Keystone Villas is not what you would call a fancy or elegant place, it is simple, stable, and, most of all, a loving environment for seniors. The Villas is an ALF that accepts Medicaid, among other insurers, and Medicaid facilities are usually the residences that have the horror stories so often highlighted in the news; however, The Villas is nothing like that. The quality and caring of the staff at my ALF makes you feel like you are in a much more expensive living facility. The food is not restaurant quality but it is definitely good, and some dishes are actually outstanding. We residents have a once-a-month meeting with the head of the dietary dept, and he really tries to implement our suggestions, and our preferences. Many times, he is able to get us the exact menu we have our hearts set on... my friends at other ALFs consider that rare.We go out to lunch once a week, a shopping trip each week, and exercise programs everyday. Also, the usual baking, arts and craft, musical guests, and some really great "porch chats" where everybody, after a while, lets their hair down a little. The management and CNAs are really the heart of our Villa, and it is their dedication to the residents, and really, their love, that makes The Villas a rarity. Many of the staff working here consider this a vocation, and not just a job, and that makes a big difference, if you know what I mean. They listen to the smallest requests, and nearly all of them, whatever department, take care of what the residents want or need quickly and thoroughly.I was all prepared to hate the Villas because it wasn't my first choice -- I wanted something with a pool or at least near the beach, but that wasn't to be with my budget. And now, I have found myself falling in love with this little unassuming place, in spite of myself. I guess you really can teach an old dog new tricks - or at least teach them something!!

Keystone was truly the place to take an elder very homey, caring inviting you could see how they made activities for the residents and cared for them. Their administrator at the time kept on top of things always assuring that care and attention was given to those with the extra care needed despite some of the workers thinking that extra care should be done at the nursing homes where elderly persons are just bed ridden and regretfully do not have a social life or attention.. I have seen carelessness increase, resident is not groomed, bathed, complaints are not addressed until they become major. Where attitudes become "I will look into it later" and never are or "that is not my job" those are the little things that destroy the reputation of a business. I sure hope they can go back to the place I remember soon.

Mom moved into Keystone Villas in the beginning of this month. It was close, it's very homey, and the patients all seem happy. The environment was very friendly, very open, and very willing to answer any question we had. They'll give you a look around whenever you wanted to. There are single and double rooms. The singles are spacious. They each have their own porch that opens up to the outside. They have mini refrigerator and microwave. My mother enjoys the food. The dining area is very big, open, very light, and always decorated for a season. They offer bingo, dancing and singing, church, and outings, too.

For several months, I was a patient at Keystone Rehab, the long-term care facility associated with the Villas. As I recovered from my heart attacks, I visited Keystone Villas, the assisted living facility, which was right next door. It is a small place, there is nothing luxurious about it, but it is friendly and warm, and has the feel of home. The staff genuinely cares, the place is very clean, and the food is very good, compared to most facilities in the area. The activities program offers quite a bit of variety, including shopping, restaurants, movies, and a monthly outing to the lake, with a barbecue and lots of fresh air. What makes the Villas a special place is the degree to which the staff is responsive to individual needs. Even the most trivial request is taken care of as soon as possible. I once asked the head of the kitchen if it was possible to have cherry tomatoes in my salad, as they are my favorite; a few weeks later, we started having cherry tomatoes, and they are now a mainstay in many of our salads. It sounds small and unimportant, but when your activity is limited, and you can't do much for yourself, the smallest things can make you happy, and make you feel like someone really cares. These are the little special things that make the Villas feel like home and family, and make me recommend it highly.
