I had a friend that was living at this facility and I visited her at least 3 times a week and she was always happy that she was there , I know that it is an older place but is very well taken care of always clean and the staff are very friendly the housekeeping staff do a very good job and they have all private rooms and you can bring belongings with you to make your room your own and their public areas are very nice for visiting if you choose to use them and the court yard's are great in the summer, I have often had lunch with her in her room or dining room and the food is not bad,you can choose from a menu or they will fix you something like hamburger's, grilled cheese or chef salad the staff are always willing to help and are friendly . I know that everything is not perfect but they are working with people and many different personalities but I can say they do try to make it right and keep people happy and healthy so they have my vote when it comes time for me to need help in my life

My Mother has been here for almost 2 years and I keep hoping it will get better but it doesn't. I talk with her several times a week and see her at least once a week. The culture of the facility is secrets, lies and no confidentiality. The food is always cold and every 4-5 months they have a new chef. The activities director is different every 3-4 months. There is a new Business Mgr., Director of Nursing and Social Services Assistant during the time my Mother has been there. Some days there has only been a nurse on my Mothers hall dispensing meds and no CNA's to help the residents. They have been mean to my Mother as well as bullying one of her friends. All my Mother and others want to do is live out their lives in peace, having decent food to eat, and be cared for mentally and physically.

August 26, 2023. There is COVID in the facility! There is no posting on the door to this section that 3 people have tested positive to covid. This facility is very large with many different in and out doors.

Care on the weekends is terrible . They have little staff and residents have to fend for themselves. During the week it's not to bad but all it takes is one infection that goes unchecked and your loved one is at risk for not being with you anymore . Their rehab unit is always well staffed .

When my grandmother initially was admitted to this facility after a hard COVID 19 illness that completely debilitated her, going from living alone in her home, to needing 24 hr care, to eventually passing away, the staff was barely helpful at all. I had to schedule a separate time to have a care plan conversation with the staff—which was well over a week after her admittance. When insurance lapsed they forced me, her grandson to take on full financial responsibility in order to continue their care. Aside from that, they never acted as any sort of fiduciary custodian of her financial outcomes, moving us to private pay coverage as soon as they possibly could without letting us know that changing her medicare coverage would've gotten her additional coverage for a much longer period of time. Finally, after her passing, the company never attempted even touching base with me personally before deciding to file a lawsuit against me demanding the total $7000+ bill she left PLUS lawyer fees. Awful business with even worse staff. I highly discourage sending your loved one here.

Awful care. Terrible communication. The PT, OT & ST therapists were actually great, but they have so many patients to see, they literally sprint out of the room when therapy is over. Nursing care is atrocious: patients with watery diarrhea from too many laxatives keep getting laxatives given to them! Patients sit in their own filth for hours waiting to be helped. If we hadn't moved our Mom to a new facility, I feel sure she would have died or been driven literally crazy if she had stayed here.

This company does not care about their staff which trickles down to horrible patient care. The staff are moved all the time do you never get the same staff twice. Transportation is a joke my family member missed critical appointments. The food is always cold and almost never what she ordered.

One of my best friends grandmother and grandfather were residents at Carmel Health and Living before they passed. The care was amazing and everyone was always so friendly when when we would visit. Her Wedding day we all went up to the community so she could take pictures with her grandfather, The staff was so sweet!

I am a friend of a resident who was at Carmel Health and Living for awhile and I got to see them get her to a place where she wanted to be and that was to get back home to her family. The staff is friendly and they care and the therapy team did a great job.

Carmel Health & Living Community was very nice, but there were a few people sitting around just kind of dazed-looking. The place looked pretty clean.

I think Carmel Health & Living is a nice facility. I like the way it's kept. The rooms are nice, the staff is nice, and they have a lot of activities. My dad is able to get out and socialize a little bit. He's on a feeding tube, but he would like to get off that feeding tube and we're working on that. The administration is a lot nicer, too. They recognize the residents as a real person and not just as a number. We came from another facility, so it's pretty comparable.

Cleanliness and good staff. They've been doing it since 1976 apparently.
