My friend is a resident of Osprey Lodge. The apartment living is very nice. The apartments are all nicely designed and relatively small. The dining hall is large enough and the people there seemed pleased with the meals. I've eaten there with my friends twice for lunch, and I can't say I've been overly impressed. Their activities are much more limited because it is assisted living instead of independent living. They have card games, bingo, or things of that sort but not physical activity. They do allow pets, and I did see several residents out on the grounds walking their dogs. They had a small kitchenette with no burners of any kind. They had microwaves and refrigerators but were not set up for people to cook a meal.

Osprey Lodge was totally impressive. The meal that we had there was excellent. The facility was neat and clean. The staff was friendly and great. I had a lot of questions about the assisted living part of it. There were card games and a chess match going on.

Osprey Lodge is a beautiful place for assisted living. It's a very nice place upon looking at that. But you go over to the memory care side, I just couldn't do it. I wouldn't even consider the place. The apartments were probably the smallest out of every place. They appeared to be clean, but very small. I didn't see any amenities for memory care. There was a little courtyard. Assisted living is beautiful, and memory care is much different. It was lunchtime and the residents were having lunch. They were pretty far advanced into Alzheimer's or dementia as opposed to some of the other places where the residents weren't like that. I think that was what was most traumatic that there were patients that were in pretty, pretty advanced stages, and that's why Osprey Lodge looked so bad. Everyone's head was hanging in their place. They looked like either they were way too medicated or there was something not right, and the picture didn't look right. It's a much older facility. It seemed that they have just given up on memory care. Where they were sitting and eating, it reminded me of a country bungalow or something. It needed an update. The staff weren't interacting with the residents. Nobody was attending to the residents, and there were probably about 20 residents. They were all just kind of huddled in like the kitchen area. The head of the whole program that runs admissions is very knowledgeable. She's spent a lot of time with me. I did tell her that I couldn't do the place because it was so dismal the way it was in the memory care, and she understood. She agreed with me. It's a very hard thing to say. Residents are particularly advanced, and not all the facilities are residents advanced like this.

They had memory care at Osprey Lodge, but they were just way too big and they couldn't meet mom's needs anymore. They could have a much better executive director. The food was definitely not great. This was way before the pandemic, and they were not ever short staffed. They're extremely short staffed now of course, because of what's going on with the pandemic. The accommodations themselves were absolutely beautiful, the whole place probably was. It looked like a huge resort. The rooms had a kitchenette in them with a microwave, a sink, a refrigerator, cabinet space, and stuff like that. They had a nice bathroom. My mom had a bedroom. She also had a separate room that you could use as a bedroom, but she used that as her living room. She had her full-sized dining room table near the kitchenette. They had music time, art time, and bingo. They would do anything to help them with their memory and keep them up-to-date. They had a lot of really good music there. People came to the facility and performed. For the 4th of July, they had a big thing outside because it was a really big place. They had other celebrations for them. If they wanted their birthday celebrated, they would celebrate those. They had a wine Wednesday. It's five floors. They had a salon and an exercise place. They take them on the bus if they need to go shopping at Publix or whatever, to a theater, or to doctors' appointments. Their activities were good.

We visited Osprey Lodge in December. I think it would probably be assisted living because they're all in-house apartments. It's very friendly and looked like a very well cared for place We happened to be there right near Christmas time and they were having some little get-together and a sing-along. We had the chance to have a few little snacks and that seemed very nice. The person that we were with was very charming. She was very helpful with our questions too. We looked at an apartment that was furnished and we looked at 2 others that were not. I think they were, if I remember correctly, about 620 square feet. They were relatively good in size. There was a bedroom, a little kitchenette, and then another sitting room so there was plenty of room. It looked very nice the time we were there. It was clean and everybody seemed to be very happy. We didn't talk very long but we spoke to a couple of the residents and they were very encouraging about coming to stay there. The dining area was like a regular restaurant area with tables and chairs set up. I did not try anything except a cookie and some juice which were good. I can't say that the cooking was excellent because we did not try to eat a real meal. They showed us the menu though and I gather that you can pretty much have your choice if you did not like what was on the menu. There were some other choices that you could have. They have a kind of a little store too where you could purchase little sundries and some candy.

