Westminster Woods On Julington Creek was an older facility, and all the apartment buildings were one story. It was a nice place, and they had the nicest apartments. They were bigger than most of the other places, and they opened up to an outside courtyard area. It was on a big campus and there were lakes and a river there. If you wanted to go out for a nature walk or just go look at the ducks on the river or whatever, that was a nice place there. They had a dining area, the medical offices there, crafts, and a library. It was a very spread out campus, so you would have to be able to be very mobile to be able to walk everywhere. But they had extended golf carts that they used to shuttle people around.

Westminster Woods has a reputation for caring for its residents. This all changed when my relative moved from Independent Living to Long-Term Care Living. After 7 years at the facility, my parent is now living in fear that the nurses will not care for her. They have not administered her pain medications as ordered and they remain defensive and aloof. As her Power of Attorney for Healthcare I am very concerned about Quality.

I toured Westminster Woods on Julington Creek. I toured independent living and assisted living. The independent living room had a lot of glass, so it was very airy and very attractive. The community is on like 90 acres, so it's got lots of places for you to walk around, and it's on the river. It's just very attractive. They have single individual homes, and apartments, and there's one high-rise, so they have everything that you could be looking for. They have a couple of clubhouses. I stopped by one that had a pool, and there were some ladies playing mahjong. They have a bus that you can call that can move you around the community because it's very, very large. So if you're interested in an activity, you can get to it without much inconvenience.

Westminster Woods on Julington Creek has what we're looking for, except that the units we're interested in aren't available for three years. So, you'd have to go on a waiting list. We're interested in a standalone unit or a duplex with a garage, not including meals, being able to step up into additional care when that time comes, and they all have that. The staff was fine. We had no problems with them. They have a woodshop, arts and crafts shop, trips that they take, they play Bocce ball, they have a gym, pool, and all the nice things that you want. The units have very nice kitchens too.

We went to Westminster Woods on Julington Creek this past week. They had some brand new, beautiful, 1,400 to 1,500 square foot homes, they had garages, they were lovely. I think they had one to show us, but there was nothing available. They showed us the homes that were a little bit older. They were all brick branches, and they had an attached garage. He sent me the floor plans, we looked at that, and that was very nice too. Everything was fine until the gentleman showed us where the arts and crafts room was, where the billiards room was, where all the different activity rooms were, and this was like one long building that wasn't very big, and at the end of it it was the dining room, and it looked drab, and nothing that I would love to go in and say, "Oh yes, we're having dinner tonight." That turned me off completely. The newer places were nice, but the facilities were in an old, long, straight building, and that just cut it right there. They said they were putting in new memory care down the road. I told him I didn't like the way it was laid out for the activities and things. That part of it was very old. It's just so sad that they did so much building of new property and didn't do anything with this long strip that they have. They did have some apartments, we didn't look into 'em, but he said he's sending me the pictures of the apartments, and they looked kind of nice. Some of the units were facing the river, so that was a very pleasant look. I liked that too. It did have those pluses to it.

We know several people already there at Westminster Woods on Julington Creek. The fees are high, but it looks like a nice place. They also seem happy with their place. The person who showed us around was very pleasant, and she wasn't overbearing. They have plenty of things. They have a restaurant, a small store, a barbershop, and a beauty shop. We had a good tour; we learned what we wanted. We also like the fact that they have a chapel there. The people are very friendly.

We decided on Westminster Woods on Julington Creek because the other places didn't meet our needs. They have a full range of options and several different living arrangements. You're not required to take all your meals there, which is something we didn't want to do. They also have a range of activities and classes like tai chi. They have a dog park for people that have animals, and they allow you to bring dog or a cat. It has a lovely campus. It's on the creek with some beautiful views. It's a very impressive place and the people that live there seems to be very enthusiastic about it. We went to an orientation session and they had some food there, like some fruit salad. It's a lovely setting on the creek with lots of trees, a walking trail, and a dog park. The dining room also has a lovely view of the creek. It's quite a lovely community and it has a nice feeling to it.

Our children live in the Julington Creek area, and they recommended that we consider Westminister Woods. On our first visit we were impressed by the beautiful appearance of the community. A lot of places we considered where just a bunch of buildings. Here, we’re on the river, with all the magnificent trees. It's a spacious campus that is very convenient to shopping, restaurants and our family. We we were going to downsize to a smaller home with a plan to move into a facility like this when we about 80. After visiting the campus we decided to not put ourselves through the hassle of an extra move. We both liked everything about Westminster Woods so we decided to not wait and just do it now! One of the main attractions was that no matter what happens to us, we're taken care of. Our children don't have to worry about anything. We took care of everything on our own terms. You plan for the future, but you never know what tomorrow's going to bring. We're fortunate to be healthy now, and we don't NEED to be here. We WANT to be here. We can do as much or as little as we want. This is a perfect place to enjoy your early retirement years.

