I really enjoy what The Retreat at Loganville has to offer. It allows for each patient to live in their own space. They have their own cottage or villa and still get rides for lunch every day. They still have the community feel of activities and things like that. Out of all the places that I looked at, The Retreat at Loganville was the only one that allowed that kind of setting where you were living in your own house outside of the main building. But they still checked on you and they still provided food and all those kinds of things. The dining area looked great. They use their dining area also for their activities and games, which worked out well, because then the residents could come to lunch, and then right after that they could play activities and such. It was a nice walking distance from some of the residential homes, and it had enough space in there for everyone to eat and such. We got to see some residents playing cards. They also took us to the one-bedroom villas and to the two-bedroom cottages and got to see the grounds.

I visited this facility

What I liked best about The Retreat at Loganville is that at the time I went in, there were a lot of residents who were out in the hall going to and from activities, and it seemed that there were a lot of activities that people were involved in. The people that I spoke to were very happy and seemed very enthused about the activities they were going to. I guess it was Valentine's Day or close to it and they were doing activities and had their rooms decorated. They had elevators, which is fine. There was nothing else wrong with the facility, but for my parents, I felt like that would be confusing. They'd be more than they could handle. I feel they would not remember how to operate an elevator. It was very large. It might be too much for some people. Everybody was very friendly and very willing to stop and chat. There were lots of activities going on, so there were lots of staff out. It was very clean. I didn't see anything out of order. As far as the structure, it was like a large apartment building. It was three floors. The size of it and an elevator may not be appropriate for everybody. Some people may need a smaller environment. The atmosphere was very positive.

Provider Response

Rhonda, we really appreciate your feedback. Thank you for taking the time to leave us this information about your recent visit. Take care!

I toured The Retreat at Loganville. The community was excellent. Everything was nice, the place, and everybody was pretty happy with it. It was pretty cool. The room was nice. The staff was excellent. They have card games and they have the traveling tools to go and take them shopping. I noticed a little park with a gazebo and trees, it's a good place for everybody to gather.

Provider Response

We appreciate your positive review of your recent tour with us. Thank you, and have a fantastic day!

The Retreat at Loganville was very appealing and very clean. The facilities were very nice. The staff was very accommodating. They genuinely wanted to know what I wanted and all that. They were very nice. The main lobby section is where you go in. Then they took me to the community room where people were sitting and playing cards and all the ladies stopped and greeted me and said hello and how much they liked it there. It was very friendly. The 700-square-foot two-bedroom unit was very small, and that's the only one I could afford, which was their cheapest one. They're very nicely done, clean, and wonderful. If you want to be involved with the girls playing cards, it's on the other side of the campus. You'd have to go quite a ways to get to that. Those are the only negatives I have. It has security and parking.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I moved into The Retreat at Loganville. When I came here, everybody was friendly and the staff was very helpful and they're still helpful. They come in and they say, "Is there anything you need?" My food has to be pureed. When I get to the dining hall, it's ready for me. It's just wonderful. I have a large living area, which I like because I was able to bring all my living room furniture and put it in the living area. My bedroom is a little smaller than what I had hoped, but it's not bad at all. The food is very good. My food has to be pureed for me to digest it and even with it being pureed, it's still tasty. Today, they're doing manicures. They have bingo in the afternoon and a Bible study. They have different activities every day. There's a list in one of the main rooms that you can pick up. The staff is very friendly and very helpful.

We really like The Retreat at Loganville. The facility was very clean and fresh-looking. The people who gave us the tour were very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. They gave us a complete tour of the whole facility that my mother-in-law would be involved with. The menu looked good. They had people from outside the facility who were leading some music. In another area they had their members doing music, putting puzzles together, and doing all sorts of stuff. We only looked at the smallest room, which was what we had requested. It was small, but it was fine. But all of their common areas were good sizes.

