I was favorably impressed with Oak Terrace Memory Care and we're going to proceed with that for my wife. They seemed to be caring, and it seemed like we'll get good care there. They have shared bedrooms, and it's fine. There's a cafeteria, and a little outdoor area.

Oak Terrace was clean, and it was very ideal for patients in their late stages of Alzheimer's and dementia. The staff was wonderful, especially the lady we talked to. She was great. There's two sections, and they can go from one unit to the other unit, but the bedrooms were too small, and mother wanted a private room. The dining area was small, and the TV room wasn't as nice. We felt it was not for her at this point.

Horrible facility and company! They can't keep staff and have ongoing turnover therefore most of the time, understaffed! Go to cclwebmaster@dds.ca.gov and review complaints, substantiated and inconclusive reports of neglect and ongoing problems with this facility by the California Department of Social Services. The sad thing is the staff says what the family wants to hear, but has a very difficult time (or just doesn't do it) what the families ask them to do for their loved ones well being! I witnessed my Mom being slapped with force across her face by a resident in front of a new and young caregiver and management (the director or nurse) NEVER addressed this issue with me or informed me as to how they handle things like this. Poor management, unhappy employees, behavioral problems with residents is a recipe for an unsafe environment for your loved one and a disaster waiting to happen! Thank God I moved my loved one in time!!!!

My mother is staying at Oak Terrace. So far, it's been great. The only thing I have had a problem with is when they say that you put down money to reserve the room, they don't explain to you that it's a community fee that you don't get back. That was never explained to me, so I was out $1,200. She is in a room shared with another person. I would say it was clean. The food's pretty good. It's not processed, and they actually have somebody there that cooks.

My experience with Oak Terrace Memory Care is not very satisfactory. They need to hire additional staff and provide more training for them. The dining area is restaurant-style, but I am not very fond of the food.
