My mother spent the final year and a half of her life at Cedarhurst Bloomington. This is a wonderful memory-care facility. The management and staff were not only very professional and thorough in providing care to my mother, but they genuinely cared about her. They made her feel welcome and loved. Everyone always took time to speak to me and answer any questions when I would visit. The facility is bright and welcoming. Mom's room was nice, overlooking the courtyard. Mom always said that the food was good, too. Rhiannon, Jennifer, and Stormy were exceptional in their roles, as were many others, whose names I unfortunately do not remember. I rate Cedarhurst Bloomington 5 stars without reservation. ...Steve B

My parents moved in at Cedarhurst of Bloomington. They do offer secure units and lots of programs. I like the staff. They seem very attentive. The facility is very nice. They have a private room, and it is very nice, bright, and cheerful. They seem to have a good activity schedule. Just based on the move-in, I was very impressed.

I went to Cedarhurst of Bloomington. The building itself was built with memory care patients specifically. It was like a letter G where there was one long hall, but then there was a space that was more of a circle or a walk about with an internal atrium. It was very similar to the other place I went to. The rooms were furnished with the minimum needs. They usually put two people in a room, but you can have your own deluxe room; it would be bigger than the little studio that they would put the memory care patients in. They had a walk-in bath option. That was something that I was hoping to find for my mom because she has a walk-in bath here at our house. I particularly liked that. I didn't get to sample food, and I really didn't get to see activities in progress. They have a courtyard in the middle of the building. There's no walking path because they really are memory care. They want to maintain safety concerns specific to memory care people. They can have pets. They can walk their own pet or the CNAs will walk the pet for them and help them take care of their pet. In terms of an outdoor walking path or something outside of the building itself, there was nothing there. The fee is a little bit more expensive. I think it's $5000, or $6000, depending on the kind of room. This was another one of my concerns because mom doesn't have very much money, so I'm trying to stretch it for her. It did include a furnished room, laundry, all their health care providers on call, and onsite. They do housekeeping, laundry, medications, and taking their people to and from doctor's visits. It truly is for people who are in the final stages of their memory loss.

My father was charged $1,000 because he didn't clear out my stepmothers' belongings fast enough, I guess, after she died at Cedarhurst. My stepmother died late afternoon on a Thursday. My father is elderly and legally blind. He called the movers Friday morning. He couldn't get them there until Monday morning. They had removed her belongings by noon on Monday. Where is your compassion? My father has paid a great deal of money over the years for her care there. Couldn't you be flexible about removing her belongings considering my father's age and disability? The bill was dated the Saturday after she died. That's not even 48 hours after her death. It’s really awful of you to bill my father $1,000 for this.

Only half of what is on their website about staff, amenities and the facility in general is true. In 2 years we have never had the Director of Wellness share a care plan with us. There is no yoga and only certain residents are taken on outings. I have been in this facility on multiple occasions where there was only one aide and a QMA ( who is a CNA that can pass meds) for the entire day. They have a great staff for the most part but the corporation Cedarhurst is just shy of being corporate raiders, they care NOTHING about the residents. We are moving our loved one, do not consider this place.

My mom passed away, and she was at Cedarhurst of Bloomington. They did a great job. The staff was friendly, available, and very cooperative, especially during these times. My mom never complained about the food, and she wasn't really up to doing their activities.

I would highly recommend Autumn Hills for a love one. The facility is made for the residents to feel at home, no restrictions as to where they can go inside the facility other than like the kitchen or laundry. I can’t say enough about the staff. They make it easy to leave and go home without worry. They are loving and caring to all residents. They show them the respect they deserve. Always looking for ways to improve, and open for suggestions. It’s clean and safe for the residents. We looked at other facilities and was impressed by the homey feeling we got when we walked into Autumn Hills. We have not been disappointed.

My mom was at Autumn Hills Alzheimer's Special Care Center. It's a very pretty and homey place. The rooms are nice, and they had roommates. Financially, we could not keep her there any longer because they didn't accept Medicaid patients. Everyone was nice.

We have been extremely pleased with the care our mother has received. There are some outstanding caregivers and administrators who constantly strive to improve the care the residents get. Since Alzheimers is by definition an unpredictable disease, there are naturally times when care can't be given exactly as planned, but I would say that the staff - all, including the kitchen - are extremely well-trained and keep a watchful eye on the residents. The activities are terrific. I've arrived many times to find many residents smiling, chatting, doing an activity, or singing along to live or recorded music. There's also a lovely courtyard and nice days will find many enjoying the sun and gardens. We feel very fortunate to have found Autumn Hills.

I went with my sisters Autumn Hills, and we were all impressed. It was nice and the people working seemed to do a good job of engaging the residents. Even our guide would greet everybody that she passed, and they knew her name. It seemed like it would be a really nice place to stay.

Very poor facility for residents with Dementia. The residents are not monitored or encouraged to participate in activities because there are no cognitive opportunities provided for residents here. The residents supervise themselves while the staff is busy doing who knows what. I was there today for 30 minutes and never saw 1 staff person with the residents. The only person I saw "working" was the girl sitting in the front lobby who unlocks the entry door. I could have walked out with any resident and no one would have known. I'm looking for another facility now. I would never recommend this facility.

Autumn Hills Alzheimer's Special Care Center has several floors and a fancy dining area. It’s kind of built into the hills. They have a few private rooms and a lot of semi-private, but we didn’t want to go that route. The woman who took us on a tour was friendly and knowledgeable. I don't have any complaints about them.

Very unprofessional, uncaring establishment. I had an appt with the social worker to fill out paper work for respite care. I showed up and the social worker was a no show. Instead, the receptionist talked to me to say she was there to help me instead but she didn't really know what the social worker and I spoke about and the reason of my visit. She said, "you just want resources" when the reason for my visit was to fill out paperwork. I already have all the literature from a previous visit. After I left, I called the receptionist to tell her that just blowing off an appt with a client is not acceptable, specially since they are in the business of caring and dealing with people under a lot of stress. My voice was stressed and I was upset but I wasn't screaming. She said, I can't scream at her or she'll hang up the phone, then before I can respond she hang up the phone. Where's the compassion and the professionalism that one should expect from an institution like this? I can just imagine how they treat patients staying there who have dementia and can't speak for themselves. One would think that they would treat the family decently at least until the patient is in so one if left to wonder how bad they get after that.