I liked everything about The Retreat at Loganville. We did not have a meal there, but it was offered. We just did a quick tour. I was kind of familiar with that company because my mother had been in one that was very similar. So I didn't go to all of the common areas. I just went to the conference room and the visiting area and we saw a few rooms. They showed us one that was like your little basic studio-looking apartment. Everyone was very nice and very helpful. It was a pretty facility. The building was just a little older. It wasn't that there was anything wrong with it. It just wasn't quite as updated as some other facilities that same.

The Retreat at Loganville was extraordinarily clean and it seemed to be well run. It seemed like a very, very friendly place. They would prepare the meals, take care of the laundry, they would make sure the residents would take the right pills at the right times, and would assist with showers. The staff was very professional, very knowledgeable, and was able to give me pricing and some thoughts on future care, as well. They did a really good job assisting me and walking me through the facility.

When I walked into The Retreat at Loganville, the staff was not that friendly. Nobody said hello. I had to approach them first. Their uniforms were unkempt and they were just standing there talking about their business. When I sat down with the director, we talked about my mom's dog. In the other place, they love having animals and they welcomed them. At The Retreat at Loganville, they said, "We can try to accommodate that." I don't want my mom to be somewhere where they can only accommodate that, I wanted her to be somewhere where they wanted her for everything she comes with. So, I was not impressed. The facility looked more hospital-ish and I knew that wasn't going to be the place for mom. The room was clean and nice though. I was probably only there for 15, 20 minutes. I just didn't get a vibe there at all and they do not have a consistent staff. They use outside temp service for some of their staff and I did not want that.

Provider Response

Tynsia, we're disappointed to hear of the negative experience you had at our location. We appreciate you bringing this experience to our attention. If you are willing, please contact us so we can work towards a resolution. We look forward to hearing from you.

I toured The Retreat at Loganville. It was nice that I got to see both the living quarters with the cottages and the little cabins. They were both nice. We had a tour in a golf cart. It was an awesome place. We saw a smaller one, I forgot what they call it, but it was a 1-bedroom with two bathrooms, a living room, and a laundry room. It was a small place. But the other one was a big 2-bedrooms, two bathrooms, with a living room, kitchen, and laundry room. It was a larger space, and I think it is more reasonable and better. But they were both very nice, very nice, well-made, and well-maintained. The rooms have a refrigerator, washer, dryer, microwave, everything. There's also access to a dining room where they have different functions and events throughout the week. They also offer transportation for events that they do throughout the week that seniors can be involved in. The staff was awesome. She had a wonderful, sweet personality. She was very accommodating and very knowledgeable. They invited me to come back and take part in meals.

I liked the Retreat at Loganville. I liked the location, it was off the main traffic, and I liked the way it was set up. It was like a villa type thing, it's all on one floor. I looked at the two-bedroom apartment. Everybody was very nice. What I liked least was they only do one meal a day. They had lots of things for people to do. They get together twice a month and go out to dinner. They had bingo and other games. There was always something going on, more than I could participate in. The staff who gave me the tour was really good.

I toured the Retreat at Loganville. Everything there was appropriate, but it's more expensive. Everything was nice. Because they're a large institution, they offer a lot of activities and so forth. They had just about everything there. It's an upscale assisted/Alzheimer's care. It's really nice, but it's a huge organization. You pay a fee as you go along. You have the standard rate for the boarding, but from there, it's all scaled. It was a little out of my budget at the moment, but it's a very beautiful place. It's spectacular. The staff were extremely professional. Everybody said hello and smiled. Everybody was polite in passing. Their interaction with me was very positive. When I got there, the tenants were playing bingo. It looks like a hotel to me.

The Retreat at Loganville offered personal care services and memory care services. I liked it and it's affordable. The staff was friendly, very nice, and knowledgeable. Everything about the facility was nice. They were just out of my price range. It was clean. They have the standard in what most personal care or assisted living have. There's nothing out of the norm. They have weekly housekeeping, personal laundry, assistance with bathing, dressing and grooming, medication assistance management, dining assistance, and daily bedmaking. The level of care is from one through four. They have studio apartments up to a one-bedroom.

