Wow, almost 32 months to the day since moving to Luther Village from Rolling Meadows and it seems like only yesterday. The days of the community's independent living life style here at Luther Village are filled with activities from exercise in the morning, cards of several forms in the afternoon, dinner in the Lake View Club and evening entertainment of various types orchestrated by the Activities Team. If you are looking for a Club to join, just ask our Activities Team and if Luther Village doesn’t have one now, they will see if they can help you organize one. A real bonus is the Summer House, located adjacent to one of the three large ponds on campus and available through a reservation. We had an 80’s birthday party there and it accommodated our 70 guests without a problem. Also, the three ponds are full of various types of fish and available to guests of residents on a catch and release basis. The in house maintenance staff here at Luther Village is experienced and available Monday through Friday and on an emergency basis during the weekends. Need more to do, the City of Arlington Heights has many community organizations, an active Library, above average Park District, commuter trains to down town Chicago and 20 minutes ride of your choice to O'Hare Airport.

Luther Village was a good facility. They are one that we would consider. We didn't visit their full range of services, but what we saw was pretty comprehensive. The staff was informed. The people that we knew there seemed to be very, very appreciative of the level of maintenance, the level of service, the convenience of the facilities, and the staff. We thought it was much better maintained than other places that we saw over the years. We also liked that in addition to apartment housing or condominiums, they offer villas and single family home settings. They were more like townhomes or something of that nature. They were very attractive to us. It felt more like living in a home, rather than living in a condo. There was also an opportunity to have equity in some of the homes, so that was an attractive feature. One thing we didn't necessarily like (even though the monthly rates that people pay were not as high as I was expecting) was it seems like you're paying for potential future use of assisted living facilities or access to them, even while you're in independent living. It's kind of like an insurance policy, so to speak. It's something that we didn't particularly appreciate because somebody may never need those higher levels of assisted living services. You can buy a property there and own it outright, but you still have monthly premiums. There is a built-in dining fee (a very small amount), which essentially encourages people to have some meals in the dining facility. I liked the fact that they have certain facilities, like an onsite barbershop/salon and an onsite bank. You can take care of your financial transactions without leaving the grounds. Our friend lived in a condominium type of arrangement in a building, and it was very, very well-maintained. I also had a chance to view one of the villas. It was more or less a stand alone home. I was very impressed with the exterior, as well as the interior. The facilities were very well-maintained. The property was well-maintained. The staff was very friendly and very informed. The condominium building was exceptionally well-maintained and very pleasant.

Thought this would be a good place and that I would get help with things. Paying for cable as part of plan and not able to access. No one is helping with this.

We visited the Luther Village. My father-in-law would definitely consider that one. I only met the person that did the tour. There was a group of women sitting in a circle doing crocheting or knitting, but that's really the only thing we saw. Everybody was wearing masks and being the safest possible. We looked at one-bedrooms, and they were very nice.

I love Luther Village. My mother lived there. It's close to shopping, airport, public transportation, and our family. I like the rooms and nice people very much. I'm getting a small one-bedroom. There's a heated walkway to the main place where the dining room is. There's a pool table and recreation. Every room has a balcony with a nice view. It only goes up four stories instead of a high rise. I'm buying instead of renting, so I don't have to have get two or three meals a day, which I do not want because I can do it myself, but I want the amenities when I need them. I liked the grounds. There's 55 acres and places to walk around and good views from every room.

Luther Village had all levels of care. It was an excellently run, lovely place. The building was excellent, nicely appointed, well kept up, spacious, and had good parking. The rooms were small, but they were nicely appointed. They were very cognizant of the variety of people they had and tried to deal with them very well. They have exercise rooms, swimming pool, independent living, nursing facilities, and separate laundry rooms.

I think Luther Village right now is my first choice. It has a little more room, and I had a choice of a two-bedroom, which is very good. You can go in an apartment or in a two-bedroom. It's almost like a house. They have a chapel, exercise room, swimming facilities, craft room, and activity rooms. The food is very good, and the surroundings are beautiful. The staff is very accommodating.

Luther Village has a couple of differently sized almost like apartments -- single bedroom or two bedrooms -- that we ended up finding for my father. I like their food very much. They have a number of groups that meet, and they have trips as well. They take them to the store and so on, so it has worked out very well and, so far, it has been wonderful.

I had known Luther Village for many years because they were part of the Lutheran Church. I liked their campus. They had a nice sales person. Their rooms were very nice. They had five to ten meals on the monthly fee and then you had to buy the rest. It would be good if they would give a better tour on the place because their tour was not so good. I would recommend them to others.

The rooms at Luther Village were very small and they require a big amount of money invested. The financial arrangements were pretty expensive. As far as living there, I've heard good things about it, but again the rooms were just small it did discourages us from finding more about it the facility, but the people seemed nice.

We had visited Luther Village #149. However, when we got there, the place was always flooded. They had lots of things. They were close to a hospital and they had a wellness center there.

Luther Village was a very big place. It was very nice but it was more expensive to be there than the other facilities we visited. The staff were great and the food was good. Everything about it was good. The only thing we didn't like was that instead of a monthly rental, you had to purchase the unit.

My grandmother moved in to Luther Village in Arlington Heights, Illinois, seven years ago. We visit often, and on the most recent trip, she told me she believes that it was the best move she's ever made. She's happy to still be living independently without the maintenance that was involved in her older home. Grandma has made friends on her floor, including a group she plays poker with once a week. Busses take the seniors to do their shopping, to area churches, and anywhere else they need to go locally. Additionally, there are planned outings every week to nearby cultural events, restaurants, and other fun activities. Grandma's condo still gives her the ability to be as independent as she wants, while having assistance nearby if needed. Luther Village has a restaurant on site, with a bar, where residents can pre-pay a monthly amount they need to meet for meals. This allows them to decide how many meals they'd like to cook in their own kitchen. The restaurant also allows residents and families to book catered events, so we hosted Grandma's 80th birthday party there a couple years ago. It was so convenient to be able to host all of our family and her friends, who didn't have to travel far to celebrate with her! Another nice thing Luther Village offers for families is a hospitality suite, where families can stay in a two-bedroom condo of their own if extra space is needed. The waiting list for this is quite long, so we've yet to take advantage, but it does seem like a nice perk for the seniors who have a large group coming to see them.
