- Special Comment: The Ashley Manor story begins over 20 years ago when the original founders were looking for residential care facilities for their own loved ones. After extensive research, they found the existing choices did not meet their own high standards, so they decided to create facilities to provide the level of care they demanded for their own family members. As we have grown over the years, we have stayed abreast of the ever-changing field of elder care. Our staff is specifically trained to meet the needs of our clients while providing them with love, care, and dignity. We feel it is our duty and our obligation to provide the highest standard of care for each of our clients, just as we would if they were our own family.

My sister was a resident of Ashley Manor - Northglenn. We were there for a while. It was a nice place, very spacious, clean, and open. With my sister, there were only four residents. It was clean, well-lit, and spacious. It was a good set up, compared to another facility. This one is bigger and has more room for residents. The staff have big hearts. They were fantastic with my sister. They would paint her nails, and they would curl her hair. They just made her feel special. She was only there for 21 days, she really did like them, and they were very nice. My sister has a pretty good appetite. The food is just varied. It was 8:00, 12:00, and 5:00. They pretty much kept to that schedule for their meals. The spacing was big. They had an outside where you could go and sit under a porch. You didn't get much sun, which was good. Other than that, you would be exposed to the sun. I think elderly people need more shade than anything. Corporate needs to be more open and upfront with people when they do tours. If we knew that we were not going into a spend-down Medicaid for one year and then rolled into Medicaid, we never would have accepted it at all. I just think that we were misled and were lied to. You can't do that with people that are looking for a place for their family and with the money because funds are limited with the elderly people. It's just sad that they were not truthful right from the beginning, so that's corporate. The staff was different, they were amazing. But corporate and the administrator that gives you the tour, I just felt that they were very misleading. I don't know why they weren't truthful from the very beginning. The only thing we didn't like is misleading us at the beginning. Other than that, everything else was okay. As far as care and taking care of the people, they did really good in that. It's the money factor that they need to improve on, I'm just being honest. In terms of the upkeep and cleanliness, they were really good. I think the activities could improve. They did have music going on when they wanted to. They have a big TV, so they could watch movies. One time I went to go and see my sister, and they would have a balloon they would pass at each other. I know that was done one time, and sometimes coloring. I think activities probably could improve. They had an activity schedule, but I did not see much of it. In terms of value for money, if they would have done what they said they were going to do, I would have given them a four. But seeing as they lied to us and we had to be uprooted without any place for my sister to go to, I would give them a two. I hope that's explanatory for whoever is looking because of how they misled us. If they would have done the $5,500 for one year and she rolled into Medicaid, that would have been great. They were just, "This is how it's going to be, I don't know when we're going to get our Medicaid state license, so we can't guarantee anything." We decided we're not going to give them any more money because we needed every penny to find a facility to do a spend-down for her.
