My sister moved in at Five Oaks Rest Home 3 months ago. They don't do injections there because they don't have a nurse that comes in to do that. They changed her injections to pills, which worked out well. My sister is in a good place where everybody has a good attitude. If a patient goes into the living room to watch TV and she wants hot tea, the staff goes into the kitchen to get her hot tea. The food they serve is home cooked. We had 2 dinners there before my sister went in, and she insisted we go back there. One or 2 crew would go down to the river and catch shrimps and stuff and they take them back to cook for the residents. They only have about 15 residents there. You could bring in your own appliances if you want to, but you don't need to because you can go to the kitchen and they can get you anything you want any time. The coffee rack and the candy rack are in the main office and it's open to the residents from 9 until 4. You can walk in and out of that office at any time. The cleanliness of the facility is perfect, it doesn't smell like a nursing home. They have a whirlpool bath, a walk-in shower, and a soaker bath. They have all kinds of baths anytime you want. A lot of residents like to sit out front on the rockers and gliders and watch the cars go in and out. Sometimes, they like to walk around the building. If you need to go to the doctor, they can take you there. They also have several houses outside of the building that you can rent instead of being in the building. They have church services, midnight Bible studies on Wednesday nights, and arts and crafts. More people need to know about this place because it is within the budget of most families.

The workers are unlicensed or not certified in anything. The food is horrible & the patient I know has gotten sick from it many times. The woman running the place & some of the workers can be very cold & mean to the patients. It is a dismal place and is ridden with roaches. Sometimes the patients do not receive their medication at the right times and if they ask for it they get their heads chewed off. I believe this place only cares about is the mighty dollar $$. There are no activities for the patients, maybe Bingo occasionally. the rooms are smaller than a motel room, more just like a regular house bedroom & plain. Unlit walkway for at night, dangerous The whole place is very dark there at night, which I think is unsafe. There are no phones in the rooms & no emergency devices. Cable tv, and that's it.

I only saw one room at Five Oaks Rest Home. It was OK, it was clean, it was very plain and plainly furnished, and there was like an end table. I didn't talk to anybody except the owner, and she was nice and knowledgeable. The facility itself was OK. It's pretty plain, it's been there for a while and it's showing its age a little bit, but it was clean and presentable. There was nothing terrible.

I was impressed by the cleanliness and the openness of Five Oaks Rest Home. My room is adequate, and the food is wonderful. We have bingo once a month, and group singers that come in and dance. The staff members are wonderful. I also have my little dog with me here.

Five Oaks looked depressing, but the people looked clean and cared for. The staff was helpful and friendly. She had a semi-private room, but there was nobody in there with her. The room was clean and sufficient. She seemed to enjoy the food. They have the usual exercises, singing, and somebody reads to them. We had some personality conflicts with the lady running Five Oaks. They shouldn’t be too overbearing to the relatives or try to make decisions for them.

My father, Dalton, was a resident here and they went above and beyond to fill his wishes! They give the utmost care and concern for their clients and unlike most places are more geared at filling their day to day wishes and likes! I was an in-home healthcare provider for 30 years and if I could pick a place for my final residency...It would be here, surrounded by LOVE and Caring and where the wildlife roam!
