The care that Columbine Chateau provides for my father is excellent for him. He needed a home with more expertise on memory care and they have it, so he's being well taken care of quite well. He shares a room with another person, it's a fairly large room so they have their own TV, dresser, and closet. It's very comfortable. Due to his age, he doesn't do a lot of stuff but when he's at the dining room table, they talk with him and things like that. The food is excellent and he really likes it, it's well-prepared and healthy. The staff is really good and the amenities are very nice.

Columbine Chateau was a home environment and I liked it a lot. They have both assisted living and memory care, and it's all combined. It depends on the level of care they need to provide and that's how they base their price. I liked the homey environment. It's a very small community, so it's more personal. I liked that part. It doesn't feel like you're in a nursing home. It was clean. The rooms were fine. You could have a roommate and they provide the beds if you need it and dressers and stuff like that. Everything was all-inclusive there. They had a living room and a backyard area with a garden that you could visit outside. They offer transportation. It was well maintained.

We went to visit Columbine Chateau. I don't like the place at all. My father-in-law wouldn't like it there. He's more independent. Some of the residents there can't speak, and they're just there. The patients aren't able to do anything on their own. They're total care. They may say they're independent, and you could tell they're not independent. They didn't have a dining area, they just had a kitchen where they made the food, and they had a table there where they could sit. I didnt like anything about it. Then they had to share rooms; there are two patients per room. The staff was nice. They seemed like they were understaffed. There was one in each building that was caring for the patients.

Columbine Chateau was too much like a nursing home. All we saw were residents sitting in chairs in front of the TV. All the bathrooms and bedrooms were shared, and they mix the male and female. We checked out the memory care. The staff member we talked to was very nice and informative, but I think you should be able to stand alone on your own without having to bash other places. Also, I didn't really see any amenities there. I didn't think that it was real clean. It was just not really set up or decorated to make it look nice. The rooms were small. They all have twin beds, and you have to share a room; you can't have a private room. It might be a good location more for people out in the Pueblo west area, but I don't think it was a good location for us living in the city of Pueblo.

We were treated very well at Columbine Chateau. They were open with us about our questions and very realistic about what was possible for my mom's care and how they would deal with her needs. They offered us a meal, but we declined. They were very accommodating to both my husband and myself. It was a very nice facility. The staff seemed very competent and very good. They have a good staff to resident ratio. Everyone we talked to was very cheery. It was nice looking on the inside. The rooms were very appealing to us.

The staff were friendly. But was desperately concerned with the residents sleeping on cheap daybeds. They place 2 residents to a room. The furniture doesn't match and looked old or purchased used. In the 2 houses I found one with which the residents were not interactive and TV is not what a dementia patient needs. The residents appears to be at the lower end of their decline. The other house seemed more directed towards the mentally challenged who were also watching TV. Food is served on bright colorful plastic plates which was explained to attract a dementia patients appetite, so they have more of a desire to eat. But I feel the standard of living is not set to a warm cozy environment. There was minimal wall purchased decor. Instead their were stickers, patient art and paper information bulletin boards. If your elderly person has declined to that point and you don't care or can't afford better. This is the place.

I took a tour of Columbine Chaateau. I really liked the people there. The only thing that I personally didn’t care for was that all of the rooms are double occupancy, and I'd prefer private. The facilities were wonderful. They had the walk-in tubs in the bathrooms. which I really liked and enjoyed. The people seemed friendly, and the staff was wonderful. It looked like they were very caring people, and the owner was very nice.
