Alta Vista Senior Living was bright, cheery, and very welcoming. The room was kept up nicely. We had an apartment for my dad there. We had it for a couple of months, but he was just unable to move in, unfortunately. The staff were great though. They were very friendly, extremely professional, and very helpful. It was very challenging for families to try to find placements for their loved ones, and they did a phenomenal job. We had the pleasure of meeting the LPN Rose, and she provided excellent care. We talked to Monica, who was the business manager, and she was wonderful to work with. She helped us navigate through the process. Everyone from the maintenance crew to the receptionist to the executive director that we worked with was just incredibly helpful. They were wonderful to work with. We saw the dining room, and it looked really good. They had a full array of different events. When I was there, I saw residents participating in different things having to do with music activities and physical activities. There were different things to engage the residents there. My dad unfortunately ended up in the hospital and was there for a month and now he is in a skilled nursing facility, so we had to let the apartment go because Alta Vista is not a licensed nursing facility, and that's what my dad required after hospitalization.

The doors lock at 5 pm. I was dropping my friend off that lived there after his appointment he had that day. So you have to call the phone number listed by the front entrance to have staff come let you in. I called 3 different numbers trying to reach someone inside. We waited outside in the cold for 15 minutes as I kept calling with no answer. Finally had to call the lady that drives the shuttle bus and thankfully she had a personal cell phone number of a staff member inside that finally came to open the door. On the day I moved my friend out of this facility, his nightstand table was full of roaches. His toilet seat was always dirty as well as his shower chair. Glad we moved him to a better place.

My friend will be moving into Alta Vista Senior Living. They offer assisted living at different tiers depending on how much assistance my friend needs. They just remodeled the entire place in 2019. It felt a lot more modern and updated. The apartment was super cute. The floors looked new. They have a theater for watching movies and a beauty salon that looked like a beauty salon and not just a room with a chair in it. The staff there feels authentically very kind and good. I like them a lot. The food was great. Their activity calendar was jam-packed. Every single day had a ton of activities to choose from. They have a lady come for Bible study twice a month, and then they have services on Sunday, which I thought was amazing because it allows my friend to get back into being part of a church again, which she missed.

I moved to Alta Vista Senior Living. The people here are very friendly. The food is good. They have activities like bingo and paintings, but I have not yet participated in them. I have a one-bedroom apartment and I have a yard with a garden. There is a large space to walk around. They have a theater room and a hair salon.

Alta Vista is a great place! My mom has been there a year and has settled into her new busy and comfortable life. I like how they break up the routine with themed things vents, guest entertainers and love on a leash. The staff is always friendly and helpful! Not too small and not too big!

Here are some issues that seem to be challenging to get resolved: -Laundry in Memory Care is supposed to be done one resident at a time, 2X per week. For several months, as I visit my mom weekly, I still find other peoples clothes in my mom's dresser/drawers. Also, her personal clothes go missing as well. -Bathing is supposed to be 2X per week. Periodically mom only gets help with bathing 1X per week. -We are still experiencing theft of food from my mom's refrigerator. I can bring in a care box of goodies for it only to disappear within a couple days.

Alta Vista Senior Living was right by the freeway. So, you would have freeway noise and traffic. The facility feels more like a hospital setting than a residence, but the staff was helpful, friendly, and nice. We saw two different rooms. One of them looked over the little garden setting in the very back while the other one faced the freeway. So, we saw both sides of the facility. They had a very small kitchenette, with just a tiny little counter, a cabinet, a little refrigerator, and enough space that you could put a coffee pot. The bathrooms were large. They had really nice walk-in showers and everything was very clean. It was a bit smaller than the others that we had seen, but it was adequate, clean, and had all the things you needed. The dining area looked like a cafeteria. The facility itself was kept. I never saw anything broken or dirty. There was actually maintenance working on one room, so they seemed to be on top of their maintenance. They had a hair and nail person that had a little shop in there, a little bus that would take the residents to places, and a few activities listed like bingo and stuff like that.

