After visiting a loved one here every day for months, talking with other patients and staff members, this is not a place I would ever send anyone. Management seem oblivious to the obvious serious issues this place has. They either don’t know or don’t seem to care. Their “chef prepared” meals are anything but that. They’re all reheated prepared meals from an outside vendor. The meal choices are weird, menus are rarely an option. Your told they’re posted in the hallway which isn’t helpful to bedridden patients. Even then items on the menu don’t often match what’s on your plate. The food almost always looks like last week’s leftovers and it is almost always cold. “Chef prepared” meals is a lie. They don’t use both halves of insulated serving plates. The best thing about this place is the hands on therapists who seem to really care. Furnishings are sparse and rooms aren’t cleaned regularly enough. Bring your own TV because you can easily end of with one the size of a laptop screen. TV will be your companion because staff doesn’t regularly check on patients enough. Push the call button and you could wait for an hour or more. The place is woefully understaffed and relies almost entirely on temps who may or may not be any good. Medications aren’t always given on time. Patients with incontinence are at the mercy of CNAs that are either very good or very bad or nonexistent playing with their cell phones while call lights are flashing. Weekends are scary. They reduce staff on weekends. One weekend it was one nurse and two CNAs for 60+ patients and the next day it was only one of each. My heart goes out to the long term permanent patients here who have to rely on such inconsistent indifferent care. This dreary place isn’t a place anyone would want to spend one more day than necessary. There are some good nurses and CNAs here who really try hard. Unfortunately some of them burn out and leave. This place needs to be shut down and reorganized from top to bottom with proper management and resources. There are some really good rehab nursing homes if your do your homework. This one is the worst of 5 that I’ve experienced.

This is the WORST excuse for a nursing home I have ever lived in. The staff is lazy and hides. They are short staffed always and have so much turn over. The nurses neglected to send people out. The facility is dirty and smells disgusting. So old and out dated. They miss medicine, leave you in your dirty diaper for hours, no showers, no activities and the food is disgusting. Run from here you will leave in worse shape they don't care and are so short staffed. Upper management has no communication

My mom has been in the Manorcare of Westmont. I've only been at the front desk because of the COVID lockdown. The day that she got in, a physical therapist and nurse called, which was good, but they didn't call us back. When my sister and I called, the phone just kept ringing, and didn't get to my mom. I call the nursing station sometimes, and the main line just rings and nobody answers, but I finally got to talk to her today, so that's good. She was transferred there through an ambulance and was in isolation. During that brief time, they were allowing one visitor to come in, but she couldn't have one anyway because she was in that isolation period. Then an employee got COVID, so they shut the whole place down. She's in a shared room now, and I just saw the facility from the outside. It's nestled between two car dealerships, and kind of down the hill.

My mother was brought to Manorcare in Westmont for hospice care. The amount of time a patient has to wait for a nurse to answer their call is horrible. Usually anywhere from 10-15 minutes if not longer. There are also many aids there who are just plain rude or have no patience with the elderly people there. To top it off, upon returning to Manorcare after my mom passed away, many of her belongings "disappeared". According to a staff member, he had cleaned her room after she passed and had not seen these items (a couple books, a cellphone, clothes, etc). If you have to put an elderly family member here, I'd recommend not leaving any items there with them unless they are fully aware of everything they brought with them. Otherwise, I'd highly recommend finding a much better and more respectful place.

In general, Manorcare of Westmont was good but I had some serious concerns about their level of skill with catheters. I learned a lot just going around the internet and asking around about the proper catheter care, cleanliness, and best practices, and they did not follow them and complicated things. I thought their physical therapy was great. My father had been there three separate times and did so well with the physical therapy. My mother was there for a short time, too, but we transferred her out of there quickly. While she was there, she caught C. diff. She was just at a very low point there, but we thought there should have been extra care given to her situation. As far as transferring from one patient to another, I didn’t see much care. When we went in there, we had to wear gloves and gowns, but then the physician’s assistant would come in, and she’d be touching the bedding and she’d say she was a professional. I have since found out about C. diff being rampant over there, and if had we had any idea about that, I don’t know that we would have brought her there. They did not test her for a UTI, and we told them there was a good chance that she was still having a UTI. She nearly died because she had C. diff and a UTI at the same time. It felt like had I not raised the red flag, I don’t know if they would have sent her to the ER. I was stunned by their laid-back attitude. The food looked more colorful but I thought it was incredibly not nutritional. There wasn’t a fresh vegetable or fruit in sight. Everything had gravy on it.

Facility would be ok it if had more staff especially at night. Also most patients don's seem to eat the food and it seems like a colossal waste. The physical therapy department is excellent.
