The Nuns are pure treasures. There are plenty of activities to choose from, and daily mass and rosary if you are so inclined. Alvernia is kept spotless and the employees are hard workers and treat the residents with respect. The food is of high quality, varied and served appealing. Crafts were one of my Mom's enjoyments, but being a farm girl she loved gardening in the summer with the raised beds. No words can express on our family was treated with kindness and love on the death of Mom. She was living at an assisted living facility at that time, but the Nuns allowed my Mother to have her service at Alvernia. If you are looking for a place to have your loved one cared for, have 3 meals a day and an atmosphere of true sincerity, Alvernia is the place choose.

Alvernia Manor was truly a blessing for my family. My grandmother, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's during her final years, was becoming difficult to care for. It was a difficult decision, but I was so glad when Alvernia Manor was recommended to us. The sisters who run the facility, especially Sister Cindy, were absolutely wonderful. They truly created a caring environment. Additionally, all the nurses and CNA's that I encountered were very loving and went out of their way to make my grandmother feel at home. She seemed happy most times that I visited her, and had good things to say about the caregivers. One drawback is that residents must be able to ambulate to stay here. This is because usually there is only one nurse and one CNA on duty at a time. I knew of a few residents who had to move to a more skilled care facility when they became unable to walk. Nevertheless, I couldn't be happier with this facility and how they cared for not only my grandmother but my entire family during this difficult time. The staff truly incorporates an atmosphere of Christian love in all they do.
