I loved the time that i spent in this facility. The staff is wonderful and caring. I would have liked a discussion on procedures my first night here. Especially about the use of diapers and meal times. The people really enjoyed activities (especially me!) Coloring, bingo, painting and playing with balloons are the favorites.

Mi husband as sent to Avante in St Cloud on 2/17/23 and I removed him on 2/19. The place was filthy the food was cold and horrible. He laid in poop for more than an hour after several calls for help. On another occasion he was told “ I don’t have time to help you!” He was placed in a broken bed and squeezed in between 2 other occupied beds with only 12” between. He was suppose to receive 1 hour of rehab and was given 10 minutes. Staff is overwhelmed as there are too many residents.

My father stayed in Avante At Saint Cloud for two weeks. It was not professional. My father was not taken care of properly. He fell four times in those two weeks, and one of those times landed him in the hospital. The staff were doing what they were told to do. As an institution, they have its rules and regulations, not necessarily looking for the best interest of the patient. That's why my father fell so many times. Because in the state of Florida when you have a patient with my father's condition, no restriction can go in place, so my father was unattended all night, and those were the times that he fell and hurt himself. He was still in rehab because my father didn't have his long-term Medicaid approved. I pulled him out because there were so many falls that could have been prevented and they didn't prevent it. When I first brought my father there. They hired someone to come and help me with the Medicaid application. So when I pulled my father out, we filled out the Medicaid application on Monday, and I pulled my father out on Friday of the same week. So they went ahead, and called the lady that came to help me fill out the Medicaid application and told her to pull the application out. So they didn't call me. They didn't say, listen, we have to do this by law, we can no longer help you with the Medicaid application. They didn't say anything at all. Meanwhile, I'm thinking the Medicaid application is about to be approved and the application has been pulled from the queue. It was just not a good experience. Some patients, like my father, require care that they cannot provide, meanwhile, they accept the patient just so they get paid, but they don't provide the care for the patients. So. I pulled my father out of there and put him someplace else. It wasn't inviting to say the least. It wasn't a place where the moment you enter, you feel welcome or cozy. It looks like a very old institution, and it's not updated. The only therapy that he got was speech therapy. A couple of times the speech therapist came by and assisted him with saying a few words.

My father is at Avante At Saint Cloud. The facility looks fine. It's clean. The people that work there, they're nice people, but they're not letting him come home for the holidays. That's the only problem with that. The food looks like prison food. They say they have activities for their residents to do, but I don't see anything. They just turn the TV on, take them outside and stare around and that's it. Right now, my dad has been out of inhalers for 2 days and he's having difficulty breathing, and they're just starting to order them right now. And they're very strict people. They act like he's in prison or jail, not like home care.

My friend is in Avante at Saint Cloud. So far, I guess she's being provided for. They are professional, and they do their jobs. I've seen their food, but I haven't tried it. It looks the same as hospital food. That facility is very similar to a hospital. It looks clean. Their grounds are nice. Those people who are able can go outside. They have nice landscaped grounds and places for them to go, which is nice.

My mother-in-law is moving into Avante at St. Cloud tomorrow. I did like the people. It seemed to be an older facility, but they're renovating it now. The other part that I liked is they had an available bed. We had gone to so many of them and we couldn't transfer my mother-in-law until her Medicaid was settled. And by the time we got the Medicaid settled, in several of the other places the beds filled up. Avante had a bed, but it's also under two miles from our house so we can visit her almost every day, where now she's 100 miles away, we can only go on a weekend. I still work. They have been very accommodating, very proactive, trying to get everything lined up, asking what my mother-in-law's gonna need. The staff is very professional and very informative. We went twice, I went one, and my wife went on another tour with my daughter there just to get an objective viewpoint. They came back with a positive attitude about it and about the staff and how you could ask them anything. They had no problem answering the questions, no hesitation. So far, we're pleased. It's being renovated now, and I'd like to see it when it's done.