The grounds at Westminster Woods on Julington Creek were beautiful. If my grandmother has to move to assisted living, it's all inclusive. It also had a comparable price. The staff was very friendly. The rooms were completely updated and very comfortable, with a full kitchen and a beautiful patio area.

The office staff at Westminster Woods on Julington Creek was sort of chaotic and not well organized. There was a very high insurance fee which we feel would have no advantage for us. The rooms were OK but small. The place was clean. They had a lot of activities planned off campus. They also had a woodworking shop.

The location is incredible on Julington Creek, waterfront and heritage oaks. Best decision we ever made to come here. Love the community of people. Friends have highly reviewed the rehab facilities, which thankfully we have not not needed. As a 50-year-old campus, some of the buildings are due for replacement, but our building is brand new. Compared to other Continuing Care Retirement Communities in the Jacksonville area, Westminster Woods at Julington Creek is reasonably priced. The food could be better, but on the other hand it is priced for lower budgets. Every day we reflect on how lucky we are to be here.

Westminster Woods on Julington Creek looked very warm and inviting. We all liked the rooms. It just felt like home to us because we happen to live on the water, and there are big oak trees and everything. This is the one my children liked the best that we looked at.

This is a wonderful community to retire. Located next to Julington Creek, the grounds are spectacular. The facilities are older but well maintained. Management and staff are superb. The residents are extremely friendly and are kept busy with lots of activities and entertainment. The goal is the well-being of body, mind and spirit..There are older and newer buildings to select a dwelling from, and there is constant expansion and renewal. What I enjoy is not having to cook or clean or do yard work ever again! The dining room is large and a 10 item menu is available. You are also able to take out meals, but for many the social aspect of eating with friends is a treat. The health center is excellent, with a state of the art exercise room. Physical therapy is provided, and transportation for doctors' visits, shopping or concerts. This is carefree living at its best. Best decision we made is to retire here!

Westminster Woods was smaller, and they’re building a bunch of new villas. They have older villas and older apartment buildings. It looks to me it might have been one time a school back in the days. One of the things we like we went in to a berry next to the tower and if we want to go and eat. They had restaurants in one of the towers, and they have pool side dining. There was no way you wouldn’t like the activities there. They have a whole fleet of buses, and they go different directions every day, to the doctor and grocery stores. I was impressed with the Woods.

My friend took me around Westminster Woods on Julington Creek. We just drove around in a golf cart, and it was lovely. They have any amenity that you would need or want. Her home was lovely. She had a villa, which was a two-bedroom home. It was wonderful, but it wasn't something that I could afford. I wouldn't even think of going there. Even their apartments were very expensive. It's out away from the community, but the people who were there weren't driving themselves; they had a bus to take them, so that probably wasn't even an issue. They were having a luncheon, and there were some ladies playing cards. I also saw the bocce ball court and the putting green. There was a workshop for those who wanted to do something in there, but they had to be cleared if they're confident to handle electric tools. There were a lot of people coming and going and using the post office and the beauty salon. It was an active community; it was like a little city unto itself. They had a place for everybody to fish, and the grounds themselves were beautiful and very well attended, and the flowers were lovely.

Poor management skills and services particularly the Administration in Health Center. It's all about $$$ instead of true patient care. The administrator is all about promises she could not keep. The wheelchairs are in bad shape and has foul odor in the Health Center. Administration would not provide the appropriate wheelchair because they claim it's not their responsibility even if the patient is a resident there. The staff appears to be overworked and mornings tend to be chaotic from meal services to getting patients ready.

Quite shocked at the meals and service overall in the dining room. They are constantly lacking the staff to run the kitchen and dining room. There seems to always be a problem with pipes breaking and electrical problems in the apartments for the independent living residents, which translates to no water or electricity at times. Seems depressing too as you walk around and see many empty apartments and no one around. The price for what we are paying is "too much"! :( We now know why and we will be moving our parent when the 1 year lease is up.

Westminster Woods appears to be clean, and they offer quite a variety of rooms at different price points. It's near the center of the town, near restaurants and banks. The staff was very, very friendly. They went out of their way. The salesperson made a Saturday visit, and normally they don't do that. They do serve food. They have exercise and art activities. I would consider it for my father, but we have not reserved a place.

Westminster Woods was located near the marina that we go to. It was an older place and I didn't feel as happy when I was walking around there. It was more sad and not as upbeat as some of the other places. Their apartments were nice and spacious. Their residents that we met were also nice, but it's too much money for what they have there, I think. The staff was just okay. Their activities were okay but they weren't that spectacular. However, I like that this facility had a beautiful view of the river. You can sit out and walk around along the side and it was pretty over there. They have benches, which was nice especially for somebody wanting to live on the water. However, they could improve on their sales and marketing staff. They were a little harder to get to. We were waiting for awhile for somebody to call us back and make an appointment. I believe they weren't trying hard enough to get people to come there. I would probably not recommend this community.

