Staff is very caring and they generally seem to be adequately staffed. The only complaint we have is the size of the room.

Mother was in Brown County Health & Living for a short while after she left the hospital. I love, love, love their program director in memory care, they have a new one there and I think she's very good. And they're remodeling. But while Mother was there, the staff didn't do much. It seems like the people there were very declined, a lot of them were bedridden, and they couldn't talk. They were just shuffling up and down the hall and kind of mumbling, while my mom had Alzheimer's but she can carry on a conversation, was a happy person, and was charming. The facility itself was clean and everybody's basic needs were being met, but it was dark and gray and not at all inviting. And there didn't seem to be much in the way of activities other than coloring. When she went to physical therapy, she had a great time she thoroughly enjoyed getting to bounce balls and doing fun things, and riding a bike and she responded well. They do not have any private rooms there but they are remodeling. And they showed me where their memory care is, they said their new memory care activity room is the old assisted living dining room and it's going to be beautiful. It was at the end of COVID and they weren't eating in the dining room, but they would bring white bread with a piece of meat and maybe a piece of cheese on it, no lettuce, or tomato, so the food wasn't that great.

My loved one was sent to BCH&L following a prolonged hospital stay. He was dependent for self care and mobility. The day he arrived, he was put in his room, he received absolutely no medications the entire night and was unable to call for help because the call light was placed out of reach. We were offered nothing but excuses for these grave oversights and we immediately moved him to another facility. Staff was not helpful, stating they are overwhelmed, having a staffing ratio of 27/1. if you have family there, keep a close eye on them. We wouldn't even give them a "one rating" but there was no other option.

I am very dissatisfied with my moms care. The memory care unit has 23 patients at this time and not enough staff to care for them. I sat in and watched the staff care for those around them. The two staff available that day were very overwhelmed with the load of care for 23 patients . No activities were offered , patients were left alone and unsafe while the 2 staff that were caring for the 23 patients were taking care of another patient down the hallway. I watched as one of the patients pushed another patient backward into a table, another patient was in another patients room eating her candy, another patient kept asking me to take her to the bathroom. The staffing is unsafe, the care is poor due to low staffing, I showered my mom and toileted her. Please do not put you family member in this facility. The only reason my mom is there bc she is so close I can go get her and drop in anytime. If there is someplace better or close I will be watching for that opportunity. This is a for profit facility so they will try and pack as many patients in as possible and this is what they have done in the memory care unit .

I have no idea why this place gets high state ratings.....I would never put anyone I care about here. The rooms are small and shared in memory care where my brother has been and probably should not be. My sister picked the place out of convenience for her. My brother, a life long athlete, has no one to talk with, very little exercise, seems over-medicated and says he despises the place. Says the food is horrible and almost always cold. In my numerous visits I have seen dirty floors, smell of urine, activities fit for children, nothing educational or interesting on TV. Can say staff is fairly nice but management talks out of both sides of their mouths, does NOT advocate for their patients and can be difficult to communicate with. Very expensive for what one gets. Newer places a few minutes away would serve any patient's needs in a much more modern, clean, wholesome, more economical way.

Brown was great. We didn't have any issues. I was impressed with the cleanliness, and they worked well with the family members. They had activities, donuts, and a calendar full of different things to do.

What a fantastic place! Brown County Health and Living has the most caring team of staff you will find in this area. I am a daughter of a current resident. My mother fell ill very quickly and lived in another State. The out-of-State facility my mother was taken to from the hospital before transferring here was nothing like it is here! I wanted my mother near me and we needed to take immediate action and this place helped me every step of the way. I had no clue where to start and they held my hand every step we took. Starting with the Admissions department, ALWAYS friendly and helpful and as I said before, they helped with the process of transferring my mother out of state which was not an easy process. But not one time did they let me down! The Administrator, ALWAYS goes that extra step for us, when we might have a question that has stumped me, she is always willing to help us figure it out. The Nursing and Aides staff, what can I say but AMAZING! They have tough jobs and I appreciate them so much. They have the kindest hearts and always have a smile on their faces. They are genuine people that really do care! The cleaning and maintenance staff always make it nice and clean and they work hard to accommodate any request we might have. The dining room is very pleasant with all the windows that overlook the beautiful country-side scenery of Brown County, and what a view to enjoy looking out each day while you are eating your meals. The cooking staff makes delicious, nutritious meals, and my mother says that they make the best desserts, that is what she likes best! Her room overlooks a beautiful gazebo area where flowers are planted all summer long. When my mother entered her room she stated it looked like a picture out of Better Homes and Gardens! Throughout the day, the facility provides a full agenda of activities that my mother can attend. They accommodate all types of activates for all physical circumstances. Before her illness, my mother lived in an assisted community and by far, Brown County Health and Living offers a lot more for her than her previous facility provided. To attest to some of the family-surrounding actives, the staff puts on a summer picnic and a holiday event and on occasion, they even take rides around Brown County! This is taking that extra step that most places won’t do. It is the small things that make a big impression! The therapy department is patient and thorough with my mother’s needs. I appreciate their can-do attitudes in assisting with my mother’s health. I chose this facility because it was a smaller facility and the facility is extremely friendly. This place has gone out of their way to make us feel so welcome. When we first arrived from out of state, we were greeted by a hug and we knew this place was more than a facility, it was staffed by kindness and love. If you have a loved one who needs more assistance than you can provide them, I would totally recommend this facility to you!

What a great place! They have the most caring staff and the therapy team is amazing. With the care I received from Brown County after my knee replacement, I was able to return home after only 14days! I recommend this facility to everyone!

Just stay away. This place over the last year has went downhill very quickly. The staff is uncompassionate , all the good ones are gone. My mother has been treated terrible and will be leaving as soon as I can get her out of there. The location is great, close to downtown Nashville. And I chose it because it was a smaller facility and I hoped the environment would be friendly. While there are some good ones, they don't have much daily interaction with the residents. The administrator is never there, and I can't get ahold of her to even have a meeting. There hasn't been a director of nursing to speak with, and the woman I did talk to was rude. Like I was bothering her. Sad to see such a great community go down the pots.

Brown County Health and Living's location was convenient for us. I lived in the same town as the facility so I knew the people in the area. The rooms were basic. They kept them clean. They were big enough for 2 beds. There was nothing special about them but it was important to me that the staff did take care of their facility. If there were any complaints it would be that the food wasn't great. The people seemed to be very caring though. I felt they addressed my parents' needs and they were always there to listen if I had any concerns. They made sure I was happy with the facility. There were times that the atmosphere seemed depressing since it's a nursing home. My father especially didn't feel like there was much for him. His condition wasn't as bad as my mom's, therefore he felt kind of isolated. My mom didn't seem to complain about the services though.
