This is our fourth community our grandmother has tried and this is by far the best! So glad we found Paul the director, he came highly recommended from a placement agent that we had worked with (yes we tried the first three times to find a place ourselves, and finally found a placement agent to help us locate a community that would be a good fit). We loved Seashore, the building is beauitful and rooms are great, the only thing they don't have is a full sized refrigerator, but that isn't a big deal to us. They have good pricing and the food was great, we did a tour over lunch and so many of these places are just lifeless and depressing in the mealtimes, but everyone was in good spirits and the food was actually really good. The nurse Darren was great and was familiar with all our grandmother's conditions. The care at some of these other places was just terrible, but we got to talk to some of the staff and everyone was really friendly and knowledgable about how to help their people. We would give it a higher rating if we could, it has been so tough for our grandma having to move in and out of these places, we're relived to finally found a real home for her to enjoy.

I have been in Volusia county my entire life, and so when my father needed assised living care we (my brother and I) wanted dad close by so we could keep keep an eye on him and be aware of his condition. We tried another assisted living in New Smyrna (I won't name names) but it was not a good experience at all, so depressing every time we walked in everyone was just sitting around, nobody talking or interacting, it was just sad. We moved to Seashore to get a change of pace, and we loved the energy that the Executive Director Paul had for the community and residents. The meals were great most of the time, but the staff seemed to really care more than the other senior community that we had been in and the residents were more engaged and responsive. One thing that we thought was great was that they take the residents down to the beach on their beach bus, that really sold us because dad always loved the beach, he used to run the teach a few times a week when he could, and he really enjoys being able to visiti and see the people and ocean. It's been a good experience for us so far, he seems content and has made some friends there.

Seashore Senior Living has a bus, all kinds of craft rooms, and a salon. The director had only been there for a few months, but he was very knowledgeable. You could tell he has a lot of experience with dementia and I am looking at this place for memory care. They had a pool, which I liked. I just didn't like the smell of the room.

A beautiful building with excellent staff. Our preference was for Seashore Senior Living because it was conveniently located in New Smyrna, allowing us to visit frequently. The lighting, floors, and decorations create a pleasant atmosphere in this well-designed structure. Although the front desk employee appeared to be in a foul temper on a few occasions, the staff as a whole is really helpful.

We had to put our mother in the memory care part of the building, and they have taken good care of her. She likes the food and they do lots of activities with the residents, I always see them doing different activities. It has been a good experience so far.

We visited a number of communities before selecting this one, and six months later, we are all quite pleased with our decision.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My sister was at Seashore Senior Living before and she loved that place. Absolutely loved it. It's beautiful and very well-kept. The food was excellent. There's nothing negative to say about it, except when she was in the hospital, they wouldn't let her return there because she went on dialysis. She was also a smoker and that's a non-smoking establishment. So, I had to start looking for a place that allowed smoking. They had water aerobics for the seniors, arts and crafts, and music. They do happy hour on Fridays. They had everything and she was very happy there. The rooms were nice. It's almost like being in a five-star hotel. That's how nice that place was.

I liked my tour of Seashore Senior Living. It was very clean and open, and they were very friendly. The main problem we have with why we're not going with it was the pricing. Their rooms were very nice and very clean, they update them after every person leaves, so everything was fresh and new. The staff who gave the tour was very pleasant, introduced us to a couple of people, showed us everything we wanted to see, and took his time. He was very nice. Their dining area seemed very clean and very nice although we weren't there for any meals. They also had a pool, and a garden outside, they even had chickens, and the building itself was pretty nice.

I liked Seashore Senior Living very much, but my mom refused to go into an assisted living facility. The gentleman that runs the place was very nice. He offered me a good price. They had a beautiful backyard and a swimming pool. They had chickens that you could feed. It was very interesting. It was very nice there. It was very clean. The apartments that my mom could go into were very nice. They had a kitchenette, a bedroom, and a little living/TV room. Everyone that I talked to was very nice. I know they had closed down at one time and had re-opened with a new owner. It looked like he is doing a good job.

We toured Seashore Senior Living. It was very nice and they were very pleasant, but it's a little bit small for my sister. She needs to be pushed to get out and meet people and do things. We saw a potential room where she'd have a roommate but they each had their own bedroom and bath. They had a game room, they had other activities she could do, and they had a bus that takes them places. Their amenities were fine and the dining room seemed nice. I had no complaints, it was very clean.

Seashore Senior Living is very warm, welcoming, and friendly. I feel safe here. Whenever I have a need, they help me. They are very accommodating and very friendly. My apartment is a fairly good size. I have a living room, a little kitchenette area, a bedroom, and a good-sized bathroom with a shower. It's a very nice apartment. They provide three meals a day and they have activities every hour or so during the day. Right now, they're doing yoga, and in the afternoon, there will be some coloring and bingo games. They keep the people pretty busy here if they want to. When there is a problem, they're right on it. My air conditioner wasn't working one time and the next day they were there and replaced it. It's now working fine. It's just remodeled and it's all pretty clean. For the money, I think I'm getting what I pay for.

My mother will be moving into Seashore Senior Living. It's a beautiful facility. The staff told us that if we booked a room for her by the end of May, it would be $1999 a month, and she would be locked into that price for as long as she was there. That's pretty impressive, so I jumped on it because she can afford it. I took her to see it, and she liked it. We decided to go ahead and do that. It was clean, and the staff was very friendly and very helpful. They have their own moving company, so I have somebody that can come and move her. They grow their own fruits and vegetables, and they have their own chickens, so they have farm fresh eggs. I was just very impressed with it. She has the studio apartment for $1999, but it's just perfect for her. It's got a little kitchenette, its own bathroom, and a bedroom/living area. It's not anything large. They showed us an apartment where it had a living area, the bedroom was separate, and then there was a restroom separate from that, but those were more a month. The studio is all she needs, and she has macular degeneration, so she can't see very well. They put her on the first floor near the dining hall, so it's not far for her to walk to get her meals. I thought that was very nice and very helpful. The rooms were nice. They have different-sized rooms. You can share a room or you can have your own room. I guess the price goes by what size room you get, but all she needed was just the basic room and the price was what got us because that's what she can afford. They mentioned that the price includes laundry and housekeeping. They have exercise classes in the morning that they can attend, they have games throughout the day, and they have a pool in the back. My mom did ask about church services because she's a churchgoer, but they haven't yet found somebody to come in and do that and they're working on it. She said eventually they'll have a church service on a Sunday and then they have a bus that will take them shopping. They can take them to their appointments if we wish. There were a lot of really good add-ons and pluses. I have not tried the meals, but they told me that they do farm-to-table and it's very healthy. We jumped at this one because of the price and normally, you can't get into an assisted living at that price. When she told me, I had to repeat it three times because I wasn't sure I was hearing it right, but she has to lock into it by the end of May, and then that's the price she will pay for as long as she stays here. Plus, it's 5 minutes from my house, so I won't have to go far.

Provider Response

We are SO excited to have the opportunity to care for your mother! So glad that it is a good for for her. We're definitely working on getting the church services going as well. Thank you for leaving us a review, we appreciate it!
