I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom has been at Majestic Care of Bloomington. They have pretty good social activities. They do a lot of activities, and they're doing a really good job with her therapy, and working very hard with that, so those are the real positives. They seem to be short-staffed because it takes a long time for them to take care of things. They are running around constantly trying to keep up with all the demands and needs of the patients. She has to share a room, but the person she's with is a really, really nice person, so that isn't a problem. The dining area is adequate. They have a large recreational activity area and a therapy area, so they have a pretty good-sized facility there. The room itself that she shares is fairly small. There isn't a whole lot of space. It's almost like a hospital bedroom. It's not got a lot of space for anything except one little closet and chest drawers and a shared bathroom, so it's kind of confining. I have been there when my mother has been eating, and they haven't always got that right. Some of it she doesn't really like a lot of. It's either really bland or they forget to add something, like if you order a hamburger and it's supposed to have ketchup, mustard, and pickle or onions, she only gets onions and no ketchup and mustard. Sometimes they forget to provide a dessert. They're kind of limited, and it's not the best as far as feeding and dining goes. It's not the best quality. My mom goes to therapy twice a day. They have a therapist, and they take her in twice a day to do what they feel she's capable of doing, and try to improve it a little bit at a time. The therapist has a couple of assistants, so it's not like she's waiting for one person to work with her. They have activities where they do things like coloring or getting their nails painted or doing some kind of activity together as a group. They play games, they have bingo, and things like that they do together.

Garden Villa is a nursing home. They have a lockdown unit for Alzheimer's, and they also have a memory care program. The staff is wonderful and are taking very good care of my mom. The rooms are just small but adequate, and they have activities.

Mom is at Garden Villa. The staff as well as the rehab personnel there were very nice, caring, and considerate. The facility is clean. Although I really don't know all the activities that they have in there, but I do know that second Tuesday of every month there is a church that is allowed to come in and hold church services.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

there were a few nursses working there that had been there for several years whom genuinely cared for the residents.as far as the hosekeeping,,it was a complete the dissapointment and hope that none of my loved ever have to stay there. you could walk past resident rooms and see trash that looked as if it had not been taken out for several days,,dried food in the dining room on the floor and counters with spilt coffee around the microwave that had been there for quit some time.i did have a discussion with one housekeeper who said that it would do no good to speak with housekeeping management do to the fact that she also supervised at another retirement home in another county and that was her baby. if not for the few nures who made an effort to give the best care possible garden villa along with so many othere retirement homes would cause any person to fear growing older.

The facility was nice, it did not have a good smell. The employees were not as nice as I thought they would be. When you would walk down the hallways residents were sitting in their wheelchairs with food all over their mouths, there hair had not been brushed and it did not look like they were changed and got any attention. One thing that I personally did not like was the fact that my family member did not get the best quality of care meaning he was not turned on a regular basis which resulted in him getting bed sores that were eventually infected. I would not put any of my loved ones in a facility like that since my visit.

I visited this facility

My experience with this facility was primarily negative. While there were several employees that were attentive to the residents and seemed to be working hard, there were even more employees that were not. I saw 2 residents that needed a complete clothing change due to incontinence, yet they sat unattended while I saw employees standing around talking and even eating. There is also a big difference between the different sections of the nursing facility. The section that is meant for rehabilitation is much nicer, kept cleaner, etc, while other areas that are for residents there long term seem much less clean and appealing.

Garden Villa is a very clean and friendly place to recooperate. My husband was there for over 2 months while receiving therapy to walk. All staff is very friendly and good at their job.

I visited this facility

When my fathern-n-law was in this facility. They were very good to him. They tended to anything and everything that he needed. Everything was clean and the staff were wonderful. I would highly recommend this facility to other people.
