My mother has moved into Laurel Lodge Assisted Living & Memory Care. I like all of it. That's why she's there. She loves the food, she loves the people, and she loves the staff. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It's got huge living rooms, two of them so that she can socialize if she wants. The dining room is real big. The food is excellent. Their bathrooms are exceptional. They have bingo, a movie theater, and they show movies every other day and they have exercise classes. She does not participate in a whole lot, but she still gets around and she is independent.

The reason why I toured Laurel Lodge Assisted Living & Memory Care is that I had my mom in that facility before. I was very happy with it. The staff were very friendly. It definitely would have been my other choice for my brother. If they didn't have a waiting list, I would have probably chosen them mainly for convenience purposes because they were closer to where I live. I had a meal or two there in the past, and their food was very good. Another neat thing was, around Christmas time, my mom had lobster tail, which was a nice meal for Christmas Eve. They had physical therapy, occupational therapy, events, and games for the seniors on both sides (the memory care as well as the assisted living side). They had a beautiful common area where they had entertainment periodically. They may have people come in and sing or play the piano or do something like that. They also had a haircutting salon for the residents, so it was very convenient. You go in there, and it's neat and clean like they just cleaned it each day. The staff was excellent. They strive for excellence there when it comes to providing quality care.

My dad stayed at Laurel Lodge Assisted Living & Memory Care for two and a half months. The place was big and beautiful. They did not require masks. The facility was outstanding. The dining room was large, and the food was delicious. The staff was very, very gracious and friendly. The care that my dad received was outstanding. They had a salon and a very big luxurious theater. They had a happy hour in an old-time-looking saloon that had been modernized. There was country music and it made the residents feel like they were going somewhere special once a week. Everything at this place was very grand.

My mother is in Laurel Lodge Assisted Living & Memory Care. For the most part, they're a pretty decent facility. They communicate and they seem to give everybody as much attention as they can considering how demanding that may be sometimes and can be difficult, but they do pretty well. The staff members are friendly and seem to care, though I wouldn't say they're perfect. They have plenty of activities and programs, but the patient had to be willing to partake in those. Her room is fine, you could have an option of having a single or a double room with a roommate, and it's rather spacious. It's not an old facility and is just about two or three years old, so it's not rundown and it looks nice. The food's good, there were days where the meals weren't as good as others and they can be bland because you've got people there trying to watch their intake. I met a few of the cooks there and the lady that prepare the meals, they're very sweet and attentive and seem to take any kind of constructive criticism pretty well. About 90% of the meals are damn good. They have several little gaming areas and bookshelves, there's a nice patio with rocking chairs and outdoor space. they have a little bar there and some nights they have a happy hour so people can go and have a glass of wine or beer. They also have pool tables and stuff for them to do, there's a gathering area, and they have a little beauty salon which is a little place to get their hair and nails done. There's a lady who comes by once a week and does hair appointments and nails, and she's a very sweet lady, very kind, and very willing to work with you. Laurel Lodge is very willing to work with you and they're very reasonably priced for the care. I don't have any major complaints about them at all. The staff is really good, but like any other medical field, they're running low on staff and that's everywhere, not just them. They'll talk to you, they notice things, and you get some that are better than others. It's a little cheaper than others because they are so far out north and out in the mountains up in North Georgia, they're a good hour and a half away from Atlanta. You get decent care but at a better value. They're significantly priced and are willing to work with people that have fixed incomes.

Laurel Lodge Assisted Living & Memory Care is a clean and caring place. It's new, they opened up in September, so there's not a lot of reviews. Part of that concern is, you have to deal with new paint, new carpet smells, and things like that, which some people might be sensitive to. There is a lot of carpet there, if I remember correctly. They have standard single rooms, deluxe rooms, and shared rooms. I did not tour the memory care, my sister toured that, but the memory care is set up identical to the assisted living. If you move from assisted living, the transition is easier. They have a lot of activities too. They have snacks out, coffee out, but I did not attend during the mealtime. The price is the only part I didn't like, but they all seemed happy there, and there's plenty of things to do.
