Sharice and Dawn are so welcoming at the front desk. My mother in laws housekeeper is amazing. As well the laundry staff. Summit has a great location near shopping, restaurants and activities. Great and helpful staff who were a tremendous support as we made our decision by offering resources to check out. Contacted us periodically to check in but were not pushy sales people. I would choose Summit for my parents in a heartbeat.

Staff are friendly, kind, and always willing to assist. They are go above and beyond for two of my family members that are residents of independent living. The rooms are large and comfortable. They have many activities to keep them active. Their food is great and service is exceptional. They offer bingo, cards, holiday gatherings, special events, and more. We have been very impressed thus far. Thankful to have found their new home!

I can't say enough great things about the Summit of Uptown! Jayne was an absolute pleasure to work with from our first meeting, learning about independent living, all the way through the move in date. The entire staff is very courteous and helpful. The accommodations are great! When we decided to change to a slightly larger apartment after the initial move in, Jayne and team worked with us on changing units and made the process seamless. Finally, the culture amongst all the residents has been a perfect fit. There are many organized activities throughout the week where the residents get to engage with one another and build a real sense of community.

My mom has been living at the Summit for approx 10 years. Over the years she has formed some wonderful relationships with other residents, but, also with staff and management. The current folks have been amazing. Extremely responsive and helpful. From management to dining room staff to facilities personnel to health care professionals...all have been the best. I am especially appreciative of the Summit's response to the Covid crisis. From the early days, when no one knew what to do, to the current model they have in place, I have always felt that they were striving to quickly do what was right to keep everyone safe.

My parents both live here in a one bedroom deluxe and have different needs as they grow older. The rooms in Independent living are spacious and have an at- home feel with full kitchen and washer and dryer. The facility has an in house driver that is a life saver. He takes or picks them up from anywhere within five miles which makes them feel very independent. The dining room has the highlighted dishes for viewing so they can literally see what they would like as you know reading can be a challenge as one gets older. I just can’t say enough about the staff (management, front desk, kitchen and event planners) as they really love what they do and they really care about each of the residents. They have improved the facility by attaining input from the residents. They don’t just listen, they act. It is a smaller community, they know everyone by name and they look out for each of them. It is truly a family feel. Care in the Home is a supplemental healthcare providers in house that can give showers and meds for a fee to your loved ones. They too are very personable, thoughtful and caring. Plus the location is amazing! They can sit on the veranda and watch concerts across the street (pre-covid), walk across the street to the library or trader Joes. You have everything you need in walking distance or Ike will drive you there safely. As you can see, i highly recommend The Summit, as I looked around at many places before we chose, and for the price, the Summit offered the most and were willing to let my parents test it for a month as moving from a house to a retirement community is a huge decision, so the trial period was extremely helpful for them to realize this was not a nursing home, that it could be their new home. This new home has resources to help them enjoy life as most of their needs are all under one roof now. This move has been a blessing for them and for our family as we are all a team making their life full and meaningful. It is worth a tour - see for yourself.

My mother has been a resident in Independent Living for over 4 years. The most recent renovations are really beautiful, inside and out. Some of the apartments have better layouts and are more spacious than offerings at other nearby properties, so it’s worth asking for what you want. The Summit’s location can’t be beat - it’s within walking distance of everything. Nice community of friendly residents and helpful staff. Caregiver services are available, and have really been a lifesaver for her when she’s needed it.

This was the best place recommended to me and my family in this area. The staff is superb. The proximity to everything is phenomenal. The rooms are a decent size.

My Mom was a resident here mostly in Assisted Living. She loved the food and thought it was great. It seemed as if they were frequently short staffed on the Assisted Living side and there was a fair amount of staff turnover, though there were quite a few of the staff that were awesome like some of the nurses, the main front desk staff and I loved the driver for the facility! We did have an issue with my Mom not having her support stockings on for 2 weeks even though the order was in her medical records and I talked to AL management about it. There were a lot of great activities even though my Mom didn't take advantage of them. I ended up moving my Mom to a smaller facility where I could shift her to Memory Care or Skilled Nursing whenever the need arises.