We're on the waiting list right now at Alta Vista Senior Living. The visit was good. It was good to see the community. There's a lot of residents around, they had a lot of activities, and it seemed to be a good place for an assisted living home. There's lots of interaction, which is good. The staff were friendly. They seemed competent and knowledgeable. It's small things like they knew the name of every resident that they passed, so that was nice. We saw the menu, but we didn't try the food. The room was nice. It looked like it was recently renovated. It's clean and small, but everything was in order. They got fresh carpet and fresh paint. Mom is going to be in the transitions level, which is the memory care. It looked like they had daily group exercises. They played some kickball. Once a week, somebody comes in and play the piano for a cocktail hour. They did outings, they went to Wal-Mart once a week, and they organized some field trips, that kind of stuff. There were like four or five different activities every day.

The location of Alta Vista Senior Living was not good. It was right on the main highway. Not that the residents would escape or anything, but it just was not a good location. The building was very old. There was a lot of maintenance going on and repairs. The staff was very nice. The halls were narrow and dark with dark floors; I just felt that wouldn't make mom happy. They were just finishing breakfast, so the residents were going back and forth back to their rooms. There were some family members with some folks out in the front lobby, but I didn't really see much activity going on.

My mom has been living at Alta Vista for nearly 4 years. I’m so pleased with the care that she gets. They have different levels of care depending on the resident’s needs. It’s been such a blessing that have caring and trained staff to care for my mom with her mental and physical health. They have taken every precaution during this scary time with Covid and I trust them to keep my mom safe. The staff is patient, kind and attentive. They have many activities and she’s encouraged to be involved with exercise classes, arts & crafts, etc. I wouldn’t want her living anywhere else!

I spent several weeks with the staff and residents when my parents lived at Alta Vista. My mom received memory care support and hospice care. My dad was lovingly supported by staff when my mom passed away. Even though my dad has moved and lives with family now, I am still connected to the residents and amazing activity team! I also have begun volunteering at a local memory care facility in Virginia using what I learned and saw on display at Alta Vista!

The hardest decision I’ve had to make in life was to put my mom in a facility. However, soon after I realized it was a wise choice. My mom immediately started to thrive. My mom has been at Alta Vista for 4 1/2 years. I have witnessed nothing but tender loving care. I am fortunate to live close by where I can visit anytime a day. I am familiar with the activities, and conscientious schedules of each individual resident. I have come to know the staff personally. Their dedication and compassion are stellar. Without any hesitation I would give Alta Vista Senior Livng a five star rating.

My wife suffered from DEMENTIA. When she passed away I left the facility as I did not need the extra care. I would say the care provided was average similar to other facilities. The activities for residents was well above average. The residents thrive when participating if activities to get them moving. Alta Vista staff provided fun and necessary programs to help the residents get needed exercise to keep the healthy.

Alta Vista has a terrific staff. Each person I seeing during every day greets me by name and checks on how I am doing. If I skip a meal or two, someone stops to remind me that it is time to eat. At times I just need to hang out in my room,, but someone peeks in to be sure that I am 'ok'. Staff is always polite and cheerful, no matter what type of care he or she is giving, it is done with a smile. Yaya, Jasmin, Alex, Maria and Sthalin, all zoom around the kitchen , multi-tasking, smiling politely and being kind to each resident - even some who lack politeness on an 'empty stomach'. (-: Kudo's must also be given to Angelica who does our laundry each week. She takes pride in her work, brings back everything, laundered folded and fresh. Many of us marvel at the way she is able to fold a fitted sheet so perfectly! Angel is careful, quiet and kind. Yolanda and Patty keep this facility spic and span. The entry, the reception area and the living room replete with couch, many chairs with pillows, tables, All the walls are filled with with large pictures that are perfect for dreaming or talking about. Pat and Yolanda work hard every day to make sure halls and common areas are clean as well as doing our rooms and making them shine. As someone once said, 'It's kind of like being on a cruise. You should have time just to sit and relax.' Now I could use a typist and a personal small office manager for a week or two... (