I went to tour The Retreat at Loganville. The apartments were inside the building, so you could walk to the restaurant. It was really convenient and very nice. There were cottages available, but you would need a golf cart or a vehicle to go to the main building for meals and activities. They had bingo, puzzles, and movies. They had a library, a computer room, and a craft room.

My tour at The Retreat at Loganville was very nice. I thought it was the best fit for my parents. It had a homey feel, it wasn't stuffy or anything, and it would have been very comfortable for them. The staff who gave the tour was wonderful, she was great. The dining area looked nice, but we didn't try the food, that's the next step but we didn't make it to that point. They had extracurricular activities and they were playing Uno and getting ready for lunch when I was there. So there were a couple of the residents sitting down for lunch in the dining room. The rooms were very nice. I like the environment and the cozy and homey atmosphere. I saw two of the apartments, one was what they call The Alcove, and I saw the other one that has a separate bedroom and a little kitchenette.

I visited this facility

I toured The Retreat at Loganville. The staff was very friendly, and the establishment was very clean and orderly. Overall, that community was pretty nice. It was tightened together not in a bad way, and so I found that to be advantageous. It was good because the actual rooms that assisted living patients would be staying in were not far away from the general place where they would be eating and things like that. They had different rooms available. They had ones that were an open floor plan, but they were small like a suite. The smaller suites were just like one open floor plan. I wouldn't want to move my dad from a five-bedroom location to a one-bedroom, so the next level works out pretty well. It has a room where you sleep. Because it's in a room as opposed to an open floor plan, there's a certain amount of privacy. Even though you're living alone, it has a certain amount of privacy, which I think is important. I saw a lot of older residents at this location. Obviously they weren't in their rooms when I saw them. They were kind of out and about. It led me to believe that it is a welcoming area and that the individuals come out of their rooms. They come downstairs. They go to different activities and things like that. It left a good feeling for me because I was concerned about my dad just living in this little space and that being it. The dining area was a nice area. It was actually dignified. You could sit at longer table area, or you could sit where they have these shorter tables. You could sit in an area where there was TV and entertainment right there. Sometimes they had activities there as well. They had them actually during meals. They have a comedian come in and things like that, so that was pretty neat. It was neat and tidy, so I didn't have any complaints about it. They had an outdoor area where you could also go, and people could hang out or whatnot. They had a movie room area, where you could go and they show different movies on different days of the week. They had this little popcorn machine in the corner, too. They make popcorn there. They had a craft area where you could go and do stuff. When I was there, I walked by there. At the time they had ladies in there, and they had a craft instructor that was leading them through how to make these things with popsicle sticks and stuff. It was kind of neat.

I toured The Retreat at Loganville. I didn't see a room because they didn't have one to show at that time. I toured the facility, and it was great. The person that toured me was very informative and told me everything that I need to know about the facility, the services, the extra activities that they have, and the lunches and dinners. They said that they're going to have a one-bedroom coming available in the near future. They showed me the dining area, and they took me to the upper level where the game room was. They showed me a movie room, they showed me where the hair salon was, and they showed me the chapel. I had one person that toured me and she was great and very informative.

I saw The Retreat at Loganville. The only problem with it (which is also the least I like about it) is that it's further away. They had a gym and a salon. They had a community service building. They offered free lunch every day during the week for the independent living people. They had plenty of walking areas. They seemed to be in touch with the residents. The facilities seemed kept up and maintained.

The Retreat at Loganville was very nice and very accommodating, updated, and it wasn't old looking inside. It was very beautiful. The room was small. It's just a bedroom, and it had a shower that you just wheel the wheelchair right in. You wouldn't have to step over something. It's close to the dining room and close to the front door. I couldn't say anything negative about them. Linda helps out to run the place and she's helped us the whole time. She was very warm and understanding and wanted to get in touch with my brother and me and to sit down and talk about what was going on. The staff member that did her evaluation was real sweet. There's another lady that was like the director and she was really sweet, too. They were playing bingo when I was there and then they had people doing puzzles and some people were in the lobby watching TV. You could tell they had a lot of good things going on. We saw them eating dinner and they gave us a meal right before we left because it was dinnertime. The meal was excellent. I had potatoes with ham and peas and cornbread.

