The rooms were pleasant--lots of natural light. The staff was kind and patient. Food was fine. Particularly impressed by the therapy staff. When I was admitted I couldn't walk or even stand. It took a while but with their help, support, patience and kindness I got to the point where I could function, seated to standing and walking (with a walker). My only criticisms are a complete lack of information re progress, etc. Finally got a discharge date. after asking everyone in sight for status updates. Also, the response time to the call button could be long. Waithe an hour and a half in one instance. I didn't participate in any of the activities, so I can't offer an opinion on the subject.

My mom was at this facility. It was almost impossible to get anyone to answer the call button and sometimes they would just turn it off and say they would be right back. The care was non existent, no compassion, one hid in the corner of her room so she didn’t have to work. Always complaining of being short staffed. The food was brought in and put on the tray and oftentimes not put in front of the patient or the patient not put in a sitting position to eat. My mom was showered with her diaper on because it was too hard to remove. Her medication was often not given until the afternoon so she was in constant pain. If you care about your loved ones you will need to be here all day, otherwise their needs will not be met. At night she fell out of bed several times.

Loved the nursing staff and therapy team here. Upper management was very patient with my mom and took good care of her.

My mother needed a place to recover after a hospital stay and was moved to Sherwood. First, I was pleasantly surprised at the beauty and cleanliness of the facility. I think they have undergone renovation and the rooms are beautiful. The staff is so kind, attentive, and patient with my mom who has dementia. The food was surprisingly good. It seemed homemade instead of the typical awful hospital food. I was also impressed when my mom refused to take her meds and the staff thought of creative ways to get her to take her meds, (e.g. crushing pills and hiding them in her food — with my permission of course). Thank you helping my mom heal while keeping her safe and well cared for.

I was welcomed as soon as I walked through the doors, smiling faces and positive energy all around. The staff was absolutely incredible. The few questions I had they had the answers to them. Felt as if they offered so many amenities for my loved one and I could also see that the residence there enjoyed the facility as well. highly recommend just visiting the facility, if you don’t like the facility then it’s one more you can cross off your list, but I know you will enjoy this facility! Worth the visit!!

Management was amazing from start to finish while my dad stayed here. Super grateful to the nursing staff for taking such good care of my dad. He loved the food as well!

I would give this place a 0 star if possible but it’s not how reviews works. I don’t know where to start with what is wrong with this place. First Sherwood Oaks had a higher rating than our other possible choice. Not sure how that could have happened. This place was a disaster. They would not respond to call buttons. One day I had to call my husband to call the front desk and tell them I had been waiting 2 hours for someone to respond to my call light. My husband called the front desk twice neither time did they answer so he drove all the way from home to the facility to get them to answer my call button. The next day the OT person left me in a corner in a wheel chair in pain waiting more than two hours for the PT person who never showed up. I had to call my husband to come rescue me and get me back into bed. That night, after asking multiple staff who came into my room for help, I still ended up waiting 4 hours for help and still no one solved the problem. I ended up getting up on my own (a very dangerous idea) and walked down the empty hall to the main hub to find help. Sherwood Oaks messed up my prescriptions, forgot to give them to me, forgot to bring me meals, even when I asked repeatedly, and continued to not respond to call buttons. And if this isn’t enough, the continued number of screaming patients calling out in anger or pain just broke my heart. It seemed like Sherwood Oaks just let them scream. By the 3rd day, my husband was able to get me a lateral transfer to a different local facility that got my meds figured out, brought me meals, always answered call buttons and was able to effectively calm down distressed patients by talking with them.

If you care at all for your family don't send them here. They over medicate patients. They do not change their undergarments. My sister suffered from constant UTI's due to sitting in wet adult undergarments. She ended up in the hospital malnourished and with a Septic UTI.

My significant other is actually in Windsor Terrace of Westlake Village right now. He needed nursing care because he has dementia and cannot remember what to take, and if he doesn’t have that nursing care, he ends up in the hospital. The service is not excellent but good. He does not have any problem; he gets his meds and his food, and that keeps him very stable. The staff is good. He’s got a number of illnesses, so he must have his meds, and they seem to be controlling everything.