The staff at The Summit of Uptown are terrific. They are extremely helpful and have spent a lot of time with our family to ensure all of my mother's needs have been met. The people at the Summit have exceeded my expectations and I look forward to going there to visit my mother. My mother started living there in Independent Living and has recently moved to Memory Care. The living accommodations are very comfortable. My mother is very happy there. It puts our minds at ease knowing that she is in good hands and getting the care that she needs.

Terrible, terrible phone system. Sometimes the automated switchboard rings and rings and doesn’t connect so we have to call the front desk. At other times the front desk doesn’t answer the phone. Residents complain about uninspired and tasteless food choices. Housekeeping could be significantly better at times. I wouldn’t want to be lodged here when I’m older.

Summit of Uptown is very nice and the staff is very accommodating. My sister's apartment is small but comfortable. She said the food was good, and they have all kinds of activities. They have a little library, a place where residents and families can sit, and activity rooms. She's been there for a short time, but it seems fine.

I physically visited Summit of Uptown. They were extremely nice. They have a memory program. That community was very nice. The staff was wonderful. She sat down with me, she took time with me, and she explained everything. They were wonderful there. It was really a nice place. It's beautiful, very clean, and spotless. The staff seemed real caring, real nice, and attentive to the residents. They had a nice patio kind of area. Even though they're on a busy street, they had a nice little patio area in the middle of the complex, and it had a garden, too, so it was just really set up so beautifully. The rooms were really great. It was pretty standard. It was really clean and a nice setup. Their walk-in shower was nice because you don't even have to step over; it just goes right into the shower so somebody could just walk in. They have a wonderful program. The staff was lovely. Their menu seemed good.

Summit of Uptown was very pleasant and I liked the location. It's really nice and has well-appointed furniture. It's right down in the heart of town and less than half a block from the train station and a huge library. It's really well-lit right outside, so if you're outside, you don't have to fear walking around in the dark. It's just more expensive than the other places. The person who showed me around was quite helpful. She showed me the results of some art that they were going to be distributing around the village. They're quite active.

I was a caregiver assigned to this facility. Changes in ownership were made recently so there are changes. My client had stayed there for more than 5 years before passing away. Changes are slow like the pool that they converted to a outdoor garden that is over the parking area that rumbles everytime someone starts their car..that has began march and is still under construction..I dont find anyone working on it for days to be honest and if there is theres that one guy but I dont know if hes making any progress. They have let so many staff go in many departments and putting more responsibilities on those that remain. They are the most dedicated staff but Ive seen them being burn out that if a caregiver is assigned they have a "contract" that even if u paid for some care for your loved one...it would mainly fall to the caregiver. I cant blame them because they are stretched out in caring for other clients. they are always short on care but these amazing staff manages..but now management wants to cut more on staffing. the food is excellent and you have two choices for lunch and dinner. there are activities but it is redundant. i as a caregiver did not like how I was treated by one activity person. i think she was more bias to the more independent resident. i did not mind how she treated me but one incident left me fuming and even a granddaughter of another resident was put off. my client is of able mind when not tired and i wanted client to enjoy the outdoor part of the activity but i knew it was a bit crowded since some family and staff came out to enjoy the activity, i saw an empty spot and ask the family member if it was okay to squeeze my client in a bit and she said yes...but this personnel saw me going outside w my client on a wheelchair and she said we couldnt go out because they had no room but they were moving us out of the way because residents that walked and family and staff were going outside..so no room huh? so if you're parent is wheelchair bound most of the time expect a different treatment is the message that came across. i was so hurt for me and my resident cause the family bought something that my client could enjoy the outdoor aspect of that activity. the rest of the staff is wonderful hence 3 stars.

