I am a resident of Abbington now for the past five years and I love it. The staff is very friendly and always available to help you when needed. My room is very spacious and swept and mopped on a daily basis. My laundry is fantastic we turn it in at the end of the day and get everything back folded nicely and ironed the next day by 2;00pm. Our activities dept keeps us busy with a variety of games and crafts to do through out the day. The kitchen keeps us well fed with a variety of different meals and a snack at night before bed. Most of all our administrator Janet C. goes above and beyond the call of duty in keeping the facility running like a well greased machine. Janet takes the time to sit down with me and listen to what I might need regardless of how busy she is and I always get immediate results. The bottom line is if your looking for a facility for a loved one if you don't place them in Abbington Rehab And Nursing Home your missing out on a very professional nursing home.

Sometimes they have no idea what they'll be having for supper. (Food staff gone.) Friend's clothes get sent off to be washed and never returned. Sick of buying new ones for this person. Don't buy sports' team shirts as they will "disappear". No mail given to residents on Saturday because the "office is closed" so have to wait until Monday to receive mail. Have to stay in bed all day because one person had to stay in bed. Not given a chance to get up and socialize. These were all things told to me by a resident.

Worst facility! Understaffed, unprofessional and incompetent staff. Majority of the staff seemed distant and lacked any compassion or concerned about the patient including their physician who saw our dad once in almost 3 weeks of stay. Never send someone for rehab unless you want your loved one to deteriorate.

My brother has been a resident at Abbington for 6 years. I know if it was not for Janet Cantelo and the other staff that my brother would probably not be with us today. He's been through a lot. Janet and her staff are the most caring, professional people that I've been involved with. From keeping me informed of his health and status, to calling me (out of state) to keep me informed and work with us to get the best available care for him. They were never too busy to take my calls or work with me to get him to where he needed to be. I live in Arizona so I can't be there every day. I would recommend Abbington in Roselle to anyone who has a family member going through issues that they need help with. Because of their care and the way they care for the residents, my brother has made amazing progress over the years. I owe Janet and her team more than I can express. Also he has had issues with things in his room and they are fixed or replaced as soon as possible. If necessary, he was moved to a different room until the original room could be corrected. They are the best.

I love living here. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They work hard and are always there to help when needed. The rooms are comfortable and we are offered many activities to do at least twice per day. We are given freedom to do what we want to do and are able to go out in the community which offers a variety of shopping availability. Janet, the administrator cares very deeply about each resident and she is always available to answer questions and solve problems whenever needed. She always has time for the residents and never disregards what you are talking about. She is a very good listener and always stays engaged in the conversation. She is a top notch administrator in my opinion, and always makes sure we have a good staff to take care of us. The facility is clean and the food is good and it is a very nice place to live.

While I was a resident the staff, for the most part was very professional considering that they didn't seem to have much support from the owners. The dining room is the only area besides the individual rooms where the residents can gather. The furniture in there is very old and uncomfortable. They didn't listen to my complaints about my back pain, I actually had a fracture in my back.

When my grandmother got older we all decided to move her into Abbington rehabilitation & nursing center. When we first went to see the units we were very surprised to see how large they were. The second thing we noticed was how nice the main floor and activity center was. I feel like grandma will be well cared for and at home here. When we come to visit there is always something to do and the kids don't feel left out. The level of care they provide is exceptional and we really feel like they are doing the best job of taking care of our grandma. The house keeping staff is professional and friendly and my grandma's unit is always clean and fresh when we come to visit. Since grandma has stopped driving the group outings and scheduled transportation still allows her to be active. The food is not as good as I would like, but isn't the worst I have had. Every staff member we have met there has been professional and is always smiling. I would recommend Abbington to anyone who asked "where can we find quality care for our aging relatives".

This is a smaller facility in downtown Roselle. At first glance it does not appear overly impressive but it holds considerable charm that is often found in smaller places. It is situated on the edge of the primary business district in downtown Roselle, making it convenient for residents to walk to a wide variety of shops. It is also convenient to the expressway and the Metra train. There is designated outdoor space that is well maintained and nicely set up to facilitate visits and relaxation by residents. The interior of the building is not impressive aesthetically as it is an older building, but it is clean and well maintained. The rooms are on the small to average size in most of the building though one area does have notable above-average sized rooms. Some areas have jack-and-jill style baths but not all. The food is average to above average depending on the selection of the day. Staff has above average tenure for the most part, and the care is compassionate, respectful and kind. There is no separate dementia program here and the facility is not "secure" from a dementia perspective so it is questionable in meeting needs of demented and mobile residents. The facility does employ wander guards and is appropriately safe and secured for the geriatric population they serve.
