Mennonite Brethren Church to expand its ministries to its elderly members. The original building purchased was a large three-story home located at 312 South Dirks Street. The Sunshine Home evolved into a 50 bed licensed facility with major expansions of nursing wings in 1954 and with the center and west wings built in 1960. In 1977 two new nursing wings were added and soon afterwards the facility became a Medicaid provider. The Sunshine Villa was completed in 1985 providing 11 one bedroom independent living apartments. In the Fall of 1993, groundbreaking was held for the beginning of a new retirement community entitled Sunshine Meadows. This extended campus consists of 4 duplex units and 19 Crongregate Living Apartments and 28 Assisted Living Apartments. A new nursing wing was completed in 1994, increasing the capacity to 60 intermediate health care beds. In 2007, the 200 hall was remodeled and additional space added to accommodate the new Memory Care Unit, which is a part of the nursing facility.

We visited Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community. It was a very wonderful place. It was bright, clean, a wonderful place, and it smelled good. They had this lovely café area, an eating/dining room, they had kind of an indoor courtyard with live plants. The place looks like you're outdoors, but you're inside. It was very nice, they were all very kind, and thoughtful. They served us refreshments, cookies, and juice for the schoolchildren that went there.