What Alta Vista offers here, I think, is wonderful. They have single room apartments and 1-bedroom apartments. They have apartments that have sliding doors onto pretty comfortable lawns and sidewalks. The whole atmosphere here is comfortable. They're into very up-to-date furniture and beautiful pictures around everywhere. They really aim at the welfare of the people. Since the COVID19 started, we have not had one single individual, a resident, an employee, guest, no one on the floor is tested positive for the virus. That is a credit to the management and the people here. Before I came in last end of May, I always thought that nursing home places like this were the top-of-the-list of where you could find most of the COVID evidences, people dying or too sick, and so not having a single soul, employee, or guest, no one is tested positive for COVID. Alta Vista is just very nice. The people here are nice. It's quiet enough. You don't hear a single sound and I'm on the first floor. There are different people and different jobs. You have nursing care, and you have people who are responsible for delivering the medications. If residents want anything and they don't have to be in trouble or they don't want to leave the room to get it, you just push the button and they'll come and see you. Not knowing them because I don't need them to come and put me in a wheelchair or take me somewhere, the communication between me and the staff is wonderful. They're very, very conscious of why we're here, why I'm here. From the top down, I would say they're very well directed and very well managed. All the different arms that they manage like caregivers, all of them, do a very, very good job. During the COVID problem, there has been a great working relationship between the management and the residents. They used to deliver all of our food to the door, morning, noon and night, and then eventually we're going to the dining room. Everybody on the first floor would go in first, and everybody on the second floor would go second. It gives you an idea of the management here. Then when you go into the dining room, you cannot sit with more than one person at a time, so you have a table set for one person, and nobody complains about it. They handle it very well. I've never been in the kitchen because they don't allow the residents in the kitchen, but their products that come out on the table are generally very tasty and fresh. In one sense it's like any restaurant. They have activities here from morning until night and people who participated in them are wonderful. I just came back and had a manicure! There's never a need for a dime in here. You don't buy anything. It is just very well run. Very well run.

My mom has been in Alta Vista for three years now. Everybody there is awesome, especially the director of activities. She is the most awesome person that you'll ever meet. She takes care of all of her residents with pride and joy. You can't meet too many people that have a heart like her. They have bingo, arts, and exercises. My mom tries to go to all of that. That's very important, I think, because that's her life. The caregivers are very awesome. It's very expensive, that's the only thing I have bad to say about it, but it is what it is. We tried the food and it was very nice. My mom loves the food. She said everything is good. The facility is clean. The activities are the best because the director there is probably the best director that you'll ever find at any facility. I have to give her the top rating because I just think she's awesome. She makes my mom happy and that's what counts. It's old and it's very expensive. If you have the money, it's worth it.

I've been here in Alta Vista since June 2020 and I love it here. They're very friendly, community is great and everything is very pleasant. I have a patio door with a balcony and I'm looking out at a garden with flowers and lots of green grass. The place is exceptionally clean. Our activities director is just amazing. She also has an associate who is just as marvelous. I don't have any complaints about the place; it is amazing. Our chef is tremendous and he wants to know if we enjoy any of the meals or not. We have a nurse on staff that follows through with everything. They are truly remarkable. Any time anybody has complaints, they talk to the management and the situation is remedied immediately. Activities are tremendous. When I make suggestions, they are mostly followed through. Activities are non-stop. We don't have to spend an hour in our room after breakfast time if we don't want to. There is so much going on. There is a shopping day on Monday. Across the street, there is a large grocery if you don't want to go to Wal-mart. We also have doctor runs twice a week. Many of our staff members are working a lot of extra hours. These are the ones that have been here for quite a while now. The chef works with your diet. I was interviewed by a nurse before I came here wanting to know what medicines I took and how independent I was and I like that process. Laundry is done once a week. I would also give a 5 for housekeeping; they are doing everything exactly the way I want it done. If I don't want something done, they don't bother with it and they let me do it. For my money, this is the best situation. We have a program where if you're not sure about the place by just looking at it, you can stay here for a week, 2 weeks or any length of time you might want. The payments are month to month. Many people that I have here met have stayed here just during the time off where they are recuperating from surgery or such, which is an ideal situation. It is such a great place to recuperate. It is much cleaner than just going to a facility that takes people that need recuperation. We have everything going for us here. It is perfect because if you feel it is lacking, you talk to the right person, and it is taken care of.

