I would not recommend Dixie Oak Manor, LLC. When we first walked in it, nobody even knew we were there, nobody addressed us, and nobody said anything, and we just walked right in. Nobody was at that door area. It's an older facility, I understand that, but it wasn't for my mom. So that's why we went on to look farther on our own, and that's when we found another place. Everything was a shared room. That was more like a nursing home situation than an assisted living. There were two people in the room, and that was one thing that we didn't like about it. It's a one-story facility. I felt better about a bigger facility with more nurses on staff and that kind of stuff. The person who took us around was good. She was okay. Out in the back was a little covered area that had a walkway going out to it, but not overly fancy or anything like that. It's just one little place.

All we saw at Dixie Oak Manor were old people lying in bed. They share a bathroom, which was different from other places. The good thing about it was that it was affordable. The location of the place was not the greatest. We didn’t see an awful lot of amenities. We saw the dining hall and that was about it.

Dixie Oak seemed to be well managed except that the location was too far away from the doctors. The staff was friendly.

Dixie Oak Manor was pleasant and nice but was a small facility with few residents. It seemed like a lot of the residents were maybe a decade and a half older than my mother, so she wouldn't have a whole lot of social interaction. They were playing bingo when I took her. The rooms were a little too small for what my mom is looking for.
