This was supposed to be a 5 star facility. The career rehab people are okay. The aides are only there for a paycheck. Medical notes don't get passed on to the proper people. The facility is beginning to deteriorate. Paneling in the rooms are coming unglued. There's holes in the walls that are patched but not finished. Drain lines from an air conditioner run down by the door done by a shoddy workman. Plaster from somewhere laying by a door since who knows when? By all means take a tour but notice the details. I would not recommend this place.

The staff that cared for my mother were beyond AWESOME, the management staff the absolute opposite. They lost most items that were left for her, or it took days for them to be given to her (supposedly COVID guidelines). My mother is obese & when it came time to take her to a Doctor appt they did not ensure that they had the proper transportation for a larger person. Their transport van does not support anything but a standard width wheelchair. I find it hard to believe that a nursing home would not have had proper transportation means for all types of people, she is far from the only obese person in this world. Her insurance ran out & they scheduled her to go home 1 week after this missed doctors appointment. Shockingly, NOT, she was scheduled to come home on Monday but it had to be canceled because they could not transport her. It took 2 more days before they found another local service that brought her home. After being home 24 hours she decided to call & get home health care to assist her. And again, the management staff failed her, they never notified my mother that she would receive home health care after her release. The HHC knew she was due to be sent home but had yet to be notified that she was actually home. I can't say enough good things about the personal care that she received at Westview, but the actual non medical management staff really needs to step up their game. If another stay is needed we will definitely return to Westview but I personally be communicating daily with the management. The obvious things management overlook is surprising considering how amazing the care staff is.

My grandmother was in the Alzheimer's Unit at Westview for 4 years before she passed. I think the main issue that bothered me the most was night shift seemed to get really frustrated with the clients. Many ALZ patients do not have a concept of night or day or what it means to rest...sadly, it is the nature of the beast. Maybe a little more training or retraining in this area would help.