My dad is now at Alta Vista since February. His room is great. The staff is overburdened but great. They're all super wonderful but they've got too much to do and not enough time to do it. Some caregivers are serving meals but they should be doing medical things. My dad does bingo. They do a couple of games, which my dad has been doing more and more recently. Also it is beautiful there; they do a good job with the cleanliness of the place. I like the food; it is pretty good. The place and the people are great. However, I would give them 3. My dad needs to take more showers than he does and he needs a lot of encouragement and sometimes he needs to be forced to shower and to change his clothes, but they do not do that nearly enough there. My dad is dirty every time I see him there. He is happy, he is well fed, he is engaged, and he is shaved but he is not clean, which is a problem for me.

Our experience with Alta Vista is pretty good. My mom's room is not kept up as well as I would like, but that's something that I'm talking to the director about. Other than that, she loves it there. She has been there since April. They've just remodeled the whole place. It is beautiful and it is really nice. My mom has a nice big room. She is very happy there. The staff is really good. There are activities going on all the time. They give them dollars for every activity they get involved in. At the end of the month every month, they have an auction where they have paddles and they can bet on whatever they want. They have stuffed animals, pens, drawing paper, and all kinds of things. It is intended to get them involved. Most of the people there are just amazing and they're really good. The food is very good, too. They have a new chef since Pacifica took over and it is excellent. Value for money is very good. Compared to everybody else, they're very reasonable.

My Father has been a resident at Alta Vista for five months now in memory care. The welcome that we recieved was exceptional from Holly, David, Rachel and Rose. It has been difficult for the last couple months because of Covid but i know Dad is doing well there. The staff truly cares about their residents. I am lookin forward to being able to visit again and take him on a field trip occationally. The staff keeps me informed of Dad's wellbeing and lets me know when he needs something because i have not been able to visit. I would have provided 5 stars but we have only been there for 5 months, 2 of which have been consumed by Covid. To the staff-- Please keep doing what you are doing, and THANK YOU!!

Alta Vista Senior Living was getting ready to renovate their facility when I visited. The only reason I decided not to put my dad there is because I didn't like how depressing the dementia unit was. It was really dark and small. I didn't like the dementia unit, but the rest of the place seemed nice. The staff was friendly. The dining area was small. The assisted living facility was laid out nicely, and the price was good. They had a sheet of activities available, and they have a bus that takes them places. I love the location because it's right off the freeway.

It was nice. It was kind of old inside, and it was on a very busy street right near the freeway. The people were very nice, but it wasn’t for us. They had amenities like movie theater and a room where they could do puzzles. They had the outdoor where you could walk around or sit outside. The sizes of the rooms were OK. Most of them were like a studio type. Everybody was very nice. The décor inside was kind of old. It was very nice, but it wasn’t for us. The location and the time frame were not for us right now.

I visited and liked the community. I observed the memory care and assisted living. I like how they transition memory care patients. They start them in assisted living and then transition them over within 90 days, so they don’t just put them right into the memory care. I thought that was great. The facility was old and didn't have much ground outside. It was just a renovated office building, so no one had a balcony, a patio, gardens or anything, but I really like the staff. I was impressed by it.

We are looking to place our aunt here because we like it. The staff was very informative; she showed us around, she showed us the different rooms and the activities, and she also let us know that they had a transition section besides having the assisted living and the memory care. They had a transition section where our aunt could go and still be around those that are in assisted living and where she could have a little more freedom before she deteriorates more and has to go into the memory care permanently. The apartments were some of the biggest I've seen; they were nice and large apartments. The food was good. I ate with a couple of their residents in the assisted living, and the residents that we ate with had nothing but good things to say about it. They said that they had checked out a number of different places and had chosen it as the place that they want to live at, so they had picked out the place themselves. The dining room was nice, the food was good, and the service and staff were very polite -- the staff that were coming out and serving the food. What impressed me most was when I sat down with the residents, and they had nothing but good things to say about the place and the staff. These residents had picked out this place themselves to live at; it wasn't picked out for them like we have to do for our aunt.

The rooms were nice, and I know that my mother would be happy there. The dining room was nice; it had tables and chairs. There weren’t any activities, but she took me to a room that had a big screen TV where they could watch TV, and she showed a place where they could work like physical therapy, and she took me to the dining room; it was really nice.

I chose this community for my uncle. It seem to be very clean. He is in an apartment with his own bathroom. He loves the food and the people. All the patients seem to be happy there. He is 100% better than when he went in and seems to be happy where he's at. They have activities for him and for his memory. Everything is fine.