I like the convenience of The Retreat at Loganville. I like their apartment and their clubhouse and I just couldn't believe that. I haven't had a chance to look at the paperwork because Christmas just took me over, but I would like to know. The people were nice. Everything was just nice. The staff was very nice. I can't think of anything she could do any better. She was just nice and she had all the answers to the questions I asked her, which was good. It was very clean. There was a gentleman who was out there and he was watering the plants in the front of the building, and he looked like he might have been a resident, and I thought that is so homey. It just looked inviting. He was just watering the flowers. He didn't have a water hose; he just had a little container. It might have been a patient because he was elderly, and I thought, 'That was so nice.' It makes you feel like it was home, and they were working on the place to keep it nice. I didn't see the inside except for the front lobby, but everything was clean and very nice. You get one meal a day, you get housekeeping once a week, and they play bingo. I think the staff said they play bingo every day because I didn't go inside, so I don't know. The two-bedroom was just way too expensive for me. I couldn't afford that. That's almost $3000 a month. I can't see anybody paying that, but I guess they do.

I toured The Retreat at Loganville. Everything was excellent about the tour. The lady who helped me was excellent, too. She was very helpful, and she gave extra information to us. Her name was Michelle and I want to give her rave reviews because she was very helpful. She let us come a little earlier since the other people canceled, but she did take us around on a tour. She gave us what our options were, and she also gave us other information that we were able to look for, any veteran's assistance and different things. She was just a very excellent tour guide and an excellent representative of that community, and I really appreciated her help. She followed up afterwards with the email with additional information, so I was very appreciative of that. I toured the assisted living and the independent living. It was a very nice and updated. They renovated it. It was a really nice facility. The places were nice, like the clubhouse. Everything was nice. They have meal service and chef services. They take people out to go grocery shopping.

The Retreat at Loganville was the first place I went to see. It was very nice. I had the opportunity to see the whole place. The facility is where you have a park-like area outside to go out and sit. You have different wings. They have plenty of rooms. They're not very big rooms, it's just big enough for maybe a full-size bed and dresser, they have windows, which I like that better. I did have an opportunity to see the activity room there. I'd seen the room where they have church service, the area where they eat dinner, and all of which were separate areas. The rooms are nice, it's set up for you to bring your bed, your dresser, you got a shower and bathroom, so everybody had their own bathroom. You can fix the rooms up the way you want them to be fixed up. So it's like you make it your personal space, so you feel at home. They have a nice closet for them to hang their clothes. They have shelving above there so that you can have things fold up in that area. They do have a chapel and a salon. The staff offered me a sandwich, and it was good. She had someone to save a sandwich for me and gave me something to drink. They do have their cafeteria-type area that they go in and eat, and it's nice enough for everybody to sit in there, and then they have a second floor. So the library is actually on the second floor. They have a laundry area where you can go into the laundry room, say, if I went to visit my mom, if she did not know how to wash, I could go in and wash her clothes in the laundry area, wash them and dry and then bring them back to the room, or I could bring them home, or I could pay them, I think you had to pay them a little extra to do the washing.

I went to The Retreat at Loganville. That was an awesome place, but they only have one room available right now. It was a little small, a studio apartment, it was really small, and my dad's in a very large wheelchair at the moment. The room was too small, but the place was just absolutely gorgeous and the people there were nice. It didn't feel like that was a good place for him to be in, it was at the end of a very long hallway, and he can't walk very well right now. The place is just absolutely beautiful, top-notch looking. I think everything's great in it. It's bright. It's cheery. It's very up-to-date, very gorgeous and good. They were the nicest group of ladies. They were so pleasant. They were very sweet, I just met a lot of folks going down the hallway. Everybody was happy and everybody seemed to love where they were at. I didn't eat there, but the food sure did smell good. I didn't want to try it, but it smelled awesome because they have a dining room on each floor. So it was nice, intimate dining.

