Walnut Creek Willows was a larger community. It was a 72-bed facility. It was one of the nicest, largest communities that I've ever seen. The administrator there and the staff cared for the residents and there's a warmth that you feel when you get there and as you're walking around. This place was spotless and they did an amazing job. Everybody there was amazing. It was so spacious. They had so much room. They had everything. They've got a piano. They had popcorn machines for movie nights. They had art activities, drawing, and painting, and they had so many amenities. They were very focused on socialization, bringing the residents from memory care and assisted living together for shared activities and camaraderie. They placed a very high premium on socialization, on building a family and building a community.

Walnut Creek Willows was good, and I like it. I like it because it's convenient and my father lived in Walnut Creek. It's smaller compared to the other place we visited, but it was nice. There's one wing of the place for dementia, but the staff didn't take us there. She just said that that whole area is for dementia. We looked at the main building, the staff who gave the tour was nice. There was an activity taking place, and we visited the rooms. The rooms were clean and nice; we also walked by a few rooms with residents in there. They looked nice and comfortable there. During the activity, I think a teacher was talking to them outside in a class. The person who gave me the tour was good. The building was good, it's not a big area. We know the Walnut Creek area, but it was hard for us to find them even with GPS. It wasn't easy to find them from the street, and I saw a sign later, but it was small.

My dad is in Walnut Creek Willows. They have really caring, extremely organized people, and everything is what we expected. I will recommend it.

my mother stayed here last year for 2 1/2 months. She was comfortable and happy since she was able to talk to her fellow Filipinos that works there. They were very helpful to her needs. The only thing we did not like there was the room was never cleaned and the bathroom. She didn't use the bathroom since she was not able to walk on her own but we use the bathroom to clean her and get water to brush her teeth. This place definitely need updating. The rooms are tired and wearing out. The lobby was great, the kitchen was okey but my mother didn't really eat much of the food since we brought food for her daily. Over all this place wasn't so bad.

My ex-husband is at the Walnut Creek Willows. It has been close to a year that he has been there. It is much too far from where the family lives. He is terribly unhappy there. He wanted to have a phone and when we called there, he was never ever to answer the phone because, he said, they didn't put it near him or they wouldn't leave him by it. They did admit to me that because of its constant ringing, when somebody was trying to get hold of him, they would sometimes turn the ringer down rather than give him the phone. I'm not happy about that. They also rarely answer their phone when you call them. You'll get an answering machine and they don't return calls very well. However, I do believe that his care is adequate and he is getting adequate food. However, it is certainly not the kind of environment you would like to see someone in. His room is clean enough but it got some molding off of one wall. Basically, his room needs some work. Also it doesn't look like it has been painted in the long time. His room needs to be re-painted and just upgrade it a little.

We chose Walnut Creek willows because we needed a place right away and we didn't have much time to look around. We weren't really happy with them, we thought my mom isn't getting more attention. She needed a smaller place to go to for a more one-on-one. She had her own room and bathroom. My mom is in the dementia ward. The people there had a tendency to wander around and go into everybody's rooms and mom was missing a few things. I'm surprised they didn't put more people in that ward, there were only two caretakers there.

As I walked inside Walnut Creek Willows it was very inviting and had a nice lobby. I liked the location of the facility. It was very clean and the dining area was kind of small, although it seemed adequate. The director I spoke to was very charming and polite. I still need to talk to the caretakers a little bit more if I decide to put my mom there.