My husband was here in 2018 after hip surgery. I visited long periods of time every day. His roommate was yelled at by staff & ignored. Food was left on top of dresser. Pee in bathroom & trash left on floor. I have pictures. This man couldn’t help himself or feed himself & he was mentally abused by cruel staff. He was mostly deaf & was yelled at & told “this is what these elderly cubans do for attention. They’re all alike.” My husband’s incisions were weeping & not kept clean. He laid in bed 2 weeks because they didn’t have inhouse staff physical therapist (only subcontractors) who could help patient get out of bed. I wanted him transferred to an Orlando nursing home where he received fantastic care in 2014. The Avante administrator refused to transfer him. Finally the administrator of the Orlando nursing home took it upon himself to get it done. Avante didn’t transfer his personal belongings with him. When I went to pick them up, they had thrown them in a box at the receptionist desk. She wasn’t even respectful enough to hand me the box. Good news is he recovered in Orlando with excellent physical therapy but the 2 weeks at Avante had set him back. Do not put your loved one in St Cloud Avante especially if they need any kind of assistance.

My mother is currently a 90 year old client and I couldn't be happier. The place is clean, no smells of any kind, great staff, and my mother even likes the therapy! My only concern has been that I am sure many if not most of the residents may be a little hard-of-hearing. I have suggested on more than one occasion and to more than one person that the TV's in the common areas should have the closed captioning turned on. I have been told it will be looked into but nothing yet. Watching what is essentially silent movies or TV programs must be frustrating and boring and the closed caption feature is a no-cost fix. Maybe it will be done eventually but other than that I think Avante is a fine place!

My husband is in Avante. I am very happy with it so far. He seems to be getting excellent care. The place is immaculate, homey, and not the fanciest place in the world, but it is clean. There isn't an odor; not even a disinfectant odor. The employees are all happy and friendly. The other patients all seem happy. They have physical therapy and occupational therapy, game rooms, and social gatherings. The price is reasonable. Their facilities stun me.

I fell on vacation & fractured my patella. I needed rehab & was admitted into the Avante St. Cloud facility. I can't say enough about the staff there... the CNAs Nurses... were like God's little angels. They went way overboard to help me & make me comfortable. The Physical Therapy was top notch. Administrative svcs were excellent. There is no way I could find to repay them for all they did. If you need a place... Avante St. Cloud is the best. The only thing that was less than stellar was the food. LOL

The Avante at St. Cloud had very nice people. They treated my mom well. It was clean, they had nice rooms, and food was good. All the things they've done for my mom before she passed on were good. I liked best that the staff was nice and they let me know everything. They'd give me a call when I was home and let me know if my mom got sick or what they were planning on doing with her to get my permission.

My mother was a resident for many year and my Uncle is currently a resident. I had to go through Hell to get to Heaven- that is an old saying- well my mother was in several Skilled Nursing facilities that were nightmares and I was very lucky to get my Mom into Avante of St Cloud. The food is excellent and it is spotless and most important is that they all care. She was always clean and taken care of - no bed sores or bruses. It is a very nice environment as well. Activities and TV's everywhere. They have a secured unit for safety as well. St Cloud Florida is near Orlando.

I visited this facility on a fairly regular basis several years ago. I was friends with a family member of one of the residents and would assist them in checking on their father, as well as offering him friendship and companionship when my friend was not able to. This facility is (or appears to be) older and on the smaller side, the only way I can describe the exterior is that it appears to be kind of like a very large mobile home. It also doesn't have a lot of outdoor space for the residents but in this particular location (off a pretty busy road) that would be kind of difficult for them to achieve. The facility was always very clean but my concerns were with the staff. I didn't feel like there were enough activities for the residents, particularly on the Alzheimer's unit. Many times I would enter that unit and find the majority of the residents just walking around, looking lost and often confused. One resident in particular (whom I did not know) walked up to me several times, on different days, and told me she was scared and didn't belong there. I am sure her dementia played a part in her comments but I did bring her comments/appearance (of being lost) to the attention of staff in the unit (mostly nurses but at one time a social worker) and I felt as if my comments were brushed off and they didn't make any immediate attempt to talk to her, engage her in an activity, or comfort her. I also don't feel as if management in this facility are as attentive to family needs as they should be. At one time my friend approached the head of the nursing department after her loved one told her that he had fallen. Of course it's always difficult to tell if someone with Alzheimers is honestly remembering that something has happened or not, but never the less I think that the family member's concerns should have been taken very seriously. The head of nursing directed her to the social worker who then wrote up an incidence report and said that an investigation would take place. My friend had to follow up with the social worker several times because attempts didn't seem to be made on the facility's part to do the follow up themselves. My friend eventually made the decision to move her loved one to a different facility and she was very glad to have done so. My honest assessment of this facility is that a more proactive management staff, an improved activities schedule, and perhaps some more attentive nursing staff would make it a better place for all of the residents and their families as well.