My friend moved into Osprey Lodge in memory care. I was looking for someplace that could provide him the care that I felt he needed. I visited Osprey Lodge and I went through my expectations with them, what my concerns were since his surgery, and my experiences since then, and I toured the facility and I spoke to quite a few of the staff, I just felt like it was a place that was more suitable for him. From what I've experienced of the food, it's very good. They not only looked appetizing according to my friend, but they also taste good. They have a choice and they make those choices known to the person. They just don't set something down in front of them and walk away. They make sure that it's something they'll eat, and if not, they tell them what the alternates are. I'm very happy with the food, and I'm also very happy with his room. It's more than adequate in size and the setup is great. He has a very nice room. They do a lot of participation with music and dance, they have their daily exercises with passing the balls around or different things and a couple of times a week, they put them on the bus and they take them just for scenic rides and tell them about things. There's just several things. The staff there is very good. They're great. I have not met anybody that hasn't responded to anything I've asked. They right away got on whatever my concerns were. The facility is great. There are a lot of activities going on there.

My father-in-law is moved into Osprey Lodge. If there was a higher scale than a plus, I would give it. The staff is amazing, caring, active, engaging, just amazing; that's really great staff, like they care very much about the residents. They are so helpful with just everything. It's gorgeous. You feel like you're walking into a resort. Everything about it is built to look like a resort, and that's what it feels like, every part of it. He's in memory care, so he needs everything. I mean, I don't really know too much about that but he gets OT, PT, and they do games. They do trips twice a week. They go out and do things, and they have transportation to doctors' appointments included in that. It's a great location, it's off the road, and there's a couple of different ways to get to it. It's beautiful ground. I think they're doing some development possibly across the way from it, but it's beautiful. The grounds are gorgeous and it's nice, neat, and clean. The area is good; we stayed in the hotel very close to it when we were down there. So, it's got like that if you want to go visit and stuff like that. The food is delicious. It's very good food. They've talked to me about different things, and they've gotten him engaged in things.

My mother is in Osprey Lodge. It's a very nice community. I had asked people who were going in to visit their loved ones there and they all gave it five stars. It really has been wonderful. They keep me updated on everything almost on a daily basis. She's happy, she's made friends, and right now it's peaceful. I like the activity level they have given her. It's wonderful. She has a roommate, and she has activities from 9:00 to 6:00. It's just been good for her and to me too right now, and it's close to my home. Her room is nice and large for both of them, and it's clean. The whole place is clean, and the whole lodge is clean. They look really happy. They're kept active with activities all the time. She's doing well there. It seems like they have a lot of caring people in there. Every time I go there it's immaculate, and it's a safe place for her. The food is very diverse, there's a lot of good stuff there, and her being diabetic, she gets the food that she can have.

Horror stories. A fight broke out in the hall between two residents. One ended up in the hospital with a broken arm. Where was the staff to break up the fight? My husband finds other people's clothes in his closet and at one time, a wheelchair. Laundry piles up for days even after my complaints. Sometimes, it goes out and isn't returned for two or three days even after I get after them. Hubby does like the food and the service, but resents the invasion of his privacy when he is scheduled to take a shower. I put him there for respite care while I collected my self. He can bathe, dress, and feed himself. He has no hearing or vision problems. He's not in a wheel chair and interacts well with staff. But the other residents are obviously in the final stages. He's not, but management refuses to let me take him out in spite of my doctor's approval.

We checked out Osprey Lodge, it was a little on the expensive side, but the lodgings were a 5. Its a bigger facility with multiple floors, and elevators. We had a deposit to stay there for my wifes father. If you go inside, it looks like a hunting lodge. Its beautiful, the rooms were bigger, more modern, and theres a lake view out back and a nice porch. They offered a complimentary lunch with a family member, and I would give that a 5. They have a firework show out back over the lake at the Fourth of July, they have a happy hour on Wednesdays, and I think its more social, and if youre more active, then thats the place to go. Because of the multiple floors, longer hallways, it could get quite confusing for somebody with severe memory problems.

An elderly friend of mine moved to Osprey Lodge 2 weeks ago. The place she was in was not very good, so this was definitely a big step up. The atmosphere and decor is beautiful. Every member of the staff I have had contact with have been very friendly and helpful. The apartments are very nice. She needed more lighting, they installed extra lights. They hung all her pictures and did a very professional job. They checked on her throughout her first couple days there, showed her around and introduced her to other residents. She says the food is very good and they give her so much she can't eat it all. And if I wasn't impressed enough already, I received a phone call giving me full details on her medical check-up. I give this place 2 thumbs up and would highly recommend it.

