If you don't love your loved one and want them to code..this is the place.. the nurse admitted that they was short staffed.. patients walking around in depends that are sagging to their knees.. patients leaving the doors and bystanders would have to stop them.. the bathrooms had poop rubbed all over them..they don't even give their meds..

It was okay. Definitely something I would never want to be sent to. My family tried to keep her out of a nursing home as long as possible, but had to resort to putting her there. While I was there, the alarm was going off because a patient had went out a back door. They responded and got her back inside quickly. My grandmother fell and broke her hip and has had a lot of problems since then. She was moved to another facility recently out in Edwardsville, IL. I am not too sure why yet. Anyways, the ladies at the home were nice, and I knew a few of them through my work.

My grandmother and uncle (her brother) both live in VIP Manor in Wood River, IL. Both suffer from Alzheimer's and unfortunately our family does not have the means to house and properly care for my grandmother on a daily basis. It took us a long time to make the decision to put her in a full-time care facility. After having visited many of the nursing homes in the area, we chose VIP. The facility is conveniently located and easy to find. Also, the nurses and staff are very friendly. Prior to committing to this particular facility, we heard both warm and doubtful reviews. However, my grandmother has not had any bad experiences in the place and the nurses always express understanding of her condition. Alzheimer's patients can be combative and my grandmother can get a little sassy, but the staff took it all in stride. Every time I have visited it has been during a movie so all of the residents are watching movie and typically swoon over my 3 year old daughter. I would recommend this place to another and advise them of all that I've heard as well. The decision to commit a loved one into a full-time or assisted living care facility is not an easy one to make. The decision should be well-rounded and take in the positive reviews with the negative.

The only qualm I have ever had about this nursing home is the fact that my grandmother had to be admitted to the hospital due to dehydration. I felt that the staff members could have done more to make sure that she was getting enough fluid. She is an Alzheimers patient, and is in the late stages of it, so she needs constant care and looking after. At the same time, she is an Alzheimer's patient, and cannot take care of herself, and maybe they thought she was getting enough fluid, but she was disposing of it in some other manner. Other than that one thing, I think the girls there are great! My great uncle Charlie is right around the corner from my grandmother, so I think it helps her a little with remembering things from her past.
