My father stayed here for a week while my mother was away. My father has Alzheimer's but isn't difficult. At all. He's just slow. My mother and the care staff agreed on nightly routine. Just a nightly one. My mother even wrote it down and it's sitting on the dresser in his room. There was someone that came in the morning and during the day. The plan was that someone would come in at 8, take him to the bathroom, put his pyjamas on and then put him in bed. And someone would check on him later on in the night. That's it. The staff did not hold up their end of the deal. I went to see him last night and fed him and then turned the TV on for him and stayed with him for an hour. I had to leave because I have two young kids to put to bed, but I assumed everything was going to go according to plan. It didn't. My father was left in the chair I had put him in before leaving. No one came to put him to bed and no one checked on him in the middle of the night. At some point in the night he tried to get up and fell over. No one came to help him. When the woman who comes to take care of him in the morning got there this morning, he was still lying on the floor with the TV still on and was still in the same clothes as the day before. He's been crying all day saying "I can't believe it, I can't believe it." I also spoke to my aunt that was there earlier in the week. She and my uncle stayed until 8:30 to make sure he got to bed OK. No one came to put him to bed. They did the nightly routine themselves and left after he was in bed. In my opinion and the rest of my family's, that is borderline abuse toward my father and I seriously hope my mother doesn't pay.

Alta Vista Manor is a board and care home with more than the typical six residents. My mother received good care in a Vista board and care. But, my friend was at Alta Vista Manor for about 9 months and he was neglected and undernourished. The staff was kind and gentle, but it appeared they were spread too thin. The food was not good. The atmosphere was that of "waiting to die". But, my friend was expected to get stronger so he could go home. He wasn't getting any better at Alta Vista Manor and ended up changing to in-home 24/7 care. Being at home allowed him to improve. In three months he's able to be on his own and drive again. He wasn't going to get better at Alta Vista Manor. I think it's an okay place for those that aren't supposed to get better.

Alta Vista Manor seems like a nice facility that's why I choose it for my wife and it is not too far from where I live. My wife has her own room with a walk-in closet and a standard bathroom. The staff is very helpful. They do a wonderful job and if I have specific concern or a favor to ask, they will pay attention to it and follow through. I would recommend them to others.