I was invited to bring my old car to the 50-60's Car Cruise on April 17th at your fine facility, and really enjoyed myself, visiting with the residents and the other car guys. We were served a nice lunch and ice cream sodas, with a dose of Elvis! The staff of Osprey Lodge did a wonderful job of bringing this together for their residents. I was glad to come and be part of a fun time with the "Oldies". Jon E.

Was not impressed. Memory care unit. Is very small. Smells. Done very cheap. Kitchens are out in open. And residents can grab utensils and food. Very unsafe. I found it actually to be very disgusting. If you love your family member do not bring them here

One of the things I like about Osprey Lodge of Tavares is it’s close to me. The day my sister moved there, she was hospitalized, but now, she looks better than I have seen her looking in months. They have a long list of things to do but she’s not interested. They have movies and Wii Bowling. Every time I go there, people are down in the lobby or outside talking to each other. One of my neighbors is over there and loves it. The staff is very friendly and very helpful. They go in and tell her when it’s meal time and talk to her. The community is clean and spacious. Everybody there is friendly; not only the workers but also the residents. The doctors come to see her. It’s a very nice place.

I am only giving it 3 stars because I am moving from Osprey as soon as they break the news that the Administrator is leaving. I think the place is going through some financial difficulties. It has been so disruptive with all the agencies assessors in the facility around the clock. We werre told the people were corporate but mom has lived her 2 years now and I have never seen corporate in the facility. Something is going on and the secrets are not good for anyone. We love the people and the place. The food is great with the new chef they hired. The building is always clean and very pretty.

I had a friend who was living in the Osprey Lodge, and she had a nice unit. It looks like a grand hotel. When you pull up to the portico and go into the lobby, it's very kind of rustic. It has a lot of animal heads up on the walls, very impressive. They have 2 wings on either side of the lobby, and it's like walking down the corridor in a big hotel. Her living room was so small she couldn't get a sofa in it, but the kitchenette had a dining area where she had her round dining table and chairs. Her window looked out onto a busy highway, but the window was so high and her chair was so low, so she couldn’t see anything. So I wasn't impressed with that, but I didn’t see one of the other units to make a comparison. It's very nice, but then it's pricey. They had the usual Bingo and little café, which I think is very nice because that brings people together to just chat over a cup of coffee. She was allowed to have her car.

I have to give this place 5 Stars. I would give it 10 if I could. My best friends mother is a resident at Osprey Lodge. We visited today and couldn't believe the interaction of the Administrator with the residents. She is fun and very involved. I would say the residents of Osprey Lodge look happy. I know we are very happy with our decison.

We have looked at Osprey Lodge. Compared to some of the other places that I’ve seen, for a thousand dollars more, you’re getting a whole lot more. The rooms are bigger. You’re getting higher quality people. It’s very clean.

Osprey Lodge was beautiful. It was spacious and not crowded-looking whatsoever. Everything looked first-class with beautiful grounds and lodges. The people were friendly. The staff who toured me was friendly and nice. Their dining area was very pretty, but I didn’t eat there. I saw several apartments, but the one I really liked was the one that looked out over the lake.

Osprey Lodge is a very nice place and only three years old. The staff is excellent. My girlfriend has adapted very well. They have a formal dining room and a service where they come take your order. You have a choice of two entrees per meal, and you get a linen napkin. They have a little private dining room for reserving when you want to have your family for dinner. There are plenty of activities, like a morning walk, card games, and a small library with jigsaw puzzles. The apartments are of a good size. The bedrooms are 12'x12', and you share a common area. She’s in a two-bedroom apartment, but they have one-bedroom apartments that are more expensive. All in all, it was the best place I found after I spent three months researching.

We were going to move my parents at Osprey Lodge. It's a beautiful and nice place. The memory care was more like what we wanted. It had more people on staff from what we saw and observed. They have a lot of really nice activities for memory care, and they really tried to engage them as much as possible. They can do nature walks, and they have swings; it's beautiful place for people to come and visit their loved ones. It doesn?t have the look of an assisted living or Alzheimer?s unit; it looks like you are at a resort vacation. We felt they would get taken care of well there.

