My mother at Cottonwood during the covid pandemic. They said she had covid and moved her to an isolation ward with others that were infected. They then informed me she was clear of covid and moved her back to the general population. The next call they indicated she died of pneumonia. All during this process her family was prohibited from visiting her due to the CDC and state of California guidelines. Other than the events during the covid pandemic, which the facility had no control over, her overall care was good.

On April 3rd i had complete hip replacement surgery. Because of my underlying heath conditions i though going to a Facility would be better suited for me vs hone health for rehabilitation. I chose Cottonwood because i have heard good things about the services here. I arrived here on the 5th in the afternoon and was quickly and professionally signed in, got a room and the nurses checked out my incision to make sure its healing. I was visited by all the office staff that was needed to dot the I's and cross all the T's. The lovely cafeteria lady came and asked me my preferences on the kind of foods i like and disliked. I mean I thought i was checking into a luxury hotel. Even though hip replacement surgery has become and in and out and was a pretty simple operation it is always a bit stressful. Coming to a place where you are at the mercy of the staff only adds to the stress. One is giving up their control of their normal everyday life to the hands of strangers In very short amount of time i was felt like a part of a larger family. All my stress went away and my attention was now towards my rehabilitation learning the "do's and don'ts" of a new hip. The staff at the rehab stated me right away. Marty was great teaching me how to live my life with this new hip. Sean and Sean, the P/T worked with me teaching the correct Exercises and how to preform them so not to cause any damage. My room was spotless all the time. Trash cans always empty. My bathroom was cleaner than mine at home. Pressing the button always brought a CNA promptly. I wished i had all the names of the staff that stood out but frankly they all stood out. I know their jobs are difficult ones but they did their jobs with professionalism and a smike on their faces, each and everyone of them. You know we tip waitresses for bringing us food when we should tip these hard working people that take care of us. I have background in running businesses I will highly recommend to anybody needing the type of services Cottonwood Post-Acure Rehab offer.

Our tour at Cottonwood Health Care was nice. The facility was a lot smaller and we liked it. The staff was very friendly and took us on a tour both times that we went. It was also very clean. They had a library and their exercise room was part of the rehab area.

The staff that you interact with on a daily basis are kind and helpful. The facility is clean and, for the most part, doesn't smell. The rooms are small though and there is one bathroom for six residents! Residents are only given a shower twice a week unless they are independent. The food is terrible. No fresh vegetables or fruit. Everything is cooked to a mush. Lots of starch and carbs. Lots of steamed mystery meat. When we complained everyone gave lip service to improving but nothing changed. An advertised claim to fame was a registered nurse on duty 24/7. This simply was not true in our experience and the residents' plan of treatment was adversely effected. We complained, again, and heard the lip service but saw no change. This would be very scary if the resident were unable to vocally express concern and/or had no one to advocate for them. The staff struggled with insufficient numbers to accomplish all their tasks, especially the registered nurses. Resident had a great deal of difficulty getting any attention from the doctor assigned to him and eventually just made an appointment at his office! All in all it has been a very frustrating and stressful experience.
