As a health professional that frequently visits elderly care homes I rate this particular care home on 555 Marion ave Excellent. Our father lived here for a year before we moved back to Texas . The staff is so caring and worked to aide our dad in dealing with his dementia and emotional ups and down. As a hospice nurse my belief is that the elderly function BEST in a small loving environment .A consistent routine and familiar staff is vital to there comfort and adjustment......you will find it here at Halina's ! The owner is fabulous at listening to your concerns and truly works to apply your suggestions . We miss you ....and thank you for all you did for Mr Percy !

I would NOT recommend Halina's to anyone. She did not provide properly for my grandparents while they were in one of her homes in St. Charles. The home was understaffed, not too wheel chair friendly, and Halina herself was very unfriendly. My grandpa went into Halina's still walking a little, and pretty active, but in about 5 months I saw a very different man. Stuck in his bed and chair all day, not eating, not going outside (whether it be because he didn't want to or because "it is too hard to get him out"), and miserable. He would lay in bed and not be changed (clothes and depends) for hours or even the whole day. He had very few personal needs, just basic things like wanting to be put in bed (which he had to wait sometimes an hour for) or wanting to go on outside (which they told him he couldn't because they couldn't get his wheelchair through the door to the deck or it was too hard for them) or being warm and wanting his long sleeved shirt off (which the caregiver denied to help take off, and walked out of the room and closed the door behind her. Luckily I was there to help). There was also only 1 door that was wheelchair accessible in the home, and with 5 residents (4 of them in wheelchairs) and only 1 caretaker, I felt like that was a hazard. I was sitting outside with my grandparents while people where touring the home and my grandma looked at me and said, "I wish they knew the truth about this place, they are just being lied to" I felt awful and heartbroken hearing this. I'm hoping that o can prevent at least 1 person from going to Halina's and find anywhere else to go. Since moving into Halina's in January of 2016, my grandfather has passed away and my grandmother has moved out.

My mother-in-law, Ilene, has been living at Halina's since September 2014. Halina's is a private home with 6 residents and 2 live-in caregivers. The caregivers are compassionate, knowledgeable and highly experienced with geriatric care. Having the same caregivers 24/7 has been the key to maintaining a consistent routine in which mom is thriving. They are so in tune with each resident that they know immediately when something is wrong. Individualized home cooked meals and snacks ensures everyone gets to eat what they like. We could not be happier with the quality of care mom receives there. Halina's is a warm, loving family, not an impersonal facility.

My Father Matthew was in the care of Halina's Residential Home care from December of 2014 until he passed on August 31st. 2015. The care was excellent and the care Takers were full of love. They cooked according to the needs of my Father. They were very accommodating to him as an individual. When my Dad was declining they always kept me posted and treated him with such dignity and kindness. Always kept a clean home. The kept him clean as well and at the end of his life it was uaually Halina or 1 of the caretakers who could make him smile. I would highly reccomend Halinas's for a loved one.

Halina’s Home Care is a residential home. They have room for 6 residents, and for my mother-in-law, this is the best. There are 2 caregivers 24/7. They’re very helpful; there is a little bit of a language problem because they speak Polish, but everybody gets along. It’s very clean. My husband and I did have some soup, and it was very tasty, but I have not had any other food. My mother-in-law enjoys the food; I know it’s better than what she was having. It has been about a month and a half, and for everything -- medications and doctors -- it has worked out very nicely.
