Kudos to the Marshes staff for the way they cared for us during Hurricane Helene! For five days they fed us three meals each day with no electricity. They also provided us with flashlights and lanterns and kept us well informed. I feel so fortunate to be here!

My husband and I have lived at the Marshes for 10 happy years. My husband, who is handicapped has received the most helpful and caring help from the excellent nursing and rehab programs located right here on the Marches' campus. We are truly grateful.

There is so much to love about living at The Marshes. The place is lovely, the food is great, the activities are numerous and varied. But the best part is the people. The residents are welcoming, active and fun and the staff is friendly, caring and professional. It is, simply put, a wonderful place to live.

What could have been a nightmare during hurricane Helene was in fact, five days when were greeted by the smiling faces of the entire staff, who were tireless as they fed us three meals a day, kept us comfortable and happy while our homes were without power. This is truly an extraordinary community!!

In 2020 I moved to the Marshes from a house I had lived in for 53 years that constantly needed work. One of the greatest advantages of being at the Marshes is that whatever goes wrong in my new apartment is promptly attended to by the staff. All that is required is a call to the concierge who paces a work order.

The Marshes is a very special care. My mother has been there for almost 8 years and has loved it. She is now in assisted living and is getting terrific care. I couldn't ask for more.

Reflecting on our first year at The Marshes, my husband and I express our 100% delight. We feel safe, secure, stress-free and loved by fellow residents and staff. Our decision to make The Marshes our forever home was definitely the correct decision, and you will feel the same.

The Marshes, located on beautiful Skidaway Island, is like coming home to a 5-Star Hotel. They offer cottages/houses and villas. I live in a villa with a spectacular view; it is very well maintained with weekly housekeeping and I don't have to coordinate a single repair, just a quick phone call to maintenance does the trick. The numerous entertainment offerings both on-campus and in downtown Savannah are both exceptional and diverse. The food, varied and delicious, is offered in a beautiful dining room or in a more casual bistro setting. Of course one can also opt for carry out. We also have a great bar with a fantastic bartender at the ready. If you are looking for a next step to a continuing care community, this is a "must see!"

I moved to the Marshes two years ago and each day I am more thankful that I did. The staff in all departments are professional and efficient. The food is delicious, activities are numerous, and maintenance is only a phone call or a computer click away. The many friends I have made here are perhaps the most valuable asset.

As new members of the Marshes community (moved in mid-March 2024), we have been wowed by the professionalism, friendliness, and responsiveness of the staff and the open arms welcome of our new neighbors. We now live in one of the cottages on the Marshes’ campus-a spacious, high ceilinged, 2 bedroom plus bonus room house that looks out on an unobstructed spectator view of the marsh. Help with normal occasional house related maintenance issues is only a phone call or web based click away. The two dining venues are very attractive and welcoming. The food quality, diversity and service is set at a very high, consistent and satisfying level-it’s rather like belonging to a private club founded on exceptional expectations and delivery. In short, the reality of belonging to this community called “The Marshes” is actually transformative.

I have nothing but WONDERFUL things to say about the Marshes. From the security guard at the gate, to the lovely staff inside, everyone is so pleasant and always so happy to help. The residents are always busy with hobbies, exercising or outings. The Marshes is truly one of a kind!

Moving y to the Marshes is like checking into a Five Star hotel with an excellent Concierge. In fact, it is better because you have all of your own favorite furniture clothing and things with you. Moreover, the other residents are your friends, not strangers passing through town.

My mother is one of the original residents, she has lived at The Marshes for 20 years and she/I couldn't be happier. The Staff is simply awesome and now I don't worry about her living alone. I live outside of Claxton and to be that close to her is a blessing.

My mother recently moved into the cottages at the Marshes, and I can’t overstate how happy I am that she is able to live independently and vibrantly, while still having quick access to services as convenience and need require. A longtime Savannah resident, she lives nearby decades-long friends so she has a social support network, and has integrated herself into the activities offered on the property. The non-profit nature of the Marshes gives me comfort that her residence and care will be dictated by her best interests, not those of shareholders.

The Marshes Of Skidaway Island is a wonderful retirement community, and I cannot say enough good things about it. My mother spent the last 8 years of her life there, and they were filled with the joy of meeting new friends and spending time with old friends. Although Mom was initially hesitant about moving from her home of many years, she quickly adjusted to her new apartment and was delighted to take part in the many social activities, classes, and events that are offered. With every visit, I saw how engaged she was with the other residents and the staff - Mom simply thrived at the Marshes, which was a blessing to her and to me.

We already live on Skidaway Island, so The Marshes is where we plan to go for the next season of our life. Having been here 15 years, we know many people who already or plan to live at The Marshes. We are currently on the wait list and consider this our “insurance policy.” Right now we feel secure, knowing our future home is right next door. When the time comes to move, our lifestyle will not change. We will still enjoy our golf, tennis and all the amenities of The Landings Club. We will still take our dog on golf cart rides, buzz over to see friends or go to the marina to watch the sunset. The best part of looking forward to our next move is the stress-free living The Marshes offers. No more worries about household maintenance, planning daily meals or having medical help when needed. We are realistic about our future. We assisted two mothers through their final stages of life. If we can be as independent as possible, we want our children to enjoy their lives without constantly worrying about us. The Marshes can aid us in that goal and we will be ready when it is our turn to move there.

