My wife was at Parkside Health and Rehabilitation. She was there for an extended time when she was rehabbed. They offer long-time there as well. The place was a lot cleaner. They have activities the same as the other place. You go to their main dining room and there would be 6 or 8 people sitting around coloring pictures and that sort of thing. There was a person that read stories to them every day, which I thought was kind of nice. The rooms were clean. Most of the time, you could find a nurse. The CNAs were pretty good there as far as keeping the room up and keeping the patients up. I think they were better than the other place. With regard to food, they seemed to take more care in their preparation. The place was nice and clean, too.

I have not been able to visit my loved one due to my own disability but Parkside has been wonderful about keeping me informed on all matters. I can't thank then them enough for the love and empathy given when my loved one has had difficulty coping with life as it is. Thank you Parkside for all that you do!

I would NOT even take my Senior Dane there. The place had a pecular odor that hit you like a ton when you first walked in the door. The food they fed my mom my dogs wouldn't eat. They left her sitting in a chair all nite when her bed broke, and when they gave her a stool softner her nursing attendant complained about having to clean her up after she went 3+ times. I've seen better animal hospitals and shelters.

My mother was in Oakwood Garden of Deland two years ago. It was OK, but I would not want her to be there on a permanent basis. The rooms were kind of small, and I do not think the people get the one-on-one care that the other facilities provide. I know they do the best that they could, but I thought they were a little overcrowded at the time.

A lot of the nursing homes wouldn't take my mom because she was at the point where they thought that she was going to need a nurse to sit with her 24/7. However, Oakwood Garden of Deland took her in and it turned out that this would be a really nice place. My mom also likes this facility. The facility doesn't smell like pee when you walk in. They also have a very helpful staff. When I call on them regarding my mom, they are always ready to talk with me. If you have a question, they usually take you into their conference room and discuss the issue there. They don't do it so that everybody else can hear it. Right now, my mom is sharing a room with a lady patient. Her only complaint with this is that this lady snores all night. She is also not happy with her food being pureed, but that's what she has to be on. When we have her out though, we usually take her to some place to eat so that she gets to cheat every one in awhile. This facility also offers tons of activities and she has been to everything that they have. She likes their bingos and classes. They also go out to the stores or they go out to eat. I think she is pretty happy with where she is right now. I would recommend this place.
