My husband was at Wellbrooke of Carmel for respite care, and we liked everything about it. It was an older facility, but it was very well-kept. We were pleased with the care that he got and the food was excellent. They had a lot of open spaces. They had individual dining rooms for each area of the facility, and we liked that. They had a little kiosk where you could buy things if you wished. And they had a lot of activities going on. They had movies and a game area, they took them on field trips, and they had a big brunch for the whole community once a month.

My husband was in Wellbrook for 2 weeks after 2 weeks in the hospital for CHF. The rehab was first class, top notch rehabilitation. He went from a wheelchair to a walker within days. And came home and not using a walker. The food was excellent due to the chef’s knowledge of different diets. Dawn, Jade, Danny and many more were instrumental in his recovery. If you are looking for rehabilitation this is the place.

My father who suffered from CHF and dementia was admitted to the short term rehab after a minor stroke with plans to transfer to the memory care unit after his rehabilitation. The care on the rehab unit was average. The waits for care were long, but he was assisted out of bed and to the restroom as necessary. When he was transferred to the Memory Care, it was horrible. Shortly after his transfer we were not allowed to visit for 2 2 weeks due to a COVID outbreak. After 2 weeks we returned, and found that they had not assisted him in moving or walking during the entire 2 weeks. He was left to sit in the wheelchair all day. All the progress he made in rehab was gone. He had deteriorated horribly. When I would visit for almost the entire day, they would never come to check if his Depends were wet, unless I called and asked. Often when I came to visit he was so wet that it went all the way through the sheet. They also put 2 depends on him so they would change him less. I had several care conferences with the staff with no improvement. I had to push for them to transfer him to the skilled nursing care unit, as he had deteriorated so much. I also contacted Hospice Care to get them involved. He passed away about a week later. I would not recommend their memory care for a loved one. What we were told during the tour was not at all the care that he received.

I would highly recommend Wellbrooke of Carmel! My mom was treated as part of their “family “ while she was there. Every one was kind and courteous. She enjoyed the many activities and the food was wonderful.

My grandmother is currently a resident in the rehab wing at Wellbrooke. She has a modern, comfortable room with its own bathroom (and handicapped-accessible shower) and closet, and a in-room button to call for a nurse. The employees all act like they’re happy to work here and are invested in the health and well-being of the patients, and very welcoming to family and friends. Rehab for speech and physical therapy happens almost every day, and the therapists challenge the residents. There are weekly Jumbo Crossword activities, games, a truck from the library, bingo, and movie showings to keep everyone occupied, and a happy hour with hors d’oeurves every Friday. The food is pretty good, and the serving staff does a great job at remembering names and faces, and the residents are open and friendly with new faces in the dining room. Altogether, highly recommend this place!

Sorry, but when my husband was dying, Hospice was not allowed to ease his pain. The Wellbrooke nurse was out of control, and had to be escorted from the building. My husband suffered terribly, which was not nessesary.

Wellbrooke had a great front desk and a 2-story entryway with lots of light, tables, and sofas, where you can sit and visit with residents. It was very pretty. The staff was excellent, seemed to get along with each other, and knew how to work with older people who didn't want to move. My friend went into therapy, and they were nice to her. However, I wasn't impressed with the nurses' aides; they were hard to find, and the LPNs seemed overwhelmed.

I stayed at Wellbrooke of Carmel while my husband was in rehab. I like the location and the staff. The staff was very nice and very helpful. They had fresh fruits out. and we can get together with the other residents and socialize. They had puzzles and games, and those were nice.