We enjoyed our visit. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. The campus is beautiful and well kept. The costs are in line with other facilities we have visited. And although for us, this was our first look at Marshes, we have had personal experience with CCRC facilities through other family members and were impressed with this facility. It appears to provide a variety of engaging activities for those in independent living, as well as appropriate short and long term medical care for the future.

We are within days of moving into our cottage so our comments relate to the initial visit to the community and the process of moving through the wait list to now, just a couple days from finalizing all the arrangements and moving into the community full time. On our first visit to The Marshes we were absolutely sure we wanted to be part of the community. Having visited other competing life care communities in South Carolina helped us to realize instantly that the facilities and the staff were first class. Since that visit, the staff has gone out of their way to make us feel as through we were destined to be here. Invites to "future member" events and the strong level of communication about goings-on encouraged us to be patient and considerate of the process. Once we were told we were at the top of the list and a cottage was available, staff including marketing, facilities management and tech management have gone above and beyond our expectations to assure a timely closing and move-in. Thanks to all of them for their time and patience as we navigated these last 90-days. Kudos to all. Our cottage has been refreshed and will no doubt be exactly what we want and need. Thank you all.

The Marsshes takes care of residentss not only after moving into the facility. That outstanding care begins even before occupancy, with references to moving sspecialists, expert renovation assistance to transform your residence into your dream home, and periodic gatheringss of those on the waiting list to introduce you to the people who will be your neighbors. This excellent care continues through the relocation process and for years to come as you enjoy your new home and community.

Living at The Marshes is a dream come true. We knew we wanted to be independent, but give up the headache of maintaining a house. Our villa has everything we need. The appliances are new, attractive, and efficient. The bathrooms are furnished with the most up to date fixtures. We were able to select floors and paint colors to match our taste and furniture. The Renovations Specialist was very easy to work with and had great ideas. We have found great new friends and plenty of activities. Bridge, bocce, canasta, mah jong, bingo, exercise classes, water aerobics, and walking groups are some of the many things to do. We are pleased in every way.

I have been a resident of the Marshes for 8 months and am very happy to have made this choice. The Marshes is in a beautiful setting, extremely well maintained and the staff is wonderful. The community is easy to fit into and activities for residents are appropriate and plentiful. Meals are exceptional. We have excellent facilities which are updated on a regular basis. Of most importance is the extremely positive view of our residents. If you ever need assisted living or memory care, the on-site facility is one of the finest I have seen.

My parents have lived at the Marshes for eight years. They lived in a beautiful apartment in Independent Living for the first six years. They loved it. They made great friends, there were activities all the time, and they felt like they were living on a cruise ship. They Love the food in the dining room and the servers all knew them by name. Every year they had a formal Gala event which was very extravagant. For the past 18 months they have split time between assisted-living and skilled care nursing. They are well cared for and all their needs are met. We have routine care conferences and I get routine phone calls about medication changes. I live local so I am in the Marshes a few times each week. I could not be happier with the care they are receiving.

Lifestyle at The Marshes provides easy living, pleasant surroundings, good food and a variety of interesting activities, but the BEST part is the independence we have. With services such as meal delivery, transportation, maintenance a phone call away and getting the level of health care I chose all means no obligations on the part of friends or family to be caregivers.

My husband and I are on a waiting list at The Marshes of Skidaway Island. We are very anxious to get in there, and we're very happy about it. We've seen it, and it's quite exclusive. We will be in an independent living apartment that's about 2,100 square feet; it has just about everything we need. Included in that are all of our utilities and 21 meals per month. We decide which ones we want to choose: breakfast, lunch, or supper. There is a beautiful dining room with a wonderful chef. They have a library. They have activities planned all the time. Once you feel you need assistance or if you need rehab care they also have that. They also have an Alzheimer's unit in a separate building. They just have everything you need, and everything you want to do. You can continue to belong to the Island Club, which has 6 golf courses and 6 restaurants. We had lived there, so we kept our membership and still have it. It's absolutely fabulous. They have a pool on the site. The physician says that the residents gain weight in their first few months because the food is so fabulous.

The Marshes was spectacular. But given my mother's age, I just wasn't willing to purchase a condominium; I'd rather pay her rent. This would have been more convenient for me because I live close to the Marshes, but it doesn't seem feasible to purchase a condo that I don’t know how long she'll enjoy. It was just feasible for us to go with a monthly rental. They are really new and absolutely top-shelf.

The Marshes of Skidaway Island have duplex houses and apartments. They have a menu each meal so the residents could select the food they want to eat. Their staff is very warm and friendly.
