I like that Gaia's Remedy had 11 beds, so it was very small. Their menu to me was amazing. There were fresh fruits and vegetables. They would ask the residents what they wanted. They would shop for that, not every day, but some days. I did see fresh fruits out. Everybody eats together at the dining room table and I loved that. It's kind of like holistic or all-natural, and I was pretty impressed. My mother-in-law has high blood pressure, so food was really important to us. They talked about how nutritious it was, and the menu looked pretty darn amazing for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. It was fresh, so that was nice. There were only two staff there, and they were both pretty new. I was quite impressed with the young lady that was going to be the live-in. She was going to be there 24 hours a day and she had her room in the back. The woman who showed me around had just started, but she had detailed notes, so I was able to see everything. The only drawback was there was never a return call to just say, "How did you like it? Are you considering it?" They had plenty to do. They showed us the game room, there was a nice seating area and a beautiful garden. I liked all that, but they kind of weren't ready to show the rooms. I'm not saying they're dirty. They just weren't put together like you would think you should see. They had laundry, not in its place. It just didn't feel like it was clean enough. That would have driven my mother-in-law crazy. For our needs, that would have probably not been the best. One room had its own bathroom, but that one had just been rented. The other ones were just rooms and I thought that would be hard. They had three or four bathrooms that they share with three or four residents. The bathrooms looked easy to get to, but my mom would not be OK with everybody in her business. That was a downfall for us also. The outside was very nice, and they had parking. It's kind of like a big house and they had gardens in the back. It had a wheelchair ramp, and they're getting a chair lift. I might have just come at the wrong time. Maybe they were in the middle of doing laundry and stuff, but the inside wasn't like I thought it should be. They had a lot of land, and it seemed homier. They had some acreage in the back, but everything was in such a way that the seniors could get outside. They had chairs out there.
