My wife was a patient at the facility for about one month. The staff were very attentive, friendly and my wife made significant progress with her treatment. The staff ensured that her social needs were attended to. They had a wide range of social and recreation activities that made her stay more enjoyable. She especially enjoyed the table games. The rooms were very nice and kept neat and clean.

Horrible at giving meds on time. A small handful of the nursing team is actually patient focused and communicative, everyone else not so much. Communication between the entire staff is next to none. If it wasn’t a convenient place for us we would NEVER go here. Food is not great but tolerable most days. There are ZERO activities other than going to Rehab, otherwise they lay in their beds; there are no chairs for the patients to sit in outside of their beds. If not for rehab, they would only leave their rooms for ONE showers per week. No one opens the windo blinds. No one gets them up and moving except for rehab. Rooms are okay not great but functional. Guessing they’re probably understaffed like everywhere else HOWEVER the Admin staff appears to be interested but they do no ever really interact with the patients other than to resolve complaints IF you complain long enough. There is also this, they use digital BP devices, the same exact model throughout the facility; which when we asked them to use the normal cuff/pump type the pressure readings were so much lower than their digital readers they could easily be over medicating people. Didn’t seem to bother them enough to see the difference in the readings to make any changes or adjustments. So we quit paying attention to their results and just did it ourselves. Seems to be okay with them to let that happen. There’s just so much I have to say that’s not great. The front desk staff are the best, a couple of the 1st floor nurses are wonderful, they unfortunately have to take days off.

Would NOT recommend due to many deficiencies in patient care.Pts are in bed developing bed sores pts become severely dehydrated and malnourished..they don't act with due diligence and are not clinically skilled to discern when to call 911... Administration cover their faults..and pts end up in coma or die..

My mother in law, age 91, was transferred to Island Lake for rehab after surgery for a broken hip. She has severe osteoporosis and spine degeneration. After dinner, she keep pressing her buzzer for someone to help her to the bathroom. She also tried calling out for help. No one ever responded, so after waiting as long as she could, she got herself to the portable chair toilet. Then, she began calling out for help and pushing her buzzer to get someone to help her get back into bed. It took two hours before anyone ever showed up. She knows this because there's a large clock on the wall. The person who responded said she had lots of patients, not just her. This certainly is not the level of service we expected. On the positive side, most of the aids are very friendly and helpful when they do show up.

We found Island Lake Center for my mother. It seemed to be nice, clean, bright, and fairly pleasant. The staff seemed pretty good. I’ve had contact 2 or 3 times with one of the admission girls and her personality is OK. They did have activities there but my mother doesn’t participate in a whole lot. There’s a hospital very close by. They do have some private rooms but most of them are shared, they seemed clean, and the beds were made. They let their guest bring a little bit of furniture like a dresser and TV -- a few things that they can have their own.

We chose Island Lake Center for our mother because it was highly recommended by our friends. It was a modern place. There was a courtyard where the residents walked if they wanted. They had nurses on duty for 24 hours, and a doctor came in once a week. The facility was complete from the hairstylist to the physical therapy section. They just had about everything. The owner strived to listen and emotionally supported the families. The staff were caring, compassionate and cooperative. They were strictly hands-on with my mother. My mom was in a shared room with their own bathroom. She could bring whatever furniture she wanted. The place was really kept clean. The facility had a nice dining area. The chef prepared good food for the residents. We did not regret putting our mother there.

We visited Island Lake Center in Longwood. The staff was very caring and friendly. The building was a little depressing and it seemed overcrowded, a little dark and dreary. The rooms were fine.

Absolutely horrible care! They sent my Mother home with a bad case of pneumonia, only to be admitted to the hospital the same day. If you are looking for an SNF for your loved one, keep driving!
