I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom was a resident at Premier Healthcare of New Harmony as a hospice patient. She had previously resided at two other nursing homes. My mom was a very particular person, yet she was very happy with her care at New Harmony. To me, that speaks volumes. I felt the facility was well-staffed, and my mom was able to get help within a reasonable amount of time. In addition, they were very genuinely caring. The staff called me on multiple occasions to update me on my mom's health. I was very impressed with the communication with family. I would wholeheartedly recommend New Harmony.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My aunt is at Harmonie Healthcare Center, and a lady at the hospital recommended it. So far, it’s been really good. It’s a fairly nice, clean place that's out in the open and not in the middle of the city. The staff is friendly. It’s a fairly decent place. They’ve got a great staff.

My grandfather lived at this facility for several years. Concerns were always addressed timely and he was well taken care of by qualified and caring staff. Everyone honored his personal preferences. I couldn't have asked for a better experience.

I am a friend or relative of resident

Good to hear this facility is getting the recognition it deserves. US News and World Report has rated them one of the best facilities in Indiana. I have had 2 family members there and could not be happier. The compassion these folks have goes a long way in stressful situations. Is it perfect? No. Ideal? No. But, it is truly the best option in the tri-state area. So, proud of my friends at New Harmonie.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My experience with the New Harmony Healthcare is better now than it used to be however the smoking ban in Indiana has made it hard on the residents. My brother who smokes has to go outside and sit in either the sun or in the cold rainy weather as they do not have a shelter for them to smoke in. The cleanliness of the place has greatly improved there was a time that the urine and feces smell was so bad that it almost made me ill when I visited but now there is almost no odor but the scent of cleaning supplies. They still have a problem with retaining help as I imagine they do not pay well and it takes a special person to work in that environment. But overall they seem to take good care of the residents my Brother still complains from time to time about the usual things like the taste of the food and like I said earlier the smoking situation but he is a chronic complainer and would find fault in a lot things that you or I may not. I know living in places like this is hard when you have lived so long on your own but it is what it is.

I visited this facility

A few times I visited the home it reeked of human waste. The food is not too bad but does lack in any seasoning another bad point is the quality of help is somewhat poor. The turnover is great as they do not retain employees long. I am sure the pay is not great nor the job itself. My Brother has had a few bad experiences with roommates one that would throw his feces at him and another that would yell at all hours of the night. They seem to have gotten a little better in the last few months I think they may have hired a new Manager and some better employees. I think my Brother has been treated well by most of the workers I am sure he has had a problem with a few but nothing serious. I guess all in all they are certainly worse places so I am going to say he is as happy as he can be being where he is at.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

The Alzheimer's unit was a large secure unit, and I was happy to see how well my grandma was adjusting to living there. My grandmother had been showing signs of Alzheimer's for the last four years, but after the accident she had at her house, we knew it was time to find a safe place for her to live. We don't live in the same city and really were not able to have her move into our home. I went to the internet and read up on the great Alzheimer's unit that New Harmonie health care had. I met with the administrator and after my mother and I toured the home we really felt this would be the best place for Grandma to stay at. My grandmother was 78 and had always lived on her own and I knew this would be a huge adjustment for her, but with the great competent staff she would do well there.
