My 91yr old mother is in Beacon Brook Health Center. The place is understaffed, food is terrible . One night atsupper time can you believe they only had 6 pkg of crackers for the facility, like pulling teeth to get mom 2 pkg for her soup..the brochure showed a wonderful place now mom is there I am disappointed. I bring her crackers , Bananas and other things that they don't have on a daily basis. Family that come to visit sometimes stay a few hours you would think a cup of coffee would be available no way.

The aide staff at Beacon Brook was nice. I had to wait for my meds because they still had to order it from the pharmacy, so it took a while. I needed bed wheels, but there was none, so I was very disappointed. You can only have two showers a week, and I only received one hour of rehab a day. It was so hot in there, and my bed was near the window, so whenever I open my window a smidgen, my roommate would complain about the cold. They were advertising in their brochure that they have Tai Chi, so I was excited because I do Tai Chi, but I ended up teaching their Tai Chi class. The only other activity I saw was patients working on jigsaw puzzles. The environment is that of a typical nursing home and it's not therapeutic.

Admin staff rude and conscending as well as doctor. Patients are given meds even if not needed. Only care about filling out Medicare forms. Not enough staff especially at night. Doctor on staff will NOT collaborate with specialist doctor s. Night crew is "only there for the money" I'm told. Huge staff turnover.

In both incedents with my mother and grandmother, it was impossible to get an immediate response by any employee of the facility causing such things as bed wetting, extreme pain that could have been avoided with proper round the clock treatment. My grandmother was given a large dose of pain medication without the families knowledge which cased her to stop breathing and pass without and family present. I do NOT rcomment this facitlity to anyone.