I visited Westminster Woods last month and the facility ended up being the one that interested me the most. I am satisfied with what I saw. The apartments seemed okay. It's a spacious. The kitchen was really good. The environment seemed to be a very friendly place. The residents there started treating like family and I thought that was important. They seemed to have a lot of activities like bingo and card games. The staff seemed to be very friendly and helpful. I ate there a couple of times and I am okay with the food. The entrance fee is a little more reasonable than many of the other places.

We liked Westminster Woods. It's a very nice facility and I guess it's one of the better ones. They had some small houses and they had a high-rise. I think it is one of the facilities that we would look back at.

really liked this location as it offers the best of everything. From fine dining and golf to museums, beaches, nightlife and entertainment to football games. The proximity to Westminster Woods, Julington Creek, and St. Johns River make great places to explore, picnic and take nature walks. The dining options offer a variety of fresh, healthy foods that looked and smelled delicious. Snacks are available all day every day. The communal activity rooms are all nicely sized and decorated. The staff and management are very accommodating and eager to make the residents and visiting families comfortable. The property includes areas for arts and crafts, woodworking, billiards and sewing. There is also a convenient boutique and exceptionally equipped fitness center.

A tour was scheduled, and we visited the facility. Everything about the facility was well-thought out. The facility seemed to have a lot of amenities that were included in the monthly fees. The person directing our tour was very knowledgeable in all of the activities offered. I was impressed that a local university offers courses for the residents at a very-much reduced course tuition charge. We looked at different floorplans which offered a variety of amenities. The newer area was extremely impressive with all of the comforts available in each home.At the end of the tour, our tour guide was very helpful and knowledgeable in answering any questions we had regarding the properties we had seen. She explained in detail all of the pricing and requirements needed for residency in the community. We did not feel like any of our questions were brushed off or an imposition on her time, which is a very welcomed thing, especially when making an important decision such as this one. Again, the staff seemed very friendly and knowledgeable and also seemed to genuinely care about the residents in the community. One thing that really struck me as a very positive thing was that, as we were traveling throughout the community, the tour director knew the residents by name and greeted each of them. To me, that was a very nice thing to see.

Recently my grandfather was put into assisted living, a separate hall from where he used to live. His caretaker is always right down the hall just the press of a button away. If he needs anything from CPR to a spoon the nurses always come running. Everyone seems to care about the wellbeing of the residents, even the wait staff at the dining hall. Having this campus on a lake not only boosts the looks of the place but it is also a very good place for relaxing and recuperating. Also, some staff take a few residents at a time on a pontoon boat ride on the St. Johns river. The fresh air really boosts spirits as I've seen. In addition, the food in the dining hall is very well prepared the kitchen always makes it a point to make sure everyone has the right diet whether that be without salt or without gluten. All things included this is an incredible facility with an incredible staff and management.

While searching for a place for my friend's aunt to live, we visited the Westminster Woods on Julington Creek assisted living facility. We really liked this location as it offers the best of everything. From fine dining and golf to museums, beaches, nightlife and entertainment to football games. The proximity to Westminster Woods, Julington Creek, and St. Johns River make great places to explore, picnic and take nature walks. They have an impressive selection of living choices to choose from, including apartments that start at studios to two bedrooms. They also have single-family homes included in this retirement community. This is a full service retirement community, where seniors may enjoy many options for as much independence as they need, and still live in a safe environment.

Westminister Woods was a pretty nice place to visit. The staff was very pleasant and kind, they were very helpful and appeared to be very genuine. The facility was a very nice size, it was clean and well maintained. The cafeteria was also nice, very spacious. I like how they offer the nursing home facility and also an assisted living home as well for those who can function a lot more on their own without much help. You can tell that the residents there are able to make it their home by personalizing their rooms. It was reassuring to know also that they have alarms or some type of security feature on the wheelchairs of their residents to maintain their safety and to ensure that no one goes astray. A big concern for me concerning some facilities is whether it is easy for the residents to leave, this can be very dangerous is you have a loved one with Alzheimer's disease. Another plus is that the residents have a salon or a place to get their hair done if they want. Overall it was a nice facility.

Westminster Woods is located in Julington Creek on the banks of Julington Creek, a tributary of the St. Johns River. The facility is shaded by live oak trees draped in Spanish moss famously depicted by Harriet Beecher Stowe in her book "Palmetto Leaves." The facility itself is quite old, not in disrepair, but definitely showing an architecture of decades past. The community is large, but feels cozy and quaint. The staff is wonderful and curious, as are the volunteers. Many local church and Boy Scout groups visit the center as community service, which is always welcome. The summers are hot, but pleasant in the plentiful shade. There are bike paths, parks, ponds, and a pool. They have a dock on the creek, and chairs to watch the water and laze the day away. The staff is kind and helpful, brimming with southern hospitality. There are many options for retirement in Florida - but few have the charm and class of Westminster Woods. I can't imagine a more ideal place to spend ones golden years.
