If I could give Alto Senior Living at Buckhead more than 5 stars I would. Let me start by saying that I seldom take the time out of my schedule to write reviews, but absolutely had to share feedback given the phenomenal care my mother receives at this community. Finding a place for a loved one that meets all of your needs is a challenging task. After conducting an exhaustive review of assisted living communities in the Atlanta area, I was introduced to Alto by an outstanding care consultant (Victoria A. with Care Patrol). Her expertise in this area drastically changed my life, identified realistic options, and a path to get to what my mother ultimately needed. From the initial tour at Alto to present day, the entire staff at this community continues to perform at an outstanding level of service. Whether it is front office, nurse, kitchen, maintenance, or housekeeping, every interaction is positive and filled with genuine concern for my mother’s well-being. There are countless examples I can think of where staff performs at the professional level one would expect. The confidence in knowing your loved one is safe and happy is priceless. Moreover, when there are areas in which I would like to see a change, I am readily able to access the appropriate person and feel confident about the change being put into motion as soon as possible. I love that it is not one of the larger assisted living centers and you have an opportunity to really develop a “family community”. Everyone knows everyone which means there is a shared level of accountability ultimately adding to the level of support any resident receives. Last but certainly not least, the quality and frequency of activities Alto offers by far exceeds all of the other assisted living communities I researched. My mother is still very active and needs to remain engaged in as many activities as possible. I’ll end my review with this… The staff at Alto has been able to make my mother feel comfortable, safe, and well taken care of. She is VERY particular and moved from living in the same residence for over four decades in another state. If you are caring for an aging parent you have to know this is no easy feat! If you’re in the process of evaluating assisted living communities, let me save you tons of time, heartache, and decision fatigue…choose Alto Senior Living at Buckhead. When you leave the caregiving to them, it really allows you to spend the time on what really matters!

I can't say enough wonderful things about Alto Senior Living in Buckhead/Sandy Springs. My father was there in memory care just a short time, but the staff became like family and took amazing care of him. And us. The community, which is privately owned and newly renovated, is gorgeous and feels more like a beautiful, cozy home than a typical facility. And special attention is paid to the colors, furniture, upholstery, lighting, etc to create a calming environment - something that made my dad's stay more comfortable. I'm so grateful that we found Alto and can't recommend it highly enough.

Charter Senior Living of Buckhead is a very good, clean place. My mom has a really nice room. The staff really seems to care about the residents. They try to get them involved, which is what my mother-in-law needed.

The experience was good at Bickford of Buckhead. The rooms and facility were small, though. The staff, dining area, and location were good. It was actually easy to get to. The place looked clean, but it was a little small.

Bickford of Buckhead was very nice. If and when the time comes, this is probably the place we'll pick. It was very neat and clean, and everybody seemed very friendly. My aunt likes to do is swim, and they have a shuttle that could take her to go swim in the morning.

We liked Bickford of Buckhead. It’s close to our house, and we probably will use it if we need one. It’s not in a real large facility so we like that. The rooms were nice, and spacious. The staff was very friendly.

Since July 1, 2015 the situation has declined at Bickford of Biuckhead. A new Executive Director arrived on July 1 and since then the staff keeps changing. She fired the first activities director, hired a part time activities in November and now she has left. The wonderful chef who my mother loved (as did everyone) was fired in November. The Head Nurse who residents and families trusted and had great communication skills left in September - families saw how she was treated. Residents are now starting to leave. The corporate headquarters have been told how bad the Executive Director is but there has been no response. Morale is low among residents and families.

Bickford of Buckhead was very pleasant, the people were very nice, and I have been here for years, so this proves to be as nice as I had thought it would be. My room is small, but adequate. There are some in-house things. We have an activities director, and they take us out for meals twice a month and grocery shopping. I would suggest that anyone who is interested seriously should look at the place. This has been recently remodeled, and it is a very comfortable place to be.

My parent has lived at Bickford for 2 years. I had help identifying a small facility with reasonable prices, close to hospitals, and outstanding CNA's. The new 2014 Director has done an excellent job of tightening up policies, procedures, and staffing. As with all facilities, there is turnover in chefs, activities directors, and nurses. But there have been many staff there the entire 2 years. They have worked with us through hospitalizations, falls, mediation changes, etc. And the small size if the facility allows for every staff member to know not only our parent but us adult children as well. There are several activities a day, both for the assisted living residents and the Alzheimer's unit residents. The only limitation is limited outdoor walking areas, but the rooms are spacious, food is good, birthdays and holidays are celebrated, and we feel our parent is safe and content. I looked at many places, and this one feels most like "home and family".

I chose Bickford of Buckhead for my parents because the facility had a full range of care that they needed. The location was optimal for them for getting to their doctors. And when we selected the facility, they had a special which was financially attractive. The care they received was fantastic. They had fewer residents even when they were on full occupancy. My parents lived in several facilities but they loved the care here by far. They were very complimentary about the food which was surprising. However, they had a lot of staff turnover since my parents moved in and so there were a lot of changes in leadership. One of the things that I struggled with was when my father was discharged from the hospital and had been sent back via ambulannce to the facility. The woman who was in the acting-lead nursing position had refused to allow him to come back because they have not done an assessment and have not been alerted about his return. When I spoke with her, I said if I would have known about the assessment, I would have made sure it was done. That was also the day my father was put in hospice and would get an assessment by the hospice that night once he got home. And she turned him away to go back to the hospital where there was no bed for him. It was a complete fiasco and by the time I got there, she had left for the day and gone home. I raised this to the new director since they tried to enforce something which they had not communicated. It was not documented in any of the policies or rules. There was no flexibility. And also, I did not consistently get phone calls if one of my parents had an issue. But overall, except for the communication issue, it had been a great place for them.

Edenbrook of Buckhead is top notch for the money. My mother is currently there in the alzheimer's unit. She has a large area to freely walk around that looks like a home, plenty of caregivers to engage her, very delicious food, has manicures, her hair done, lotion rub downs at night -- she doesn't want to leave when we try to take her out for an outing because she doesn't want to leave her friends. I strongly recommend this facility, especially if your loved one has dementia. They are about as good as I could imagine for the money -- this is dementia assisted living at its best.
