My mom has been staying at Five Star Residences in Lafayette. We haven't had any real issues with them. I think the biggest issue now is that she is in the independent living part and she's in a cottage outside, so we're probably going to search for a place where she would be inside the facility, something she can eventually grow into a higher level of care, that is something they don't have at Five Star. They do have assisted living, but they don't have any nursing care or anything living forward. I think the staff is good, but they have a big turnover regularly, so we're always learning someone new. The food is good and she likes the chef right now, but they come and go as well. She's independent, so that's probably why I think they've done a good job at trying to keep the facility up and keep it moving. We don't have any true complaints about them. We've not had any issues with communication either, they're always available to talk to. The facility is also clean and tidy.

Five Star Residences of Lafayette was bright, airy, and large. The staff was kind. The unit was nice. I don't think they had any two-bedrooms, which my parents would have wanted. They didn't take Medicaid, which was something that would be needed later. It was all private pay. Their calendar showed that they had stuff going on all week long. They did trips to stores. The bus took them places all week long. The dining room was nice looking. They were getting ready to play bingo as we were leaving.

I found the staff at Five Star Residences of Lafayette to be welcoming and caring. The facility was very well maintained, indoors and outdoors, and the residents that I interacted with seemed very pleased with their surroundings. I thought the amenities were excellent too and I was very pleased with it. They have a two-bedroom unit that has a detached garage and that garage is going to make a difference for me. They also offer field trips, classes in painting, and different types of art, and music programs.

My mom was in the Five Star Residences of Lafayette for a while. It was pretty good, sometimes they were short-staffed, which every place at that time that I've heard was short staffed with nurses, that part made it difficult, but other than that, the lady was nice to work with, and she enjoyed it. They have the food prep, they clean the rooms, they take care of their medicines, they do have transport to different activities, like going shopping or something. With COVID that might have stopped, but at that time they were having bingo and birthday gatherings. They have a little theater room, they have a room with books and puzzles in it, and I'd see people in there.

I was in assisted living at Five Star and I had to move because they said I required too much care and was a fall risk. I fell two times and I thought that was crazy. It used to be called Rosewalk Commons, but they changed the name in the last year. It was a nice facility. I had two rooms; I had a living room and a bedroom. It was clean. The food was excellent because they had a chef that cooked. I mean, it was a good thing, and I enjoyed being there or I wouldn't have been there as long as I was. The told me, "If you stay, because you require so much care, your monthly bill will go from $7,000 to $22,000," a month. I have an insurance policy that pays for me wherever I go, but I told them they were taking advantage of that, so that's the reason I moved. They fired and hired a staff so quick, so I would give the staff a three. The food was five; it was good food. If you didn't feel like eating what they gave you they would fix something else for you. When I left, the manager that they had was a man, and I thought when he came it was very good, but I found out later he wasn't. Because of COVID, my friend tells me that they don't have activities like we used to have there. We used to have people there that would come in and play music, we played bingo, and we had different people come in and talk to us about things, and they don't have that now.

Five Star Residences of Lafayette was very nice, but a little older facility. The staff was very nice and took time to talk to us and sit down with my mother. They had an activity room, and they had kids come and sing Christmas carols to them. The dining room was nice. We had supper there, and it was good. They had a room that was too small, but it was big enough for one person. The corner room was very nice and bright.

We were very impressed. It had a lot to offer for the price, and the people were very nice. It was immaculate, and we just really appreciated this place. It was also close to shopping and that kind of thing -- on the bus line and all that. The floor plans and the cleanliness were awesome. We looked at the apartments. One of them, they said, was a two-bedroom, and it looked more like a three-bedroom. It had an extra sun room at the back, all the carpet had been redone, and it had been repainted and had modern appliances. It was very impressive. Out of anything that I’ve ever seen, this is the best one I have ever seen.

I visited, and it was very nice. It fit his needs pretty well. The garden home would have been very nice and more reasonable for him. It would have been ideal, and he would even have a space for his car. He can still drive, so he would have liked that because he wants to go to church. There was also a pastor, who has a home there, and he has mass every single day in a little chapel, so that would have been very accommodating.

My husband is living here. They seem good. The people that work there are nice. He likes it. They have good food, good care, and plenty of activities. He is doing yoga and crafts. They do have bingo and movies. They have like a little movie theater there. They have a little bus that takes them out in the community and takes the residents shopping once a week. They provide transportation to doctor's appointments. My husband's room is nice. The price made me decide to move him there.

It was a very nice facility. The lady whom I talked to, showed me around and was very friendly and knowledgeable. She answered all my questions. The rooms were spacious and clean. I liked the services they provided. It was just a pleasant place to be and see.

I used to live in Lafayette so I knew the vicinity. I called and set up an appointment. It was a beautiful place. Very well maintained, very nice facility, I liked the dining room and how the apartments are setup. Basically, the residents are more on their own, and that's what we wanted for mom because she's quite capable. She just has some health issues that makes it a little difficult to do everything on her own. But with the cost even with the VA help, it was totally out of the question for us. I would recommend them to others. It's a very nice facility.
