Foothill Retirement feels like home. There's a community living area and community dining. My mother could be in the room with somebody or she could have her own private room, which she does. She has a complete walk-in shower and a pull-down seat, but there's also a handicap chair. There are handicap railings all around the room, and they supplied all the furniture. She's in the memory care unit level 1, but she needs help with bathing and toileting. The staff is wonderful and dealt with my concerns right away. They have assigned seating in the dining room, and there are four people to a table. They feed them between 7:30 and 9:30 in the morning and lunch is at 11:30. They have a variety of food like brisket, salad, and pasta, and it seems pretty good. She's not in the locked up section. She can move around, but the whole place is secure. It's an old facility, but I love the gardens. They take them on activities, they went to the Long Beach Pier, to lunch and to the park, they exercise every day, they do painting, and they have reading and entertainment. They have parties and they bring in old cars and have barbecues out in the garden.

We toured Foothill Retirement. The only thing I didn't see was a workout or exercise facility available. The residents have the ability to walk around the grounds, but my dad is very active, so having a treadmill he can walk on to keep his mobility and exercise bike, maybe even a pool or free weights to lift, having that option was kind of a big appeal for him at the other facility and that was not an option over at Foothill. So, that would be the only thing they were lacking that much. They're very friendly. Everyone was very informed on how things go, and routine, and the cleaning staff was very active while we were there. So the grounds are very well-kept.

Foothill Retirement was horrible. I wouldn't even leave my dog there. The place was dirty, old, dingy, and rundown. The people were just sitting around in their wheelchairs along the walls. I was not impressed with the staff. They were not all that interested and bored. One girl kept looking at her watch. They didn't look like they enjoyed their jobs. They were just there. What I saw was a very small and cramped room and you had to share it with someone else.

I liked Foothill Retirement. It was my first choice. I liked the staff, the facility, and the level of care. The staff was very friendly, and the facility was beautiful. The rooms were adequate. My mom would be going to the memory care unit and I walked away from there really pleased and thinking that would possibly be the route we would go. The facility looked lovely, and the people were very nice.

I don’t think that Foothill Retirement is for my cousin. The people who live there were either advanced in age or in need of a lot of assistance, and he does not require any of that, so the environment is not conducive to him. They had food and activities. There were people in the dining room having a sing-along. My cousin is a beach bum who still rides bicycles, has a lot of friends, and goes to Starbucks every day, so is not advanced like the other people who are there. It is a fine place for somebody who requires that kind of service.

Foothill Retirement Care Home is a nice community that seems to be well run. The people there are very happy. My mom is not doing so well; she has dementia. We are not happy with her state, but the place itself is very good. The staff is very responsive to our concerns and to my mom’s needs. She is wheelchair-bound and requires daily assistance in all of her activities. The meals are great and have had several community dinners. There seems to be plenty of activities for Mom to do. There were Christmas caroling events, Thanksgiving dinner, and a tree lighting ceremony, all within the 30 days that she has been there. They have a wide range of people from independent living cottages to assisted living to memory care. I would recommend them to anybody who asks.

Foothill Retirement is convenient, and once my husband got there he began to like it. It is a nice place, and the people are really nice. The staff is really just superb. I couldn't ask for better -- they're just terrific. They tend to be very loving people, and they will give you their time if you need it. They are very friendly and seem to be very outgoing. The food is good -- I can't complain about that. They have a TV there, they have magazines, and they play cards and different kinds of games. The best thing about this place is probably the people.

There were not available rooms when I visited which was to bad because, from what I observed, the place looks very nice. There seemed to be a lot of staff, the residents looked well-dressed and happy. They had a watercolor class going on which looked interesting. The place is nicely maintained, clean and on a large property with nice gardens.

My mother is very happy with the care she receives at Foothill Retirement. My mother is crippled and can not even move herself into a sitting position. The staff is attentive and quick to respond to calls from the residents. My mother has been a resident for the past 3 years. About a year ago, the facility experienced a brief period of a poor administrative director but that person has moved on along with her few poor caretakers. The current staff is exceptional. They cater to residents food requests and are always ready with snacks to supplement between meals. There are plenty of daily activities and special events for holidays and birthdays. The facility is clean with a cheerful décor.

The staff at Foothill Retirement Care Home were rude. They treated my mother-in-law like she was about to die. They did not watch her close. Some of her things were stolen in the facility. And worst, they wanted to raise the payment in one month. It was a horrible place.

Foothill Retirement Community provides a caring, supportive, environment, for it's residents. The staff are attentive, kindly, and patient. I'm very happy to have found such a pleasant, competent place for my elderly relative.
