So far we like it at Country Gardens of Duluth. They were able to work with my dad. The staff has been helpful and the communication went well. My dad has lots of financial issues, and they have been able to work with him on that, so it's been nice. The community has been great, and so far, the staff has been understanding, helpful and timely. He has a necklace for when he needs help getting to the restroom and other things, and considering they have other people they've got to work with too, they still make it to him in a timely manner. They have all been very kind to him and he likes their food. They take him out to Walmart or to eat, they get him out and about. They've got a couple of different places for the residents to hang out, they have a little store in there, and they do weekend activities for families to come up and spend time with them.

Country Gardens Duluth is wonderful, and we're very pleased with them. The rooms are kept clean. For somebody who doesn't need a lot of things, the rooms are plenty big. My mom's room is one of the smallest, but it fits her bed, chest, drawers with a TV sitting on top of it, a nightstand, a tall skinny cabinet, baker's rack, and two little metal wire frame type shelves with drawers. The shower is strictly a shower with no tub, but it has a place for my mom to sit. They have lots of activities like bingo, musical concerts for different kinds of music, therapy dogs, jigsaw puzzles, and a small library where people can pick out books and read. Occasionally, they play for stuffed animals that a church group provides, and they play until everybody gets an animal. They have a podiatrist who comes in and trims their toenails, and a TV room where family can come in and visit. They also have different pastors from different churches.

I was in Country Gardens, which is in Duluth. It was very nice. The staff was good. There was a no pets policy, so that was a stumbling block for me because I have a cat. The dining room was very nice. The activities were average and few. The food was nice, and the dining area was kept very clean and friendly. The room was large enough. It was one room with a bathroom.

My mother-in-law enjoyed being at Country Gardens of Duluth during her one-week stay. Her room was small but adequate for her. The activities were bingo, cards, and devotional time.

Plantation South of Duluth has plants outside, nice benches and rocking chairs, and a lot of windows. The lobby has chairs, a fireplace, chairs, and tablets to socialize at and very nice hallways. I like it because it’s really bright and cheerful with a yellow painting in it. The cafeteria was really nice and had lots of windows and they a service coffee area. They play cards, have devotional Bible study, and have an area for media or computer access. They have comfortable couches and recliners. The person who assisted us was very personable, helpful, and friendly. They showed me the rooms and was very informative about the facility. They take them on outings to the grocery stores, doctors', and scenic places in the area.

Plantation South of Duluth was nice and clean. They had professional staff. They had a dining room as well. They had a menu everyday that they could choose from. If they did not like anything on the menu, they would make them something different. They were not stuck on the standard menu. They had a courtyard that they could go out on. They had a pool table. They had a devotional meeting. They did not provide transportation to doctor's appointment, but they had a regular PTP doctor.

My tour at Plantation South Duluth was fine. I enjoyed it. The dining area was set up quite nice -- 4 people at a table -- and it's very pleasant. The grounds are very pleasant and nice, and it had a small walking area. The staff was fine, pleasant, and informative.

I like Plantation South of Duluth the most because of its location, which is only three miles away from my house. Everything is fine at this facility. The room is the right size for him, and the staff seems confident. My dad hangs out in the library a lot. They don’t have a lot of off-site activities, but once a week, they go to Walmart or Target. My father complains about the food because it's not very good nor nutritious. He only gets a sandwich for dinner since hot meals are only served at lunch. They should improve their menu.

We appreciate your feedback. The concerns related to the dining experience and activity programs would definitely impact one's experience. Some of them warrant research in order to validate, and some seem to be matters that could easily be remediated once brought to our attention. In addition to your post, we hope and highly encourage that you have also taken the time to present these concerns to the Executive Director. It is an honor to call your loved one our resident, and we only want the best for him.

Plantation South of Duluth reminded me more like a hotel or apartment. I didn’t want to bring my uncle’s wheelchair in there, so he tried to walk, but they were helpful and looked for a wheelchair. The owner wasn’t there at that time, but I did talk to her. They gave me her cell phone, and she called me back and answered any other questions that I had or tried to give me some suggestions and help even if we didn't choose her place, so she was nice. It was just really a cozy place.

Plantation South Duluth was small place. The largest room they had available was smaller than the one I believe my parents have now. The size and space were a definite deciding factor. I didn't dislike anything about it; it was just that the space was not going to be large enough for my mom and dad, so we ruled that out. The grounds looked OK to me; it was neat.

I chose particularly Plantation South Duluth because I had good references to them, and they also had a service that helps to work with veteran services, VA benefits, and the fact that they are seven minutes away from my house. All of that together is a really good set of reasons. They actually take a very strong personal interest in the residents. They have a variety of activities, very small operation, and they develop personal relationships, so my mother has great relationships with the caregivers, and they go above and beyond. They give me a lot of feedback, and I have developed relationships with the caregivers as well. I’ve got quite a loyalty to them now.

The visit at Plantation South was very good. It is 2 miles from my house, and they have a lot of green space or area outside for the residents to enjoy. It was an older facility, but they are renovating each room. The staff was excellent. The lady I was supposed to meet with was sick, but her back up who sat with me was very nice and knowledgeable. I talked with the regional director; she was in a meeting and gave me a tour. The staff that was wandering around the hall was very nice too. The dining room has a great setup. They had a music event, shopping, churches will come in and sing, and craft activities. I have some of my neighbors whose parents have been there 30 years, and they were very happy with it. I’ve got some good references.

My mother was a resident of Plantation South - Duluth for 8 years and she loved it there. The entire staff made her feel loved and cared for. When I would leave after a visit, I felt complete peace knowing that mom was where she wanted to be and that she was safe and watched over. I will be forever grateful to this wonderful establishment and it's employees for takiing care of my mom until the end in the most humane and loving way possible. I cannot recommend them enough!

Plantation South Duluth was nice. The rooms were small, but it was okay. The staff seemed very nice and very helpful. They had some activities. They also had people come in and people who brought pets, which was nice.

Plantation South's motto is, "Looks like home, feels like family." I have found this to be true. The staff is professional but very interactive with and caring of the residents. I make many unannounced visits and always see friendly smiles and genuine service. The facility itself is always clean. Food and food service is excellent. Activities for the residents abound and keep them engaged as often as they want. Placing my mother in assisted living was a difficult decision but she has been at Plantation South for two years and I have such peace of mind, all due to their dedication to live up to their motto.