I went to The Retreat at Loganville. The tour went very well. It has just been remodeled. It was an excellent place. The memory care facility was not actually in the larger building. The memory care facility wasn't as nice as the larger building. We walked from one building to the other and it did not appeal to me. The person that led me through was very well-versed. She knew everything about the facility. She showed me absolutely everything and discussed everything. She was excellent. I saw the dining room; it was adequate. The outside facilities were adequate. I only saw two residents. I didn't get to see them eating or whatever. The rooms were adequate. They weren't as large as the other places, but they were adequate. They had both private and shared rooms. They had a very nice courtyard. They had the dining room and then another common area. It's a little small. The other building was assisted living. It has been nearly remodeled. It's beautiful. The memory care was just a separate little building, and it has not been remodeled or anything. I toured the assisted living and the memory care. The assisted living had two beautiful dining rooms, a beautiful living room area, a gathering room, and a library. It was excellent. It's just they haven't done anything with the memory care building yet.

I went to The Retreat at Loganville. They're very professional and very nice. The place was well maintained. It's very nice, just a little bit pricy for my mother. The facility was very clean. We got a tour of the group area where they eat, and we went and saw the available apartment that they had. It was very nice and very clean. It was almost brand new. They were putting in brand new appliances, repainting, and new carpet. It was great.

My mom moved into The Retreat at Loganville last Friday. We chose it because it's very close to my house, it's very clean, and I like the people there. It seems like a good atmosphere. She's in their assisted living. They're understaffed, actually, but the ones that are there do a really good job. The food is okay and the residents enjoy it. They have a salon and a courtyard. The place is near hospitals and restaurants. I think it's very expensive.

The lobby at The Retreat at Loganville was beautiful. It was like going into a mountain retreat, it was. But then you get back to the bedrooms, and the rooms were small and there was a faint odor. I was not impressed. The young lady that gave me the tour gave me much more information as far as options and help. The rooms were small. The staff told me they were doing some renovating as I go. It was more like going into a hospital than it was going into a living facility. I saw the dining area and it was clean. They have an activity room, but they did not have an activity person there. They offer different activities at that time for them, but I didn't get into a whole lot of it. They have gardens. They also have a gazebo that they said family members could go out, sit and visit with the people. The young lady that gave me the tour was very, very helpful as far as any extra help that the family might need in the future. She was very personable, very friendly, and very knowledgeable.

My husband is in The Retreat at Loganville, and so far I'm not pleased with the meals that he is getting there. The food is lousy. The other thing I did not like is their sales pitch is really good. Now that he's in there all this stuff is like this. I'm like "Oh, my God!" The place itself looked beautiful, but the service was not good. When I'm there the staff act really nice, but I've caught a couple of them not really servicing the people. Right now, there's not a lot of activities because they don't do anything, but play bingo. The activities director said that they're coming up with more. I suggested that they get all the veterans together because they don't have a lot to do by themselves. Outside of the rooms is fine, but they're supposed to give housekeeping one day a week, on the weekends. They haven't given him any housekeeping at all. We chose this place because of the pricing.

I visited this facility

I visited The Retreat at Loganville. The rooms were nice and spacious. Everything was well locked up because of the virus. I saw rooms; they had two different sized rooms. There was a little bit of a fee difference, but the rooms would have been suitable for a person in a motorized chair; it wouldn't be a problem. The cost of that was a little less than the others.

I didn't like The Retreat at Loganville, it's very dated so we're not interested. The person who helped us during the tour was very friendly and informative. The interior of their dining area looked very dated, it looked more like a cafeteria, we saw the residents eating. The place itself wasn't so big. They need to be remodelled and repainted.

Provider Response

Leslie, Thank you so much for taking the time to visit our community and leave us your feedback! We pride ourselves on providing amazing care and service to our residents. We are also very proud of being certified for the second year in a row as a Great Places To Work. Phoenix Senior Living acquired this community in August 2019. We invite you to visit us again this summer as we have a $1M interior renovation scheduled for completion by June 2020. Again, thank you for visiting us and we hope to see you again soon.

