My mother has been in here for a couple of weeks now. We like the place and the staff that we've met is great. She is living in a room that's fairly small, but clean and nice. They have church services, gardening, cooking, bingo, brain games, ice cream socials, and exercises. She likes the food and she seems to be eating well so far. This particular place is just for dementia/Alzheimer's/memory care.

We toured Lark Springs. The rooms are very tiny, to get the residents out, and active in the community, which is a lock-down memory care-only facility. The staff was terrific. I looked in the eyes of the people who were working there, and they all seemed sweet. It's in the renovation stage, but they're on the right path. They're getting rid of the carpet that can hold odors and they're putting down plank vinyl. And that's the community area where the residents walk in the circle pattern of the property. I think they got a lot of good stuff there. They're our number two.

DO NOT place your loved one here. Only saving grace of this place is the actual hands-on caregivers who do seem to care about their patients. The front office staff and head of nursing do NOT. This staff is uncaring and rude. They do not listen to reasonable requests for non-emergent situations. They do not even input emergency telephone numbers into their system correctly. We went 6 months without receiving a call and thought all was well. When we would call, it was always a glowing report. Turns out they don’t know about your loved ones and will tell you one thing when in reality it’s not even close to the truth; this was from the head of nursing in a medical situation which was proven false from her primary care physician. Loved one’s rooms are always filthy despite “daily housekeeping” with dirt, crumbs, and other trash always present. I expect some accumulation; as the primary caregiver for my mom with Alzheimer’s at home, but this is not that. It is gross and dirty. Rooms should be single occupancy, but they still shove two people into a single room.

I stopped by Lark Springs, and they gave me a tour. It's well set up for memory care seniors and they have fairly good amenities and food, but that's not what we are primarily looking for. They have a good 6 to 1 ratio of nurses to patients. We are particularly looking for any Asian in the population because my mother, because of the language barrier, could relate better. And they do have several Asians in that community, and they do have a fairly diverse population. So we appreciate that. They also advised me to look into the PACE program, which we didn't know about. So we will do so to see if we can use that to pay. The room is adequate, we saw a single room, but the doubles were very different in size. So I think if you were looking to see if you can use a double occupancy room, that would be tight. If we were to use that facility, we would use the single which means you have to pay more for that. There are individual bathrooms in the room. But you have to use the community area for showers and baths. I saw the community room where there are games and each wing has its own community room, so that's nice. And then I also saw the courtyard for going outside.

Lark Springs was very clean and the residents seemed to be happy. They had very few residents, but the people that we met seemed to be cordial and the staff was excellent. They were all friendly, helpful, and professional. It was just extremely beyond our budget. Cleanliness was excellent, too. They had several areas where the guests could have their food served. We didn't taste it, but it smelled good. They also have a room where you can watch television, an area that is basically for meetings and stuff like that, and a beautiful patio outside with furniture and so forth. It's very well protected. They have locked doors and exits. So, that was good. We just didn't care for the fact that you have to furnish the unit yourself, including the bed, armchairs, and everything.

It didn’t seem comfortable for my mother, and I didn’t like it. The staff was very nice, thought. The rooms felt like hospital rooms and didn’t have a homey environment.

I visited the memory care unit. During my visit, the staff was outstanding, very helpful, and considerate. The rooms were great, too. They had music, crafts and memory games. It was a very nice facility. I highly recommend this place.

It was very clinical looking and very institutional like. The people were professional. The activities were limited. They specialize in Alzheimer's, and it's locked down. I've known other families that were there. I can't say that I would recommend it unless the person was pretty far along with Alzheimer's.

The new admissions director and the director were very nice, and we talked about my mother's needs. They gave us a tour, and we went outside. They showed us that it was fenced in and that people could go outside and be safe. It's very homey. On the downside -- which is not something that they had any control over -- there was a little group of three ladies walking a circle around the perimeter on the inside, and they said they were trying to get out of there.

It was nice. The people who assisted me during my visit showed me around. I saw a lot of residents who were out walking. The place was clean, which I think is very important.
