I had an in-person tour of Betz Senior Villas. The community did appeal to me. I would call it a duplex, like two houses connected. There are some nice walking paths that appealed to me. As far as the building itself, there's one bedroom and two bedrooms. I thought they were nicely laid out and not so small that I would feel claustrophobic. They all came with appliances, like a dishwasher, a stove, a refrigerator, a microwave, and a washer and dryer. Their rent is connected to your income. There is no staff, but there's somebody on the premises all the time. The person who showed me around simply manages the place. There's a nice little outdoor area with a small pond. They don't have empty units to let you tour. They just have a resident who agrees to allow people to tour her particular living unit.

We were very pleased with Betz Senior Villas. It's a little on the small side as to what I expected. The price is reasonable, and it's a nice, quiet little community. It's rather small, the whole community. They're duplexes with garages. The dining area, kitchen, and living room are kind of one long room, with kitchen being at the one far end and living room at the entry. It could be furnished, you can enlarge the living room or enlarge the dining area, whichever is preferred. It's a relatively small area, but it's doable. We definitely want to downsize from where we're at anyway. There's no food provided; this is totally independent living for me. The staff who gave me the tour, she was very pleasant. There's a walking path that goes into a wooded area, and there's a small pond with a gazebo and a nice, cemented walking path that leads into that area. There was no staff for care or for serving food. It's just the staff would be doing the maintenance outdoors and indoors, and the woman who gave us a tour.
