My father-in-law is in total care at Angels Garden Assisted Living. It's a small group home with very caring, loving people. The staff members really care about their residents. The owner is personally involved in everyone's care. He doesn't do any activities because he can't walk. He's totally cared for as far as bathing and toileting and everything else. He basically moves from bed to wheelchair, wheelchair to chair. Most of the residents are psychiatric patients there for safety. It's convenient and local, within three miles of our house. They have walking areas, but the house is locked down. They can't go out and wander. They can go to the backyard or the side yard, but it's all gated and locked. The food is all home cooked.

I went by Angels Garden twice, and the last time I went by, they didn't have an opening. If they have an opening now, it would be great. It was really nice. People were caring, and willing to help. I enjoyed seeing what I'm seeing at the time. I had been to the place, and it was pretty nice. I had seen two or three staff members, they were very helpful. From what I've seen, they seemed to be nice. The lady gave me some food to take home with me, and it was enjoyable. I was grateful. The house, from what I could see, was small, but it had a lot of people other than myself, so I have to consider that.

Angels Garden would not be a place where I would be content because I'm not used to that kind of living: one dark room and a shared bath. These were a lot of Spanish people who all seemed to be getting along just fine, and I think that they love it there. I do not speak Spanish, so I told the girl, "If I come here, you'll have to teach me Spanish," and she said she will teach me Spanish. They had a swimming pool which would really sell me if I had to go there, but the room rate was more expensive than what I'm going to pay at the other community.

Knowing that we would be in the Orlando area, we decided to make an appointment to see Angels Garden assisted facility as an option for my friend's mother. She has a lot of friends and family in the region, so it would be very convenient. We've always liked the area - as there is plenty to do and the weather is mild year-round. We really liked how well the staff greeted us. The grounds were all well manicured - with plenty of areas for residents to enjoy. We saw all of the common areas, which were really nice. There were plenty of scheduled events and activities to choose from. From reading to visits into town for all the cultural events, the seniors are never bored and enjoy all that Tampa has to offer. The snacks offered included everything from specially designed and prepared baked goods, to fruits, vegetables and other delicious items. Despite the fact that they were made to be healthy, they all looked like they tasted really good. The dining room was also really lovely - as were all the adjacent communal areas. The guest lunch meal that we had was really great. All of the seniors looked very well cared for and seemed quite content living here - where they had plenty of freedom, in a safe and sensible environment.
