No one wants to leave their loved one in the care of others but sometimes it can't be helped, and care is best left to professionals. When my Dad needed extra help the staff here went out of their way to stay in touch with us and determine a good plan for him. I am deeply indebted to everyone there, especially the Nurse Manager, Kathryn. She has been exceptional in her personal involvement with me and my family.. I don't know how we would have navigated it without her. Bless her, she treated my Dad just like she would have her own.

My mother was taken there after a hospital stay for rehab and was basically ignored. She could not get out of bed on her own and they never even let her brush her teeth. She called 911 because she thought she had been abandoned after her cries for help were ignored. Had to bring her home after 2 days and she still has nightmares about it.

Staff was nice but it’s very unorganized. I brought my father 5 pairs of cloths he left w 3 shirts, 2 pairs of underwear and 2 pairs of socks . I never actually saw him wearing any of the cloths I brought when I visited. When he was discharged he had dirty cloths on and not sure we was bathed regularly . I know they never brushed his teeth or put on deodorant bc what I brought was never opened in a month. He was only shaved once in a month. It’s a business and they are there to make money not sure they really care about help rehabilitate residents. Bed always has clean sheets on it and he seemed to like the food . My father has been in several rehab ‘s / ALF ‘s and this was the worst one .

I stayed at Excel for 1 month The rooms are very tight and the shared bathrooms are terrible The activities were great. I enjoyed the art class, karoke and bowling. Gary was very entertaining. My therapist Brian and Jennifer were great. Without them I would not be walking. Staff is very friendly and I had great care from my aides especially Ingrid. Management is very caring when you have a problem. As far as the food, it is was horrible. I was in Glen Cove center a couple of months before and the food was ten times better. Half the time I didn't eat and my husband had to buy food from the outside.

I am very pleased with the care my mother gets at Excel, and would recommend them highly. The staff is friendly and good with the patients. And the place is clean and orderly whenever I visit. My mother loves the activities and the food.

The skilled side of this facility provided fair care. However, once they moved my father to the nonskilled side, the care they provided plummeted. When he was sent to the hospital on a day they found him unresponsive, the doctor in the hospital said he must have been neglected for weeks. He had several bed sores on his body and old pills stuck in his mouth. Just horrible. He passed away 2 days later.

Horrible management and leadership. Susan needs to be fired and the director of social services. They do not communicate and it's confusing to know who to contact. Unprofessional and unresponsive. Our primary care physician had difficulties. Neglect on patients is a major issue. Four different patients fell within two weeks. Including my family member that was rushed to the hospital. They claim the staff would be coached. Do not send your loves ones there. I will be reporting to the state and anyone that will listen.

I'm trying to make a Comment but every time I try to it is typed in the Upper Case letters and it makes everyone think I'm shouting when I'm not. I have only Excellent report to give about Excel, hence the name? They care called Excel Rehab Center for a good reason. They at the rehab section thought me to handle uncooked beans and to place my left hand to massage it to getting better but the hand is beyond being healed. They thought be how to play Spades and a lot of other Games at Excel plus they allowed for me to participate in their Weekly Meetings and not only that their food is wonderful and if one does not like the food? They could order a Grilled Cheese instead. That never happened to me as I are every bit of food that was served to me all the time. Anyway I lost count to how many times I stayed at Excel but when I did? The Office Staff especially the Administrator was the most wonderful person or people there. They made sure my Paperwork was done properly. Not only did the Administration Staff, but the Discharge Staff like the entire Employees along with the CNA and Nursing Staff were so nice and took extra care of my Medical and none Medical care that one of the CNA there shaved me and did it with TLC=Tender Loving Care and then the fact that they come right to you and ask if I want to join their daily Activities including Bingo was a plus as I saw their Big Screen TV and their Tiny Blu-ray Player as the Plus but their Computer needed to be Upgraded now that the MS Windows XP is no longer functioning as to the Updates and Service and they will charge an Arm and a leg to fix anyone's PC if they bring an old XP to them? Well no one is willing to touch the old PC's with the OS of an XP instead of Windows 7 and 8? People still rely on the old OS. In closing Excel has met my Highest expectations for years to come. I intend to go there Next year to be a Permanent Resident. I love you people at Excel and soon would love to be a resident Next year!

Excel Rehab is a newer facility and has very nice rooms. They had both private and shared rooms and the private rooms are spacious. The staff was very nice and knowledgeable about the patients' needs. The food was good.

My mother-in-law had stayed in Excel Rehabilitation and Health Center. It was very nice. We were happy with their care and I thought she was treated well. I had nothing bad to say about them. They were very nice.