I have been living in the independent living section. I love that it fits my needs and everything. I really like it. The staff is great. I have a two-bedroom with a kitchen, living room, and a bath. They also have apartments that are bigger than the one I have. There are activities like games, bingo, devotionals, and different stuff. There's a bus that takes us to appointments and a small library. However, they don't have an exercise room, but it would be nice if they did. You get 20 meals a month. Sometimes the food is OK, and sometimes they're not.

It was very nice. I liked it. The people were very nice. The tour was great. I love the place, but I couldn't do that. The room was a 2-bedroom. It was more like a house setting. It had a front porch and a little patio in the back, with a kitchen with a refrigerator and stove. It was nice, but what they were charging a month, it was too much for me. They showed me a list of activities they offer, but the activities weren't every day. The setting was great, but it was more than I could afford.

It was very nice. They have cottages, but my parents have gone past the cottage thing where they live out by themselves and then they go down some place to eat. The rooms were not large enough for them and they didn't have enough closet space. They had assisted and independent living and we looked at both. In the assisted living, the rooms weren't large enough. They would've been fine living in a cottage, but they would have to leave every time they want to eat or whatever because the dining hall was right across the street. It just wouldn't work out for them. The cottage was very nice. If they had been younger, it would've been great, but they're not. They have a lot of activities. They have a library and a dining room. Everybody was very nice.

I am very pleased with the community, the staff, and the residents. My relative is in independent living, but if she falls, someone can be there in five minutes. They have been more than helpful and perfect for us.

It was nice. The independent living area was like a subdivision. The independent level had a separate activity center than the other levels of care, and we saw residents playing Bingo. One lady showed us her villa. All the villas were full, but it's a little smaller than other places we've seen and we didn't like them. They also have bricked cottages which were actually duplexes. They were very nice and spacious with a bathtub in the master bedroom and a second bedroom with its own walk-in shower. It also had a living room area, dinette, a nice kitchen, vaulted ceilings, and a full laundry room with a washer and dryer.

My mother in law was there for respite care which seemed hard to find a facility that would allow someone to stay temporarily. They were extremely nice, helpful, and efficient! If my mother in law needs a permanent place this will be our pick! Thank you for taking such great care of her so that I could rest and have a vacation.

I really liked it, but it was too far for the other family members to visit frequently. It was a nice place, it was beautifully decorated, and it was warm and inviting. The people were warm and nice. They had something planned every day; they would go to the library, Walmart, or other places. The staff was very nice, and it was a nice tour.

I liked it very much. It was nice, clean, very open, warm, and welcoming. I didn’t like that they didn’t serve meals for the independent living. I liked the layout and roominess of the apartment.

My mom moved to this community, which has a separate building for memory care. It’s very nice and pleasant. You ring a door bell, and when you go in, there's a courtyard. It does not feel impersonal, unlike the other facilities we’ve seen. The staff was very pleasant, friendly, and helpful. They gave some good suggestions for helping get her set up.

The location was perfect. I liked the general appearance because it’s a nice large place that has plenty of area for gardens and walking around. It’s a large, well maintained, and clean looking environment. They have different room types depending on what you’re looking for; some are big, and some are small. Everyone was friendly, very accommodating, their general knowledge is high, and they offered us something to drink. We were looking for a place that has activities, and they got activities throughout the day and evening. That was nice. They provide a van service to shopping or to the doctors.

It was an awesome place. Their food was really good. We had lunch there one day and spoke with Linda. She was very nice, very cordial. Everyone there was good to us when we visited. My mom knew some people there, which was another reason we checked that out. The rooms had kind of a hotel feel: bathroom, bed, that was it. They have a great pecan roll. If you're ever in that area, go by there and get one. They gave me a list of activities as far as the bingo, arts and crafts, puzzles.

It is just the best out of all facilities for my money. My mom has a room there that is pleasant and functional, and that's basically what I was looking for. The staff is very knowledgeable, very gracious, and very attentive. They have a wide variety of activities and my mother has a wide variety of interests, so it was a good fit. Food is excellent. I would recommend this place to others.