Summit of Uptown is a privately-owned community. It is very high-end and it's the most expensive of the ones I've visited. The facilities are probably in the highest end that I have seen, meaning basically, it is like being in a fine hotel. It is very nice. The staff was very generous with their time in giving me a tour. The cafeteria looked very good, and food looked very nice. The apartments were very nice and high-end. What was nice was, if you went into independent living, but you needed assisted living, you wouldn't have to change apartments, you're just designated as assisted living, which is nice. All in all, it's a very high-end community, very nice, and the quality looks good. However, I am concerned about the affordability, the ownership, and its direction, like what happens in five or ten years.

Summit of Uptown was OK in general, but there were complaints about the help. My sister-in-law had 24-hour help from three different people, and they run short of help. The food varied, but it seemed the longer we were there, the food didn't seem to be that good. They kept the place very clean. The residents seemed to be well dressed and very nice. The room was pretty good and not that big but nice and had a little refrigerator. They did the best they could to help. They had a place where you could watch television or read, plus bingo and movie nights. They have a very bad underground parking garage.

The location of The Summit is great, it’s right in downtown Park Ridge which is very convenient. It’s a converted hotel, so the rooms are very small, and they have long corridors. They remodelled everything so it looks very good. They have a driver that can take you to places.

I think the Summit of Uptown is a perfect fit for my mom because she has to go to assisted living. We feel that it is a perfect fit because she can eat with the independent people. I know a lot of places in assisted living don’t dress so well, and they don't seem friendly. Here they dress up real nice, and my mom will be able to socialize with a lot of the people in the assisted living. She is waiting for a one-bedroom which has a nice size bedroom, living room, and bathroom. It looks like a very clean and well-kept place. I have tried eating there, and the food was very good. The dining setup was beautiful, and it was not depressing at all. So many places I just felt that it would be depressing for my mom, but this was not at all. They have the normal things like bingo, ceramics, and exercise programs.

My father is in The Summit. I visited him last week, and he likes it a lot. It is close to a library, a shopping center, and a movie theater, and it's right in downtown. It is three or four minutes from my stepbrother and stepsister's house. Lovely people work there, and he is happy there. His transition was pretty much flawless. I noticed some activities going on when I visited him, but I don't know what the activities are. He enjoys the social aspect. He enjoys sitting on porch and talking, seeing people in the elevator, and going down to the common area. Even in the common area on his floor, he likes to hang out there and talk to people.

The whole atmosphere for The Summit of Uptown was clean and nice. The people when I visited there was friendly. The place is fairly large with many activities going on like shopping, excursions, movies, and they have card nights. The rooms were of average size and pretty comfortable for one person. It's clean, freshly painted, and carpeted. We ate there and the food was pleasant. Overall, it was a nice facility.

We went to visit Summit of Uptown when we looked for a place for my parents. The amenities were not as nice or complete as the other place we had been to. There were a lot of things in the plans but not on site as far as activities or common areas were concerned. We were told during the tour that they had plans to do this and that but we did not see anything at the time. The facility was clean, well-kept, although a little outdated and motel-like. The staff were pleasant and helpful to work with, we had no complaints with them. The food was decent.

Formerly known as "Summit Square", this uptown Park Ridge facility provides assisted living and independent living. The location is great for walking to shops, to the library, and to the Trader Joe's next door. It is also almost next to the Metra line. Being in the fairly urban setting, outdoor space is somewhat limited; however, there is an in-ground pool with a patio that is open for residents, weather permitting. There are many spacious, pleasant, and nicely decorated common areas on the main level and lower level of the facility. There are also smaller sitting areas interspersed on the residential floors. It is always very clean, neat and well maintained by a fastidious housekeeping staff. Some of the building has been entirely renovated and those apartments are notably upscale in finishes and fixtures. The older part of the building is nice, just not as polished. Apartments are available in a number of configurations at different price points. Natural light varies depending on location within the building. The food is above average to excellent and served cafeteria style in a large pleasant dining room. Lots of creative and appropriate outings and activities are on the Summit calendar including trips to local restaurants. Care provided by the assisted living staff is kind, compassionate, and caring. Staffing levels are usually good though sometimes residents will have wait times for assistance. The rate of staff turnover seems somewhat less than average for this type of setting, perhaps because the Summit is family owned and operated. The private pay costs are reasonable and well within industry standards.
