We moved my sister-in-law to Merrill Gardens at West Covina. She has memory problems. It's very nice. It's well-kept and attractive. I know they have a lot of activities, but I can't tell specifically what they are. The staff are very caring. They're very good. The level of cleaning is impressive. It's an attractive, very clean community. It is an expensive facility, but I think it's well worth it if you're able to pay. I'm very impressed by their memory care.

I like Merrill Gardens at West Covina. It's nice. The people were very helpful and nice. The price seemed good for all that they offered. It's a little bit farther away from my dad, but it's a clean and newer place. They have tiers of service. My dad would need independent-plus because he would need some extra care. They have a big list of activities. I think some activities were going on but I wasn't too focused on that at the time. It was a large place and they seemed to have a pretty good variety of activities. They have a lot of residents. They have something for everybody there. Everybody doesn't do everything, but there are a few things that they can do where they can be as active as they wanted, and I like that. They had something on every floor. One floor had a library, so each floor had a different room. They gave me some cookies when I left. I didn't stay for a meal, but the dining area looked nice. The lady who helped me was very nice, too.

We chose Merrill Gardens at West Covina for my father. It's been so far a pretty good experience for him. The communication between the director and the assistant director was pretty prompt. It's a brand-new facility. It's got all the modern touches of a new home. The one-bedroom apartment that he's in has big, bright windows, has lots of natural lighting, and light fixtures. They offer dining from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. He can come down and get served breakfast, lunch, and dinner if he chooses. They allow pets. The food is fantastic. I love the food, and my father loves the food. His bathroom can accommodate anyone that's handicapped or has a walker and a wheelchair to get inside the doorway. He has a walk-in shower and a stackable washer and dryer. They have daily social activities. They also have access to a few workout machines and access to a salon there. Two times a week a hairstylist will come and offer haircuts. From what I had researched on my own, and what was offered to me, I think it's a pretty good bang for your dollar amount.

It's been a very positive experience having mom at Merrill Gardens at West Covina. It's a brand new facility, they've been open for maybe less than a year, so everything's nice and modern. She has her own room and her own bathroom. She has caregivers that look after her 24 hours a day, and the food there is really good and very nutritious. She can eat any time she wants. They help her with their medication and would clean the room once a week, they do her laundry and there's a nurse on call for her medical needs. I can go into her room and visit her, and I'm not limited to just the lounge area. They have a nice patio with a fountain. I just love the amenities, and the people there are super nice and super helpful. They have a Catholic mass and it's all online, and they gather at the residence. My mom has participated in that. They've had a Tea Party for Mother's Day on the terrace, the first St. Patrick's Day, they had arts and crafts, they had a musician on the terrace playing the piano, and more stuff.