Osprey Lodge was a very nice place. I recommend it to anybody that can afford it. It looked more like a hotel. It was very pleasant. They had activities most of the time. They had a wine bar where the residents can go sit, have wine, and listen to music once a week. They also had a dining area where the family can come and dine on birthdays and things like that. They had cards, movies, and chair exercises. They had a billiard room as well where the men can play pool. They were very pleasant. The people that work there were very good.

My mother was very ill, and they could not stay in their place anymore. So we placed her in an assisted living facility in Florida for the time being. It is Osprey Lodge in Tavares. The builder's father had Alzheimer's, so he built it with kind of the Alzheimer's patient in mind. It has the regular assisted living and memory care in the same building. It is kind of a rustic Colorado lodge. It has wood floors and a great big living area with high ceilings. It is really very nice. The back of it has a huge porch that looks out on the lake. The chef is changing, so I cannot speak for the future, but they have an Italian chef that comes in 4am every morning to make homemade pastries. I had lasagna there with the meal I ate, and it was comparable to any good Italian restaurant I've gone to. Their food is excellent. They have a little café which has a dispenser for coffee or orange juice. Homemade baked goods are always there and little snack items. They have a calendar every month, and then every night at dinner, they get a calendar for the next day printed out and given to them. They have a lot of things like they have a morning walk by the lake. They have different exercises, and they have entertainment that comes in. They do a lot of trips to grocery store but also to site seeing things, or they plan different events. Normally every day at three o'clock they have something going on down in the café like Milkshake Monday. There are a lot of things going on, and they have different groups for like bingo and people that get together that play dominoes. I'm totally impressed with the care. My mom and step dad are on the same floor actually in the nurse's station. It is a special rating where they can actually keep someone until the end of their life. They are very happy with it. Coming home and being that far away, I feel they are in good hands.

The building itself is nice, but the services are poor. The food isn't much better than fast food and the service is very slow. They used to provide residents with 6 food tickets per month so family and friends could eat with the residents. No more. And they charge an outrageous amount to eat there. They also can't deal with special meals like vegetarians which seems odd. Housekeeping stopped supplying plastic bags for the trash and now the residents are supposed to supply the bags themselves. Though the hospital is less than a half a mile away, they won't pick residents up from there, though they will take them to doctors appointments. They raised the rents again and for what you get, it isn't worth the money.

My relative has been in a facility called Osprey Lodge in Tavares about 20 minutes from where we live. She went there early October. This is an excellent facility. The aides there are good, and the management is good. The rooms are beautiful, and they're quite large. They have two major rooms; one is called the Boulder, the other is a Colorado, and they are as big as an apartment. There are three rooms and a bath. The services are good. They have movies, and they have singers and musicians come in. They have bingo and a lot of different activities.

Osprey Lodge is lovely decorated, but I find the food on the poor side. They don't have a gym or a pool. It is an assisted living, and I guess they feel that people are not capable of using those features. They do have people that come in to do physical and occupational therapy, but that is it as far as exercise is concerned. They do have a path around the place where the resident can take a walk if they want. Most of the other facilities assume you are a single person and don't accommodate couples. This particular facility has three small rooms and two baths, and that is the reason we chose it. This is the biggest facility for a couple that I could find.

Osprey Lodge was very nice too. The ground was beautiful. It has very easy access. It’s a step up from another facility I looked at. It’s beautiful, upscale, and very expensive. The rooms were very, very nice. I’ve wanted to have lunch there but we just never got around to it. From what I’ve seen, I think the staff was alright. I guess the residents seemed happy enough.

Osprey Lodge was a beautiful facility. It seemed very organized. They had a lot of activities, which was important for my mom. I thought the staffing was very adequate too. They were able to answer questions and they were all very helpful in offering recommendations. I looked the menu and the presentation of the area and out of all the facilities I had visited, I thought they were the top. They were very impressive. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience. It was a larger facility and they offered many activities. They have crafts, they take them on tours and they have a dog there that they could pet if they choose to. They have a library. They have movie nights. They just have a whole list of activities. Also they have plenty of parking in the area.

My husband stayed at Osprey Lodge for about a month before he passed away. We chose it because it was close to my daughter and it was brand new, beautiful, didn't have any odors and kept-immaculate. His apartment had a bedroom, bathroom and sitting room. They treated him very well, showered him everyday and brought him downstairs for his meals. I liked that when he buzzed the staff, they came immediately. They also had activities like movie night, meetings, wood workshop for men or just sat outside. The food was good too. I would recommend this place to others.
