Because we live in NC, we relied heavily on feedback from the nursing staff. We were very hands-on (via phone and/or e-mail) with the business office, receptionist and nurses. We never doubted that our family member was getting loving care. We could call any time to speak to the head of nursing or the nurses handling the day-to-day care of our family member.

The physical appearance of Cedar Ridge of Fort Wayne was great. The outside is very well kept, and the inside is very clean. The lady that toured me around was very helpful. She answered all of my questions completely. She made sure that I understood everything that she was saying. They showed me the activity room, and I did see a courtyard in the back. The rooms were very nice. They were very well updated. They looked like home.

Apple Ridge was lovely. You have to buy and take your own furniture for the rooms. I thought the guy was absolutely wonderful, he was delightful, and that would have been my first choice in that part of town. My problem is I don't wanna have to drive 30 minutes to get there and 30 minutes back home a couple of times a day. They include the memory care in the assisted living activities.

My Mother and Father moved into Apple Ridge 4 years ago and it was the best decision we ever made as a family. My parents were ready and willing to move and have thrived in their new social setting. My Father has since passed but my Mother is still active and enjoys her smaller apartment and is well taken care of. I can not say enough about the staff. They have been amazing to my parents and are very kind and considerate to the family's concerns and needs. Darlene is a wonderful Activities Director. I sleep well and have peace of mind knowing God is in control and my Mother is in good hands. Pam

My mom has moved into Apple Ridge. She is in a studio apartment. It is very nice, clean, and spacious. It also has a small kitchen and a full bathroom. She really likes the food, which is a factor in her staying there. The staff is very courteous. My mom is just having a great time. They have a game room and a video room. Also family members can make arrangements to hold a larger room and have a private gathering there. So far, so good. My mom is happy with the activities that she is involved with. The place is very clean and very up-to-date. The value for the money is excellent.

We went to two places and mom selected it primarily because it was smaller and because it was incredibly personal. Every single person including the wait staff knew the residents personally and the family visiting in assisted living. Those same administrators greeted them by name and asked about the loved one who was staying there and that was just incredibly impressive. The schedule of events was incredible. They have a Russian doctor who does volunteer work for them on memory exercises and games, and Mom participated in that and she just immediately bonded with this young lady. It was a good fit from the get-go. The rooms were very nice. She would like a one-bedroom apartment and it was quite ample in size. We liked the idea that the dining area had small semi-private clusters around it so that you could be intimate with a small group or you could have larger spaces. The cook came out and chatted with us. It was very clean and the person that received and greeted us was personable right from the get-go. The staff longevity was incredibly impressive. The director has been there 13 years, the director of activities 11 years, and the chef for seven years.

The staff at Woodview was great. The rooms were good. They were about the size of everybody else's, and they were clean. The residents looked well. It's a nice community.

The tour was fine and very positive. I think the kind of negative was the dining area was too crowded. They had a lot of people with dementia, and the couple we were looking for is not in that stage yet. But they had good activities and a nice atmosphere. The staff was very nice, too.

My mother-in-law was here. It was smaller. They got a good cafeteria, and they got therapy. They don’t have a swimming pool, but my mother-in-law is almost 94 years old, so she doesn’t need all that stuff. The staff was friendly. Environment was good.

We chose it because we felt very comfortable with it and knew my mom would be comfortable there. The facility is fairly new, and the rooms are nice and clean. They have studio-type rooms. The food is good. The dining area is not too large and not too small, so it is OK. They have planned activities, too.
